I understand the irony. We have to work with what we have in the land of the free. It's not like the Czech Republic where I can just go to my local gun store and come home with an unmolested full auto Tula krink. Cyst lavee.

Your kit is really making me consider JBI instead of BR for this kit, he did an amazing job with a great attention to detail

Also talk me out of spending ~$120 on a great Messerschmitt BF109 model shipped from France

Did JBI ding up the right side of the reciever? That finish looked really weird.

Congrats though. I'm currently in the process of trying to reorganize my convertible gun locker so I can have gun storage on both sides and give my '83 kit more breathing room instead of having it propped against my Mosin and PTR91, using its sling as a buffer to protect its finish.

I started with planes as a kid then got really into Gunpla. This is my first model anything I've bought in like a decade, I got rid of all my models other than a few Gundams and a 1:32 scale F4U Corsair but they're all at my parents' house. I just really love BF109s and wanted a nice model of my favorite plane to put on my bookshelf

If such is unavailable, what's the best stamped receivers out there right now? I'd rather not spend the money on tooling for the rivets though...

hey guys I just bought 5 romanian mags and EVERY single one of them is sticking in my WASR. They lock in just fine, no wobble and great feeding but getting them out requires a mallet.

Is there any quick trick to getting them smooth?
>>
>>34955405
Yeah, torrenting is 2risky4me anyway. The potential of blindly downloading some malicious shit is too high for me, so I actually pay for things but I usually do my research and never buy anything in alpha or beta OR on first release unless it's some shit that's been in beta for a year or more and is some indie trash like The Long Dark.

>>
>>34955542
Take a look at the top of the mag catch (small surface that interfaces with rear locking lug on mag when mag is fully seated) and see if you spot any burrs.

Also look at the bottom of the rear locking lug to see if you find any substantial scratches. If you can't tell, put some sharpie on the lug and work it in and out a few times, let me know what you see.

>>
>>34955718
See on the leftmost mag where the finish is wearing off from the lug? Watch as you seat the mag and see if it appears to bind on that area.

If the mags are indeed your problem you could file down that surface until it fits smoothly. Be careful and don't remove any more than you need. Ideally it would just work but it appears that either your catch or your mags are out of spec.

Sometimes when the catch is being picky you can remove the mags cleanly by pushing forward on the catch and not touching the mag at all. This is more of a temporary solution of course.

Had to remove almost a mm of steel from the selector stop plate and receiver to get anything other than my translucent green and prototype aluminum to fit. Took me like 45 minutes going slow and testing the fit. Using a sharpie to see where the contact points were. It was nowhere near where it needed to be.

But really I think that may have been the case. The trigger guard rivet holes were pre-drilled and the selector stop plate lined up perfectly with the receiver. Now it's true that JBI had to drill the rivet holes for the front trunnion and there's a chance he drilled them too far rearward. But the front trunnion terminates pretty much where the front of the receiver terminates. I dunno

Unless TWS has added a second point of contact like Zenit has it will eventually lose zero, there's just nothing to keep it from moving. After a recent parallax shift test I think a good reason the Russians prefer eotechs could be that the eotech has 0 parallax shift compared to aimpoints which all experienced some amount, the T2 was pretty low but T1 had up to 9moa IIRC, so using them with basically no cheek/chin weld they're still accurately aiming despite their head being all over the place. It'd make sense since slavs seem to prefer very high or non existant welds while western militaries have always been about getting as far down and forward on the gun as possible

Just a random late night thought

They're using both, the idea with the ARs and Tavors is that the US and best ally is giving them tooling to make rifles now but in calibers that they have shittons of soviet surplus in, then when that starts to dwindle in 20 years they can take the existing rifles and rebarrel them to 5.56

I've found a single picture of a Tavor in a combat zone but not a single WAC47. My guess is right now they're only being used for parades and other forms of showmanship till they can make enough to arm a meaningful amount of people with them and have enough mags to boot, since along with that soviet ammo they're drowning in Russian AK mags

Yeah, generally. On select fire rifles, there's a few design differences between the AKM and AK-74 hammers for example. If you try and put a milspec AK (like Type III milled) in an AK-74, you can run into issues.

That's how much they go for now, that haven't been imported in a few years and not very many were brought in
>>
>>34961202
That's the going rate now unfortunately. I love mine. I'd rather have it than an Arsenal.

What, that a parts kit rifle that didn't use the barrel as a bucking bar and was headspaced well enough hasn't exploded?

I genuinely regret not getting one. When they were available I had no interest in a 5.56 AK and sure enough once they were gone I started really wanting one

Great deal everyone!

Actually decent deal Ft. Worth.
900rnds 7.62 + 10x Magpul & 3x Euro steel mags. Sell the mags and have the ammo for around $120 or less.

It's probably that same anon who posts the "laughing pointing man.jpg" reaction image any time someone here gets a kit built, since it's an "American-made" AK to him and thus worthy of derision.

Does it use a narrow stem bolt like a Saiga or a wide one like a 106? Do you have any photos of it taken down?

There used to be a time in this country where when people said "American made", they didn't just mean "American assembled".
