NATO STRAPS ARE SHIT
>>

why

>>60307624
Happens all the time. One ended up on r/watches.

What's worst is it's always some autist with no self control who overpays at the last second. This is why I usually go for the "for parts or restore" watches since it doesn't fit with the "I want and I want it NOW" mentality. Usually it's a pallet fork here, a cleaning there, or replace the hour wheel and they're good to go.
>>
>>60307624
Know that feel. The fucking snipers pay a fucking shit ton of money for crappy listings, and some use ultra high speed techniques so you can't really compete with them if you're using a regular connection and ordinary snipers

The strap attaches directly to the tiny lugs of the watch head by means of short spring bars.

Not sure how the watch head looks irl without those fake screw-on lugs.

Great, no issues so far, though I've had it for a year. A cool feature is that it automatically adjusts the time when daylight savings begin and also changes the date depending on the month, so you never have to adjust it. Since it's also solar powered making it a really low maintenance watch.

That requires to actually have influential males susceptible to guilt-tripping, since feminists have no power in their own. That is lacking here, in fact some politicians have accidentally slipped some comments out time to time towards female politicians that indicated that they're actual, REAL misogynists. There were shitstorms by womens groups, but everybody just said "lol go fuck you're selves" and the men remained in position, without an apology even.

Lol, even the guy who beat his wife black and blue so bad it became a court case got off. He literally used the "lol she fell I guess" defense, kek.

A lot of the times the watches look better irl than in the pics, but this might not be the case. A light polish might work on the case though, if it doesn't have some fancy Seiko finish.

You'll probably be in trouble with the crystal though, a NOS crystal might be expensive or extinct.

do you guys ever consciously acknowledge that nobody cares about your watch? not trying to hate on watches in general, but it's true that even intelligent normies don't really pay any attention to watches. the differences between a $500 "shitter" and a $2500 watch are pretty much irrelevant to 99.99% of people. so many people here buy mid-tier watches for 'prestige' but they're just not worth it given that legitimately nobody cares.

just a thought, idk
>>
>>60308708
There are rectangular generic replacements available, the only problem being there are three parameters now instead of two (width+thickness for round vs. width+height+thickness), but what we do when there's a special shape is send it off to a guy who normally works on optical lenses. We literally use lenses originally for glasses for crystals like domed rectangular.

Also, in my workplace and my field in general, there are many normies who are interested in watches. Their age varies from 20 to 60.

Good luck finding a replacement crystal, a rectangular bevelled crystal with the corners cut off like a BSG book is very specific.

Citizen eco-drives are fine, good watches. They basically run forever without servicing.

yup, that's the scam with quartz watches. For the cost of a battery change by a 'professional' you can get a new watch. OR just learn to change the battery yourself. OR better still get an eco-drive/light powered watch and have a fuss free watch ownership experience.

You can get casio tough solars like pic related. Same tech as eco-drives.

I think I discovered the cocktail seiko through /wt/ and this time /wt/ really wasn't memeing, this thing looks and feels really nice.

Sometimes I wonder, between Russian watches for the weird movements for a great price (like a really thin Poljot 2209, or an alarm watch, etc.), Seiko divers with a great value for money (turtle, skx007, etc.), and dressy Seikos + Grand Seikos that look and feel fucking great, I can't imagine myself paying 3k for a mid-high end Swiss, or any Swiss at all, unless I was filthy rich and wanted to drop 50k on a crazy complication or novelty, like that razor thin tourbillon Bvlgari.

(And even then, I'd probably opt for a Credor Eichi II)

I'm sure you'll get a lot of flack for this, but I kind of agree with you. I purchased a quartz GS recently and simply did not find it to be that much nicer than the SARB I used to own. Sure, the hands were beautiful and the case finishing was impeccable, but the watch as a whole just left me really cold, once I had it all desire was lost. I'm sure part of it has to do with the fact it was a quartz (no doubt I'd still love a high beat, handwound GS), but I couldn't stop thinking about how good the SARB is for how little it costs compared to GS.

