>Decided to turn on the TV and watch some latin dubbed SU
>mfw side characters (specially Ronaldo and Mayor Dewey) and Sardonyx have the best voices
What did she mean by this?
What kind of things does Yellow Diamond make her Pearl do for her?
>Blue Diamond covers her eyes
>Sapphire and Blue Pearl work for her, also cover their eyes
>Amethyst covers one eye
What does that mean? Probably nothing, since many of BD's followers such as Lapis have nothing on their eyes, but what if?
I wonder if storing other gems takes a great deal of effort and energy to do. I wonder if other gems can store stuff or if it's just pearl.
Why did Pearl even have lapis in her gem in the first place.
Lapis doesn't cry, unless you count that bit in Chille Tid where she was spewing water from her eyes and mouth in a dream sequence. But yeah, it's pretty obvious even at a glance that good Gems are a distant exception. Hell, let's look over the good ones.
>A sense freak made of two lovers so codependent they've permanently subsumed their own identities, who consistently resorts to violence at the first possible opportunity
>A homicidally devoted arm candy-turned-knight, whose response to human theories about the universe amounted to "aw, that's cute"
>A glutton who eats for the sensation of it, beats up people weaker than her for fun, and shapeshifts to ward off the bottomless pit of self-loathing
>A retired general with an entire graveyard of skeletons in her closet, who considered human beings to be on par with cute animals
And again, these are considered the "good" ones. It's pretty clear that Gems, as a race, would be the antagonists in any other setting short of 40k.
>we don't know if they evolved on their own or were created
>or were created
honestly, i dont know. she has shown she doesn't need to do that to summon shit. i think she just likes being a showoff.
Hey, can I get in on the simulator? What do I have to do, talk about how I want to molest Connie while wearing the Frybo costume? Or maybe how i want to see Pearl eat out Peridot's ass with bluecheese dressing? You tell me.
>You will never use an icepick to dig out Lapis Lazuli's gem while she squirms and cries for you to stop
>You will never swallow her gem whole to let it sit in your caustic stomach
>You will never feel what it's like to have her reform in your stomach and free herself chest burster style
Something about being the underdog, I guess. I mean, she is so clumsy and unlucky. She cannot be evil even when she tries.
She's a maniac, maniac on the floor
And she's dancing like she never danced before.
She's experienced a lot of character growth from being un-empathetic tech from homeworld to out newest member of CG's, and we're proud of her. She's also cute, but not 100% out of character from when we first meet her
Pearl: Demo (Specifically Demoknight)
Steven: Pyro (Probably the damned Phlog.)
(I base this on skill sets and class learning curves.)
I wonder if they could handle comp.
>Mixing pink and blue gives a light shade of lilac
well whatever it is, can't be any worse than what Blue Diamond makes her sadfuck Pearl do for her.
>Pearl was Rose's own storage unit
>that's why she felt so betrayed to find out about the stuff in Lion
Man, I know it's not going to happen, but it'd blow my mind this meticulous lore-building
I see a lot of myself in her, her bad points included, and it makes me really empathetic to her
>listening to a faggot that clearly has it wrong.
Amethyst is, at minimum, 4,000 years old.
>Gems came to Earth sometime over 5,750 years go
>War began officially 5,500 years ago
>Pearl says she fought a 1,000 year war for this planet
>War ended sometime around 4,500 years ago
>Amethyst's hole is 500 years NEWER than the others, meaning she came out 500 years after the rest
>At that point, it all depends on when they stopped the kindergarten
Considering they were able to set up all the cluster shit, I'm going to guess the gems actually didn't stop the kindergarten production till literally the end of the war. That'd mean amethyst emerged 500 years after 4,500 years ago.
Ergo, Amethyst is at least 4,000 years old.
That's how you lorefag.
>Amethyst meets a properly cooked and complete Amethyst
>Gets the living stuffing beaten out of her
>another Zone picture of my waifu
I've had enough. Zone dies tonight.
So what kind of OP nonsense makes the diamonds so special? Are they just exceptionally huge, powerful gems, or would they have a corrupting influence type deal?
Like, Gems that stay away from their diamond for too long become more independent and individualistic, but if they are returned in time they go right back to how they were.
>My Little Pearl
You think on Homeworld there are gems that gets off on collecting Pearls, and have secret Pearl conventions where they compare and trade them?
Steven: Medic. Heals everybody, likes to set up that shield thingy in MvM. Goes Battle Medic for one game and regrets it.
