It's a DD OMEGA X 9.0. It's got a large latch BCM gunfighter handle, Kac rear, MBUS pro front. No BCG currently.

The mag is a new Wilson Combat with aluminum baseplate. The failures to lock back on the last round happened 3 times out of about 10 mags. It was weird. When it happened, I would manually rack the slide, expecting it to lock back since I'm doing it by hand. But no, even if I pulled the slide back by and and shook the pistol, the slide catch still wouldn't go up. Every other time it locked back fine with full engagement of the slide catch in the slide catch notch.

Shot some of the PPU "NATO" 115gr 9mm I bought too, had an actual jam with it, kinda concerning since this is my carry. Last round in the mag. That stuff is loaded pretty hot though, stings my hand with my 43 whereas most 9mm is easy to shoot through my 43.

That's odd. My operator had issues with the Wilson mags too, but did fine with the 7 round GI mags most of the time. I'm assuming the gun is used, right? I've heard of people adjusting the extractor to alleviate those issues, but it didn't work with my operator.

Yeah it's used as fuck. Now that I think about it, it might just be a Wilson baseplate and not a Wilson mag. Does Wilson make blued mags? My stainless Wilson mag has Wilson Combat engraved on the side, this one does not.

There's also an annoying issue of having to depress the mag button in order to insert the mag. As soon as the feed lips reach the mag catch the mag comes to a dead stop. I have to pound it to get it to go past that point. Comparing it to my stainless Wilson mag, I think it's because this blued mag doesn't have the little indention which is meant to push out the mag catch. The stainless mag inserts fine.

Also, I'm not sure how tuning the extractor would affect the failure to lock back.

I'm 100% totally sold on BA barrels. I have 4 of them and they've all been great. If I'm doing a build now it's basically a forgone conclusion that I'm getting a BA barrel.

Right now I'm trying to decide if I want to break some clone rules and get a VLTOR A5 system for the block II and potentially put an SFMB on it. A5 might be a waste on a carbine gas system though. I don't know much about it.

Have you ever messed with the A5 system?

Yes. Recoil is less because it feels "slower." Some people might not like it because they're used to the sharp fast cycle of carbine spring. It's like 9mm vs .45acp. A5 is like a slow push vs a sharp jab of carbine.
Worth it? I don't know. In what way? What barrel length? Carbine and 14.5 is fine.
It eliminates bolt bounce, slows parts wear, and give greater reliability. Bolt bounce is a moot point on semi-auto anyway. You get to use a cool rifle length spring.
Not a meme. It's worth it for new builds, but might not be for change out yoir carbine unless you want to try it out.
Other info: bcm has a kit for $100 but only a5h0. I think it's enough weight because it's the same as H1 carbine. You might need to buy tungsten weights later but probably not since a5 is very forgiving. Spring noise is still there might be eliminated a bit with springco green, but won't be silent like JP scs.
