"Because it's 1519" Edition
When I picked Econ as my undergrad degree I knew I'd need a grad degree to take it anywhere, but I got cold feet out of undergrad and decided to take some time off.
Ehh, masters isn't really worth it in most cases. Unless you're going for an MBA, but you'd be a fool to pay for one of those yourself. My only problem with getting into grad school is a lack of recommendation letters (I lack a third one), which wouldn't be as much of an issue if I were to apply to law school. Econ grads tend to score pretty high on the LSAT and I consider myself a very literate person who would be suited for a career in law anyway. I flirted with the idea of a PhD in Econ (harder to get into, first two years tends to be harsh), a masters in International Relations at the university I went to (which has ample connections with the State Department and DoD, thanks Papa Bush) or a degree in law.
Interesting tidbit about Spanish swords.
>Steel Spanish swords of the conquest were about three feet long and relatively narrow, sharp on both sides. The Spanish city of Toledo was known as one of the best places in the world for making arms and armor and a fine Toledo sword was a valuable weapon indeed: the finely made weapons did not pass inspection until they could bend in a half-circle and survive a full-force impact with a metal helmet. The fine Spanish steel sword was such an advantage that for some time after the conquest, it was illegal for natives to have one.
>Like the cavalry, Spanish foot soldiers made good use of swords. A heavily armored Spanish foot soldier could cut down dozens of native enemies in minutes with a fine Toledan blade.
If you think you would end up happier if you went back, then perhaps it would be best. I'm sure you've put a lot of thought into your options already.
It's at least a better idea than learning Spanish on the run.
So what are you doing in the interim?
Tbh I'd go for PhD in econ if you're good enough. I've never looked into PhD programs but aren't they all extremely competitive? I'm surprised we aren't at the point where people are paying to take PhD courses. There must be enough demand from very good students to justify it in a variety of fields.
>non-whites move to western countries
>proceed to complain about how much they hate white people
Well, a PhD locks me into a research career. I don't know if I want to spend the rest of my life dealing with Academia, publishing quotas, tenure rat races, etc.
And, well, there's a PhD program for everyone. Just a matter of how good it is. And I'd say graduate assistantships are a vital element of the PhD program.
Tons of chinks coming overseas to study, though, gotta deal with that shit.
And I'm doing the shitty part time job I did for a living in college.
I don't know, a few things happened this week (or didn't happen, rather) that made me realize I just wasn't motivated to work when I knew it was going to be a short-term thing. I've also
had a lot of time to think after a week of night shifts. Thinking about going to therapy, too.
tl;dr I'm slowly realizing the responsibilities implicit in the freedom exercised in adult life and I'm not adapting quickly enough
I feel like I can understand where you are coming from.
I'm still figuring out what to do too. Sometimes I think just studying to become an RN or accountant right out of high school would have been best. Anyway, no regrets senpai.
Thanks. Mostly I'm just angsting over the fact that I'm very limited in what I can do until various testing dates come up. If I can find a way out of this lease I'll be moving back in with my parents, which will make life easier but fun harder.
Idleness is probably the worst thing to happen to me. I'm confident that I'll get somewhere eventually, I just hate having this desire to act but apparently having nowhere productive to direct it.
Iktf. Like wheels spinning in mud. Especially since I'm almost 25 now, I'm seeing a lot of people my age excelling. Even people who I used to think were very dumb are starting to find their places. I know where I am going too, but I'm just waiting for my turn.
It's all alright, anon. You're heading places.
Besides, your situation could be much worse.
>Besides, your situation could be much worse.
I know, I imagine my life without yuri and I shudder at the possibility.
>It's 6 a.m.
>Sun coming up
>I'm still up
>No work because cut hours
>Nobody to talk to except 4chan
>/cum/ is full of the gay anime guys
Jesus Christ this is some grim shit.
>No work because cut hours
Definitely not related.
I'm up because I've lost control of my life and I've worked late night shifts all week, why are you still up?
Thinking about fucking with this person for something that happened years ago. I'm not usually mean spirited but I think about hurting this person regularly despite not seeing them for nearly a decade. Is revenge satisfying?
Briefly. But they probably won't understand that it's revenge because they aren't as fixated on whatever they did to you as you are. And you'll expend much more effort than you receive in satisfaction.
Are you a dindu?
>Are you a dindu?
Nope. I'm just more or less content to be a loser. I mean all my ancestors and most of my family were/are farmers. At least this way I get to sleep in on occasion and live in a real city.
>went to bed at midnight
>woke up at 4:30
>can't go back to sleep
At least I'll be able to go to sleep early for when classes start tomorrow
And my lineage is steelwrights and rail workers. The mills are closed and the railroads are done but I wouldn't consign myself to such a life even if they weren't.