A Grand Seiko is manufactured, finished and QC'd to a level that is in another galaxy from a SARB. Having handled the SARB 033/035 in person and owning a Seiko Brightz SDGM003, I can tell you that even the Brightz is finished much better than the SARB.

However, many people simply don't have the eye for detail to really appreciate the exponentially difference in workmanship on a GS than a SARB, and if that is the case for you, then a SARB is a good fit for you and it doesn't make sense for you to spend GS money.
>>
>>60316534
I see no difference whatsoever.
>>
>>60316156
Have you ever handled these watches in person? I can tell you from experience that the difference leaps out at you when you handle the watches up close.

As an example, my SDGM shits all over a $4000 USD Omega Aqua Terra. The Omega looks and feels like a SARB by comparison.

Whether you're looking at a physical object, or a photograph of that object, the human bias is still there.

The problem is that the computer screen on which the pic is displayed is full of pixels, irregularities and other shit that completely crap up the impeccable finish of the actual grand seiko.
Like smearing shit on a woman's face and trying to see how smooth her skin is through the shit.
>>
>>60316457
>>60316534
Nope. The GS is in another galaxy. Sorry, you are just too much of a pleb to notice it.

Youre telling me I dont have an eye for detail and this is my pic?

Im not arguing the GS isnt finished better. But hardly worth the price (and the hassle of sending it to japan)
>>
>>60316717
Can you please try that again, perhaps in English this time?
>>
>>60316647
>>60316592
>>60316576
You can't tell much from pics.
We're talking about surface finishing that is way too fine to distinguish on your shitty pixel-based monitor, but is obvious as all hell irl.
Try to get your hands on an actual GS, and put a SARB side by side if you can.

I visited a seiko store last week, and handled my first GS.
I went in all skeptical and shit, and for a few seconds after holding the GS I was all "so what's the big deal?".
But then I noticed the polished area of the case. I genuinely thought there was a hole there for a second, it's like a portal to another universe.
And then one thing after the other started catching my eye.
It's pretty unreal.
>>
>>60316755
Fuck off you poor englishfag. You know well what I meant. Do you think you can take pictures like that, and especially when I can look through a high quality macro lens, that I dont know the detailed difference. Pleb
>>
>>60316655
Omega's finish is tragic. Go look at a Speedmaster (any reference). The finish is trash.

The Speedmaster meme can suck my balls.

Why did Omega ruin seamasters with the HEV ("the 2nd crown")?

What kind of an asshole would think that's attractive?

I'd be so inclined as to argue that the "0" marker on the bezel is not centred properly.

Also. It's a gas escape valve.

Exactly my point. The only thing the GS has going for it is the clasp, other than that the finishing is exactly the same.

I've owned both. And again, this is comparing the SARB to a low end quartz GS, not a higher end mechanical or spring drive model- I will wholeheartedly say (from all that I've seen) the higher end models do have much more interesting case finishing, and as shown here, >>60316508 bracelet finishing as well.
>>
>>60317066
Nobody even knows what that means, literally just a font, just walk away from the keyboard nigga, nobody can hurt you online
>>
>>60317095
But what if I encounter a GS in real life?
>>
>>60317119
Just walk away from the gs and close your eyes like haha
>>
>>60317066
It bothers me too, but it is kind of funny that they copy a western invention and even copy a western font for the brand name
>>
>>60317119
Bow to your master.
>>
Can people tell me anything about Dreyfuss, all I can find online is marketing or reviews of specific models.
Are they a decent low end watch?
Should I just get a nice seiko instead?
>>
>>60317137
>>60317066
The very finest Swiss watches have
"Swiss" or "Swiss made" in English right on the dial.

Don't worry about it.
>>
>>60317210
Get a seiko, then when you learn about watches, you can get something else

yeah except for the fact that servicing a mechanical is done once every 5 years and costs like twice as much. An Ecodrive is once every 20 years and costs not much more than the cost of a battery.
