I want to buy t450s or similar newer thinkpads in India. My budget is around 50-70K INR . I'm looking for SSD + Backlit keyboard + Good Processor + 8GB RAM. How does your trackpoint look like?

I just got a set of 5 soft rims from eBay and the first one is slowly getting darker after two weeks of use. I can't seem to get it clean in any way.

I have been using a cat tongue (soft dome, is it called?) one previously, and it has become completely dark.

Anyways, the special feature about these ThinkPads is that taking them apart is a lot like taking apart an enterprise server. Almost everything is toolless and put in its own organized little box that you just pull out and you're done.

I use tpfancontrol on my X220. Recently it started showing the temperature of the battery and the fan runs faster than BIOS mode while in Smart Mode 1. Any way to fix this?

X240 IPS 8GB 256GB for €400?

So I've got a T430, and the touchpad in Windows is literally unusable. When I try to use 2 finger scrolling, it will jerk up occasionally when I'm trying to scroll down. It's glitchy and jumpy. The whole touchpad will also just freeze occasionally. This makes it pretty much unusuable. However, in Linux? Works flawlessly.

Am I just stuck dealing with the god-awful Windows drivers, or is there anything I can do about it?

I own an X300, and a X200, they are pretty lackluster in today standards.
If you could I'd get the X201, and if possible do the AFFS mod if you can find it priced right, if not, an IPS X220/30 would serve you well.

However, the X300/1 has one of the greatest feeling typing experiences I've had, hands down the best of the Core 2 Duo era probably the best keyboard Lenovo had made, there's like no flex.

Yeah the screen sucks, TP user 600X went to great lengths to get an IPS mod.

I just scored a IBM Thinkpad 570E for 8 bucks. Great day. My old school collection is growing. I got a 755CE, and a 380XD.

So in min school we are using Thinkpad X131E laptops and i think they work pretty damn good with specs but the quality on the mousepad and the plastic are pretty mäh.. My trackpoint buttons don't work, might be a driver issue. I've configured my trackpad to just be buttons and gestures, while I use the clitmouse to move. Its a great set-up, but I normally end up using my little mouse while at home / not at the office. Love it though, for as cheap as it is its a hard worker.

There is no such thing as a "laptop" ssd. Both desktops and laptops use 2.5" ssds. Get a halfway reputable manufacturer, and you're looking at like 5 years. Samsung, intel, kingston, adata, all solid manufacturers. OCZ makes the fastest, but they sometimes just die.

An x220 that's in good working condition, will. That one, probably. Looks like it'd be pretty fucked up though. Spring an extra 30 bucks and find out in better condition. Well, unless your schoolwork includes any real computing (modeling, video editing, heavy programming, music making) you can pick more or less any model, with T420blazeit being the overall recommended unit, at 14" and 5 pounds, or the smaller counterpart being x220 at 12.5" and 3.5 pounds.
both cost around $100-$200 depending on the specs.
You could also look into the T5xx models if you need a 15" device.