I don't know then. I'm not sure if you would feel satisfied.
You said it was almost a decade ago, so it must have been pretty bad. Try not to do anything stupid.
Just a community college. Last semester there.
>Last semester there.
Any ambitions of transferring, or are you taking your associates and running?
I won't. Not hurting anyone because I don't want to rot in prison. If I came down with a incurable illness though, I can't say I wouldn't try to hurt some people. My heart doesn't have room for forgiveness. Fortunately, this stuff doesn't bother me too often. Its just one of those days.
>DFW Metro traffic
Well, don't make the same mistake as I did and rush through college.
If you're going in for humanities or social sciences then it's probably as good as any other in the state. And with STEM subjects, internships and/or research projects will matter more in the end.
>You'll never be a yank
>You'll never go to middle and high school
>You'll never be in a social clique
>You'll never participate in real hot dog eating contests
>You'll never play catch with the guys until it gets dark
>You then run home and eat a mcdonalds with mom
>You'll never play little league
>You'll never drive a girl up to makeout point
>You'll never go watch the big game with dad and eat nachos
>You'll never experience fraternity life
>You'll never have a clap
>You'll never meet up with the dudes from college at the bar
>You'll never have a weekend in Vegas and hit all the fast food joints and eat until you puke
>You'll never be a yank
>Unless you're a gender studies major.
What if I am?
That would be redundant, anon. I've already read into your research and you're clearly an expert in the field of gender relations.
For real though, what department are you transferring into?
I just wanted to see what you'd say desu.
had a feeling desu
did I meet your expectations?
Bit late, gotta get a few hours in at least.
Feeling pretty good about the future of the US
Our future is bright lads, I really wish I could say the same about Canada.
You're joking right?
We're ruled by two oligarchic clans of the donkey and elephant who wage war on our minds so we can put them in power.
And they're both fucking awful.
All the presidential candidates are fucking awful.
The election will be fucking awful.
Because it has.
You can tell by looking at old pictures; notice how in 1915 (over 100 years ago) all the men are wearing nice suits, and all the women are wearing frilly dresses?
What kind of poor people do you know that walk around in tailored suits and frilly dresses? Clearly people used to be richer and more sophisticated
Pandering to underprivileged groups and feminism made all of Europe weak socially, they've had the violence taken out of them.
The capacity for violence is an important thing to consider. Too much makes a society unstable, too little makes them unable to defend themselves.
How about Islamic society's capacity for violence comparatively?
In 1915 we were coming out of the Gilded Age, a time very similar to now. The government was full of corporate money and corruption and people got fed up with it. Things started to change and people began enjoying the fruits of American economic growth.
I think you also need to keep in mind that people didn't own closets full of suits back then whereas people nowadays have closets full of regular clothes.
>What kind of poor people do you know that walk around in tailored suits and frilly dresses? Clearly people used to be richer and more sophisticated
Yeah I mean look at those paintings of people in medieval times. All the men wear rich robes of fine silks and the women are wearing tons of jewels. Truly those were the most sophisticated times.
This is why the American South is so important
We might be uneducated and fat, but at least we don't pander to feminists and race baiters.
I live in a college town in GA and everytime I read an article about "oh millenial college kids are so liberal and whiny blah blah", they're always, every single time, referring to some college in the Northeast or California/Oregon/Colorado.
Tl;dr liberals are cancer desu, don't worry there aren't as many as it seems they're just loud
Those places have much more money and influence than the South though.
I agree on the race baiting and feminism, Southerners who actually see racism know that all the symbolic issues are straight bullshit. And feminism never gained any traction in the South either.
>TFW Situational Depression
My GF is leaving me to go to med school tomorrow, I haven't found a job yet and I just want to move.
I'm almost 26 and I need to make sure I have health insurance to get my medication and generally stay healthy.
Been drinking more, gonna miss my gf, don't know if I should find a new one immediately or if I should give it some time. I need a job but they're hard to find because every job I find wants experience... do any other postgrads have this problem?
>working as a cashier
>some mexicans or Peruvians try to order some burgers with their broken English and horrible accent
>I speak to them in Spanish
>Ooh de donde eres ?
>Soy de Canada pero se hablar ingles, Frances y español
>they chimp out and start talking in aztec or some shit
>ESE ESE ESE WEY WEY WEY
>then they left
Why are mexicans such scum?
Writing, journalism, marketing and museum jobs is what I'm going for... know I should have done a hard science or engineering, but that stuff was so boring to me and anyways my friends who did biology and chemistry found it impossible to find jobs too
>tfw not enough force of will to even get up because life is a living hell
Okay lads, what lighting temp you've got in your homes?
