Why does Ryzen perform worse with more cores/threads in games?

>~45 fps with 2-3 cores, 0 threads, 2-3 total
>22-35 fps with 4 cores or 3+3, 4-6 total

That's far too big of a difference to explain with margin of error. Are all the BIOS flawed?

buggy scheduler. expect a software fix.
>>
>>59285906
Games are optimized for ~2 cores usually, and enabling more cores in Ryzen means higher thermal output, which means it has to scale itself down to lower clocks.

Someone disabled 4 cores and SMT in Ryzen, overclocked it to 4.2GHz, and it was on par with a 7600k in games.
>>
>>59285931
but linux is not supposed to have a buggy scheduler.

this has to point to a flaw in the BIOS?

Been running Linux Mint for a couple of weeks now. Getting it setup was a little bit of work. Installing shit has been fine though and everything seems to work fine.

Why do people hate Linux? Are those people just extremely fucking autistic? I haven't used Linux in years and still this shit isn't hard.

Why would I help my competitors by giving out my source code if the majority of users don't care about freedom of the software, they just want the program to work.

1: Because nobody sane would install a random non-free package. Enjoy either not having a userbase or having a small retarded one.

2: Because you decided to act like a proper human being for once?

If you would like to try out GNU/Linux you can do one of the following:
0) Install a GNU/Linux distribution of your choice in a Virtual Machine.
1) Use a live image and to boot directly into the GNU/Linux distribution without installing anything.
2) Dual boot the GNU/Linux distribution of your choice along with Windows or Mac.
3) Go balls deep and replace everything with GNU/Linux.

Why is apt absolute shit? Something as simple as removing the DM results in 30+ packages marked for autoremove including the xinit, xorg, cups, python, and other packages that shouldn't even be removed. I will never again use apt based distros again like Debian or Ubuntu because no other package manager is this retarded.

>We thank you greatly for all your support this is a sad choice but one that couldn't be avoided. This has been a very hard choice to make but lifestyle and future direction changes needed to be made most importantly are the lifestyle changes. Cyberfox is still going to be as great as ever for the ESR cycle.

>What does this mean as a Cyberfox user, this means in 12 months you will likely have to find another browser but there still remains an uncertainty that the browser could continue past this point with a new lease of life but at this stage consider it 12 months to EOL (End of life). Sorry for such a long post but i felt you all deserved a good explanation about whats happening for the browsers future and its current direction.

Well now that Cyberfox is about to die, where to?
I went with this browser quite a while ago after seeing a recommendation for it here because it still allowed the use of treestyle tabs addon and whatever other reasons I can't remember anymore.

Cyberfox was stable, worked well with addons, didn't ugly up the UI with new shit trying to look like Chrome, and now it's going away.

What text editors/IDEs do you use for programming? I've been using Atom for about a month and I love it. Only complaint is that it's slower than most other editors (guessing it's just because it's Electron based), but it's still adequately responsive.

I'm going to be straight with y'all, I'd like to make a small cute game (playable in 2-10 minutes) to impress a woman I work with who develops games semi-professionally. She's hella cute and my friends have suggested I skip the game and just play her Wonderwall instead, but I'm not about that life. I'm totally new to this and she knows it. I know I can do the music and art myself, and while I can't really program, I've made some websites in Ruby/Rails and I've been watching Unity tutorials.

For this I assume I'll be using Unity with C# because that's what I have access to. I'll be making it on a Macbook Pro but it will need to be able to play on a Surface Book.

Is this feasible? What do I have to know before I begin? Any and all suggestions and ideas are welcome.

The satisfaction of building your own machine

users who build their own machines understand every part of their pc. Everything has been meticulously placed, and when shit breaks or doesn't work like intended, they can fix it faster.

newfags who buy their pc shell out more money and often don't know the difference between an HDD and a CD drive

Nothing, as long as you're fine with paying a bit more for less product.

It's a fair deal until you step into the realm of gaming, since there's so much snake oil, hype, and deception.
