AWS finally charged me for by belt after three weeks but it has been a week since then and nothing yet. Got my mag pouches and holster though so those are ready

Eh. Starting week 7 of not hearing shit-all about my order with Gearcraft. And since it was paypal I was charged instantly.

I sent them an email on Monday and a second email this morning, we'll see if it goes anywhere.

What colors are good to go if poorfag and can't afford gucci camo? Garand Thumb seems to go with Woodland and grays and browns/tans. Can those really actually work for as far as some what concealing the human shape from a distance/innawoods. Or is that just strictly an aesthetic thing?

I'm thinking of using Woodland and Gray as my primary operating colors, because woodland has a good mix of color and Gray seems to just work with everything (or so says WW2 Germany). Is this dumb?

Of the solid colors out there Duluth's brown or something similar and woodland both work very well across a fairly broad range of environments.

With it finally being sorta-spring woodland's gonna work almost everywhere that isn't true desert.

What's the environment you'll primarily be "operating" in? Generally muted browns, greens, and grays "work" in most environments
>>
>>33343668
Yeah those colors should be fine but don't expect any concealing, you'll just be matching your environment.
You can usually find some older/slav camo for cheap as well.

OD, coyote, nutria, tan will cover most outdoor environments, adjust the levels of each based on what your particular environment is. Basic idea is to break up your man-shaped outline at range, secondary is better blending with the environment.
>>
>>33342906

That's very true, but this shit is going to be used in an emergency, "I" would much rather be able to have a chest seal in my ifak to use, than have to rig up some shit out of multiple items that could be in totally different locations.

Petroleum gauze is very fucking cheap and is two seals. There is no reason to at least not get that.
>>
>>33344473
Ah, I hadn't realized how cheap they'd gotten. Last time I looked into buying them they were close to $50 for a pair and kinda broke the budget for my "bleeder/blowout for poorfags" kit.

Also the heavy-mil plastic your Israeli dressing comes in will do 4-6 sucking chest wounds, and if you have to search for that you've fucked up almost as bad as getting a sucking chest wound to start with.

The other thing is, even in a worst-case-scenario for a survivable pneumothorax, you're gonna live 30+ minutes. It's the hemothorax's that kill quickly, a pneumo bad enough to kill you faster than that has enough and severe enough complications a chest seal isn't gonna save you.

But yeah, with as cheap as they've gotten, no reason not to.
>>
>>33344532
>The other thing is, even in a worst-case-scenario for a survivable pneumothorax, you're gonna live 30+ minutes. It's the hemothorax's that kill quickly, a pneumo bad enough to kill you faster than that has enough and severe enough complications a chest seal isn't gonna save you.

Also, consider the following: In almost any reasonable scenario short of total social collapse, real paramedics will always be on the way. All the stuff in IFAKs is only meant as stopgaps anyway- people lose sight of that.

If somebody gets ND'd into or shot by a rando Allah Ackbar type and is bleeding out, they might die in >2 minutes if not treated. If they get a chest seal with no decompression needle applied, they might die in 30 minutes. If EMTs are 20 minutes away, the call to make here is obvious.

That's why I don't recommend decompression needles or anything else invasive to random people on the internet. A properly applied decompression needle might do good, but an improperly applied one by a guy who got all his medical training from /k/ can do a lot of harm. A chest seal can at worst be ineffective, but not actively do more harm than good.

Same thing happened to me. I made an order on their website three weeks ago and my card was finally charged on Monday and the stuff arrived at my door on Wednesday. The thing you need to know about AWS is that they are legit, but they still do things old school. Their website is need of a serious overhaul and looks as if it has one foot in modern times and one foot in the early 2000s. If you ever order something from them, you NEED to take a screenshot of your confirmation because they will never send you a confirmation email (broken). Also, be sure to check their website for updates on their workload. The message currently states that they are bogged down with military contracts, so that gives you an insight on possible leadtime.
Took me 3 weeks to get my stuff, but I read the update beforehand so I wasn't surprised at all.

Seriously, shitposting and bring generally useless is not necessary. You could probably even contribute something of value if you fix yourself.

For example, I like that you appear to have your TQ set up correctly, though I myself dislike mounting them that way. They tend to grab dirt in field conditions, which compromises the velcro's ability to work. I am also skeptical of that kind of elastic mounting loop. I have seen guys struggle to get them out of that. I generally give my guys hair bands to mount them, with the understanding that those should be swapped out regularly.