Journalism doesn't pay shit and getting a museum job seems fucking impossible. Marketing seems more realistic out of the three. I mean I'm sure there are jobs in journalism but all I see are low paying internships where you just write total bullshit all day long.
I had two friends who were substitute teachers and they both quit within 3 months because they were accused of sexual harassment.
I talked it out with one of em, he said it was the scariest fucking thing he'd ever been through.
Do it. You cannot be to careful, and kids are nuts nowadays.
My bro heard from a student that a girl was going to set him up by waiting with her shirt off in his classroom.
He immediately went and told another teacher and they went together to the principal.
Our other friend was accused outright by someone, he turned over every electronic device he had immediately to show he had nothing to hide.
Shits scary, there's nothing you can really do at that point.
My local school system accepts subs who have completed at least something like 90 hours of class time college. It seems like a pretty easy job. Just pop in the VHS or hand out coursework then sit back.
What is the whitest place in Canada that also easiest to find work? Help me please, ottawastan is fucking horrendous.
>yfw the only people actually competing w bill gates position as richest fuck alive are two mexicans
>See that guy getting punched
>You're probably wondering how I got here.
>We have to rewind a bit for that story.
what kind of parents name all of their children after pastries
Caffeine addiction is a hell of a drug.
Regards, a caffeine addict who is struggling not to drink any.
Okay it's not as bad as most but it is a physical addiction which makes it harder than purely psychological ones.
I want an energy drink so bad right now.
Ay chicanos tengo una mesaje para donald trump
very interesting facts
>Nobody gives a fuck
You sure seem to care a lot, 2bh.
>I hate how x group talks about their hobby so I'm going to bitch about it because that totally doesn't contribute to the very thing I'm complaining about.
Last (you) you'll get out of me m8.
Have you considered getting an MBA outside of America? I am almost done with a BBA in Finance and am considering going to grad school in Germany. The programs they have are usually 1 year and are extremely cheap and/or subsidized by the government.
>not watching, supporting, participating in and teaching the greatest sport with thousands of years of history and culture behind it.
>reducing hundreds of years of European martial knowledge to tip flicking for points and attacking eachother in a straight line
Do you guys shave your nipple hair? Mine gets really long and I feel like I should at least trim it...
What city has the best donuts and why is it Portland?
I'd fight a bloody fight for one last thirsty thursday at my old house near my old college.
>college knocked down the whole neighborhood and built sorority houses on the grave of the prime of my youth
why didn't I party harder
>Yes Mr. Pope, we will abolish slavery Mr. Pope
Probably New York or somewhere with respectable food culture.
The entire West Coast has this problem where they take something and reinvent it, but they also don't know where to stop and end up memeing the shit out of it.
>yesterday one of the best playoff games I've seen in years happened
>NFL/commentators and redditors saying it was a bad game because players actually played with passion
The last bastion of manhood is almost gone... I honestly don't know what I'm going to do when it's gone
Found myself a new /mu/ waifu lads. Taytay and Kitty are passé.
If you have money to spend on the lotto to give to one person you should have money to give extra to taxes. No one wants to pay extra taxes bc it's every man for himself out there. Black people understand this cause the social safety net is so bad that they have to rely on each other for support instead.
been to plenty of parties
tired of singing the same song every time desu rather be alone
That's what they're saying dude. "Seriously?" as in "We have no punchline so let's make fun of how obviously stupid this person is," not "Seriously!" as in "This is seriously right!"
wut? I remember seeing her in some glamour shots a few years ago in Hammer, when did you she get so buch?
no you dummy, they're saying "seriously..." as in they agree with him. free college is something that most people who use twitter would agree with, so they agree with it to get more retweets
>Given the conditions and the application of the Ideal Gas Law, the footballs likely will be well below the mandated minimum of 12.5 PSI. The NFL admitted within the context of the Tom Brady case that it was not aware of the reality that, when footballs are taken into the cold, the air pressure shrinks like a frightened turtle.
>NFL just admitted that Tom Brady is 100% innocent
holy shit senpai how incompetent can one insanely rich organization be?
No, you dummy, they're saying seriously.. as in "seriously.. how can someone be this stupid."
"Seriously.." is what you would say when /r9k/ shows up to your thread and starts throwing spaghetti everywhere for no reason. I think both of you are just looking for reasons to hate people when it's obvious the screencap could be referring to either, there's no specification or context.
So you're trying to say that people don't donate money to charities?
Because if you're saying that you sound like an absolute retard... Especially when talking about the people willing to spend money on the powerball. Poor people are more likely to donate money than middle and upperclass...
1. I don't believe in charity as a replacement for government redistribution.
2. Obviously people donate to charities.
3. People are throwing their money at the chance to win because they are chasing a dream.
4. Not debating poor donate more to charity.
Obv people have the extra to spare just basically throwing it at this total pipe dream, but they will bitch forever if you were to ask them the same amount in taxes.
>It's a comedy page
>regularly posts pictures of dumb people doing dumb shit for laughs
>this picture without any sort of context fits my narrative despite it not making sense compared to what the page is and what it usually posts, and how it usually words those posts
i don't know, whenever someone says "seriously.." it just seems like they're agreeing with whatever was being said/suggested, but you're right that it's hard to judge from lack on context, and i tried to check the twitter but it's suspended
The powerball appeals to people with addictive personalities, the same people who drink and smoke every day.
The government does redistribute wealth, welfare, despite people always complaining about it, isn't in that bad of a position right now.
I'm still not 100% sure what your argument is so don't take this as me chopping it or whatever but I'm going to rant.
As somebody who is poor and lives with poor myself, the system isn't really that bad, sure I believe that wealthy should be taxed much more, but a lot of the issues come from the poor people themselves.
You would be amazed at how often you see people using foodstamps to buy cigarettes or fast food despite it being illegal, places just don't give a single fuck.
And college costing too much isn't really what's causing poor people to stay poor, ESPECIALLY these days. Basic jobs like electrician or plumber are jobs that are already making large amounts of money and are only going to make much more.
>tfw watching the only normie thing you enjoy die slowly in front of you
Everything I love goes away in the end...
I don't even care about this desu I am just saying I understand my black brothers and sisters. The idea that people are gonna pump a billion dollars into the lotto is absurd. If I were in charge around here I'd ban the shit out of the lotto and all other gambling.
I don't really blame poor people for being poor though. Negative feedback loops aren't easily broken.
I mostly have the same feelings as you. I'm finishing undergrad with 6-8k debt. It could have been less but I used some of the money for a better living situation. It's pretty easy to finish undergrad at a state school, even in a place with high tuition, with next to no debt. Millenials have a very strong victim complex and are painting themselves into a box of persecution where everything bad is always someone else's fault.
I'm already at peace, I've already come to the realization that there can't be bad without good and vice versa
That was actually a really really good game, Stillers should've been flagged for two of their dirty hits and they gave that one chimp burifict too much shit for just playing with passion but overall a much better game than I expected to see at all this year.
Pic related, either let defenses do this shit again or get rid of the glue gloves, this sport is becoming a fucking joke and it's embarassing that they call it football still
>If I were in charge around here I'd ban the shit out of the lotto and all other gambling.
tbqh you kind of sound like a socialist or even a communist.
It's not like it's hidden at how unlikely it is to win it. Everytime It's brought up I feel like I hear people say shit like it's more likely to be hit by lightning.
Not to mention if you're banning the lottery for gambling there are literally thousands if not millions of other aspects of society you have to inspect to see if they should also be banned. As somebody in the field myself, the main one I think of is mobile games. They are designed almost 100% around techniques that gambling companies use. They even refer to customers as sale whales when they hook an addict and get them to spend hundreds and even THOUSANDS of dollars on games that only take relatively few man hours to make.
Point taken. There was a guy on /biz/ who had a Minecraft server that was raking in thousands from some players. I just hate casinos and state sponsored lotto since they are so obvious. I'm just pissed about casinos especially cause my state has allowed dozens of them built in the past decade. All the cities see it as a tourist draw then fund one.
I deleted two of my posts that were linked into a thread in /biz/ so the Paki I was arguing with couldn't see that thread.
I mean I live in it my father had the most addictive personality I've ever seen, he died from it too last year. It's hard to watch somebody buy lotto tickets cigs, alcohol constantly just to feel normal, but it's a subject I'm very torn on because they don't seem to be able to control themselves but at the same time you have to basically uproot all of society to get at every addictive aspect of it.
>and I sell in game items and ranks.
Does this really work? I mean what can they actually buy in Minecraft with microtransactions?
Yea there's plugins to add more content and you sell ranks with special commands and cosmetic features like colored name tags or a command to repair their armor for free etc.
Then you can also sell items that are more powerful so it's basically pay to win. On my server if you die you lose the items too. I have seen people spend hundreds of dollars then die in pop and lost it 15 minutes later."
I know that feel, but at least you can still do your sport.
I can't even play football/ soccer anymore at the moment. My life is getting worse and I can't seem to stop it.
I try though, I'll write the local forester and ask him if I can walk around with him for two weeks or something.
This attitude will kill us sooner or later. People say happiness is a choice, and if you tell yourself you'll achieve anything you will also make it. For me that's bullshit.
>tfw no alternate present where the US subdued us and unfucked our shit up