For the anon that was complaining about using biners to hold gloves this isn't my pic but is a decent example thanks other anon. It keeps gloves out of the way of any of your belt crap and is right there when you need it just reach your hand back and grab if you ever need them fast. Considering the fact that you don't always want to be wearing gloves pockets work but this just works better. I've also taken to hanging my helmet from belt sometimes while just walking around it's extremely handy and 100 times better than a pack for getting at. Also it looks cool so that's very important ^^

Just wear them when you shoot to build repetition. Like my motorcycle gloves, I didn't neeed them to ride, but I'd force myself to wear them all the time, even on a short ride to the pharmacy, and now I can't ride without them. You don't need gloves to shoot, but they make a lot of sense assuming you get a good fitting pair and something that actually improves your dexterity rather than limiting it

Because handling metal when its either cold outside, or when the metal is hot is dangerous.
Easies to lift heavy duty stuff without costantly getting cuts and straining your hand.
Lessen the risk of small cuts that can easily be infected, or cause unecessery injury.
Also really nice when you're crawling into position, or generally doing stuff in the woods.
Sanitary is also a good point, when you're in the woods, working with fuel, etc. Its nice to just take off the gloves and put on some anti-bac, instead if spending a bunch of time cleaning off your hands.

Do you guys reach back, use your thumb to hold open the biner, and try to guide the gloves out the opening? Or just take the whole damn biner off? That shit seems slow and complicated. Why did this become a thing?
>>
>>33347778
this is exactly why biners are at the bottom of the list, and grimlocs edge them out because of easier one-handed use. see >>33347398
>>
>>33347778
This became a thing because cool guys had biners for climbing/rappelling/etc. and then started using them to route slings/manage cables/hang stuff because they already had them. Other, less cool guys started doing that because cool guys did.

The M113s were fun. I didnt mind driving them at all and we squared off with Bradleys and Abrams.

Its fun being outgunned and pulling wins out of your ass.

The BMPs were cramped and we werent even in full kit. They were manual and the uncomfiest ride in the world.

They had spots to poke a barrel out and use regular AKs as porthole guns. That was pretty neat.

I have it on my back right, so I reach my right hand back, push open with back two fingers and grab gloves with thumb and two forefingers.

Also makes a great spot to hang my hat from, or like other anon who used pic of my pants said, helmet though I dunno how that'd work. I have yet to try that.

I have the oldest one of these
http://www.gearexpress.com/petzl-spirit-noir-carabiner-black.html

They're climbing rated so you could use it for actual belaying/repealing (assuming you have a good belt). How to tell a good 'biner from a bad one especially a D ring Carabiner like this is the type of spring / retention system. This one has a push spring, so inside the locking gate there's a spring parallel with the gate that pushes on a small metal tab that's depressed by the edge of the 'biner when opened. It's nearly unbreakable and 100x better than cheap coil springs like on dollar store 'biners which will break all the time. If you use a 'biner for serious use or don't want to be buying one every year+ then get a good push gate carabiner.

>LBT 9093

Pro's:
>Very large
>Good elastic hydration pouch, keeps bladder under pressure. Haven't had issues with no-flow yet
>Main compartment can double as small day pack easily hence the reason I bought it
>Smaller bottom pouch large and can hold assortment of stuff.
>Buckle cinch straps are great and will keep stuff in place and from flopping around
>Big ID hook and loop panel for LEO or something
>many holes for hydration tube, right, left, top and a few more with good dust and water resistant covers
>Straps have plastic stiffener in the bottom 6"-8" to keep pack less floppy down at the bottom
>Has pocket for bolt cutters or prybars on the very back (closest to PC) which is pretty neat

Cons:
>One single long strap set to molle it in (I like two sets, so broken up about half way down, keeps it tighter)
>Pack is long and if set like suggested by LBT and expose the drag handle, then it will overhand PC significantly (Pic related) To solve this I moved mine up, but now the drag handle is covered. Not an issue since there are a million ways to grab a buddy if you somehow end up in that situation but it's an oversight for sure.
>Need plastic stiffener in straps to stay not floppy, and molle straps not exactly tightest things, there's a little bit of give and play to them. They're not extremely tight like most other molle stuff but the pack stays very tight to PC because of the nature of molle but still something I'd want to see revised maybe.
>Only comes in one size

I would suggest one only if you have stuff to carry other than hydration, or have a need for large hydration bladder. This thing will take

Until they range ban you if you shitpost hard enough or at worst contact your ISP and have you blocked for ban duration. Non static IP routers are pretty common and they're far from a good way to avoid bans. Also ban evasion geta you a longer / permaban... Either way if you're gonna bait mod wrath it'd be appreciated if you did it in another thread. At Ft. Polk, they always called the country "Atropia". Though it changed it's doctrine over the years from being "not-Soviets" to being "not-Iraqi Army" to being "not insurgents".

Last I saw they were a hybrid uniformed/insurgent force aping the kind of structure you'd see in a heavily backed irregular proxy force.

Lmao I tend not to take sides. Did OPFOR against the Serbs once.

It was a pretty vicious notional firefight. I was a SAW gunner, and used my entire combat load. We were a PLT vs a Company of Serbs, so naturally we needed to lay down the scunion. We fucked up by having our support by fire completely get bogged down inna marsh, and we got pushed to the edge of the woodline and were essentially on top of each other. Both sides I guess reached into some sort of 90s animosity.

Yes, if you do stuff with cummerbund then yes. LBT has by far the best "full" cummerbund I've ever seen. If you don't, like no side plates, soft armor, or pouches or comms or anything then no.

But 50%'s a pretty solid sale for LBT so if you want one then now's the time to buy one.
Pls buy Woodland for the memes, I'm considering it.

So the way it was described is to unlaced the last 3 or 4 weaves of the molle holding it on your pc. Then you empty the pack bottom so you can scrunch it up and you use the molle straps to go through the vest's straps and the straps on the bottom of the pack instead of the last 3 straps of the pack you are using now to hold it to your pc.
>>

>chest rig or a plate carrier?
Read pastebin, but I'll spoon feed a bit.

If you want plates then plate carrier. If no plates then a plate carrier is near redundant and chest rig
>Are belt viable
Belts are blessed. Good belts are the reason I still give a shit about gear else it would be pretty stale anymore. Low pro war belts have made PC's + belts amazing set ups and are fantastic for rifle and pistol classes you don't want to bring full LARP kit to.

I would honestly recommend a belt first more than anything unless you're doing some pretty heavy larping or shooting in which case refer to Plate Carrier vs Chest Rig line.
>>
>>33353147
I'm thinking of getting a plate carrier and some steel plates. I like the idea of multihit and it just blows my mind that the military cheaps out and gives people ceramics.
>>
>>33352952
Hesco had some for 360 for both frront and back. Lvl 4. Those are the ones I use and marginally heavier and thicker than issued SAPI.
>>
>>33353173
O boy.
>Steel plates
Don't. Ceramics are cheap enough now there's no reason.
>Multihit
Ceramics will last just as long if not longer against small rounds like 5.56 and below than the spall coating on your steel plate. In which case shrapnel will start being thrown into your arms legs, and worse your neck.

For larger rounds assuming the dude's not putting like 5 7.62's in the same place then the ceramic will outlast the spall coating even longer. This is also goes without saying that Steel gets dunked on by high velocity ammunition in the first place.
>>
>>33353221
I'm just saying if I'm investing the money, I'd rather have something that doesn't break if it falls off a table.

Other anons can chime in on this as it has been beaten to death, but ceramic is better for a larger spectrum of threats. Spalling was also an issue with early steel plates, but the issue has largely been resolved with the application of a liner to the plates. There are some other issues regarding their weight (weigh same as budget level 4 plates but can't stop the same threats) and extra wear to carriers. In the end, I wouldn't say that steel is a horrible choice ( for personal defense here in the states), but I would say their value is less than that of ceramic which has significantly dropped in price.

So,

5.56 on the top left strike face that didn't make anything past a 1/4th to 1/2 inch mound on the back. Didn't penetrate, and then we decided to peel it back hence why it looks worse on the back that what it actually was.

9mm and that didn't penetrate or deform the back.

7.62 NATO and that is the deformed bottom park of the back. It initially hit low and we had to hit it twice in the same area because lolfriendwasntzeroed. Still didn't penetrate but made about a 3 inch mound on the back.

I'm currently looking for some low-vis rigs, specifically designed around wearing under suits or typical Middle Eastern vests.

It's a professional purchase so money isn't an issue.

Currently aware of or considering the following
>arktis M675
>Arktis M674
>First Spear Discreet Operations Vest
I'm extremely skeptical about hook and loop being the only method of retaining pouches.
>First Spear Das Ding
This is what I've been relying on for awhile. It's worked great. My current one is showing its age however.
>unity tactical clutch belt
Seems like another take on the Das Ding, not sure how feel about how shallow the pouches are. Designing it around kydex inserts makes me think it will print more.