>Garnet: Soldier. All-rounder, changes up her loadout a lot depending on what the enemy team will do next. "Hey, Garnet, do you have a Buff Bann - oh!"
>Amethyst: Scout. Runs around the map double-jumping and FONing opponents in the face and laughing her ass of. Makes jokes about how Mad Milk is actually semen.
>Pearl: Sniper. Point and click. People think she's aimbotting, at which she yells back "You're aimbotting!"
>Peridot: Engineer. Downloads the map, finds the perfect Sentry point, then turtles there before Amethyst switches to Spy and stab-and-saps her.
>Lapis: Pyro. Looks like a W+M1 at first, then it turns out she's fucking mastered that airblast.
>Jasper: Heavy. Holds down the fire button for the first thirty seconds and doesn't kill anything, then switches to the fists and charges in with better results. Eventually punches the computer.
I still don't think Lion existed prior to Steven's birth.
I think he's a part of Rose she split off from herself before giving birth to steven a la Cat Fingers.
I honestly believe Pearl when she insists "Rose didn't have a Lion!"
Pearl knew about the secret armory and shit, but she had no clue about Lion. And she's been around with Rose since the very start of the rebellion.
Rose would have made use of Lion prior if he was around.
>pearls calling eachother 'pearl'
that has got to feel weird
On their ability to grasp the classes. Medic is a thankless class that requires skill. If you don't do it right, your team gets pissed.
And despite being a Pyro main, it doesn't require a whole lot of skill. your ely heavily on others. A combo being the prime example.
Amethyst should be Spy so we can have Onion as Pyro.
HOW DID YOU GET SO BIG
HOW DID YOU GET SO STRONG
As a dude I wish I had hips like that
I like to think these two gossip about stuff.
>typical weeaboo spiel of "japanese women are the most feminine ever, they are the epitome of femininity. western women are DISGUSTING MAN APES UGHHHH!!"
well someone had to calm her down
If Steven Universe dedicated an entire arc to the Beach City citizens and the city's backstory, would you like that?
Do you think it could be interesting enough for the target audience?
I'm talking about after the drill fails.
They're actually about the same height. They just look shorter because normally we see them hanging out with Steven, who's very short, instead of Greg and Rose, who are a lot taller. Garnet still towers over Greg and Pearl is still about his height.
Also, fun behind-the-scenes tidbit: There is no "height chart" for the characters in SU. Characters freely change heights depending on the scene, as long as they're still in the right "order." So Lapis is always going to be taller than Amethyst but shorter than Pearl - but that can be anywhere from "a head taller than Amethyst" to "twice as tall as Amethyst."
>denied her chance to finally fight Rose
>sick burns from Garnet's song
>mission is a complete failure
>yellow diamond will never love her
>gives up morals for a chance at victory
>trapped at the bottom of the ocean by some brat for months
Will Jasper ever recover?
Anon, you're off by 1,000 years. And besides, she most likely came out 500 years after it ended rather than 500 after it started
Oh, I see, you're just blatently spreading false information and claiming retarded theories as facts. Gotcha.
>If the Statues of the Sky Arena are to be trusted.
God damn it I cant comprehend this level of autism
You likely have never even been to japan you weeb faggot
You dont know shit about japanese culture or their women from watching anime
>Still believing the statue bullshit
>After seeing our glorious Gemperors Sheev and Giraffe
Anon, let it go. The statues were just Gem warriors, not the diamonds.
DECLARING FINAL RESULTS OF http://strawpoll.me/6533650
Top 3 episodes of /sug/ are:
1. Jailbreak with 103 out of 215 votes (48%)

When will Steven just get it over with and
>Are mods allowing our existence on /co/?
>Do we have any update on the length of the current hiatus?
>I haven't been here for a couple days
yeah that explains it
what kind of alternate universe do you come from where cn actually cares about its audience
So far, no more word from mods besides what was said on the last day of the bomb. As far as I'm concerned, we're here till we're given notice of eviction.
As for hiatus, still nothing confirmed. My bet still rests on feb. 18th.
>So far, no more word from mods besides what was said on the last day of the bomb.
>So far, no more word from mods
>no more word from mods
the mods of /co/ were the crewniverse the whole time!?
From what we know of Pearls, they are basically glorified pets. It wouldn't surprise me to see a high level gem giving her Pearl a headpat.
I don't care, I love the "Let me @ em!" bit.
Just got back from /trashsug/.
Fuck guys, lets seriously not get banned.
>not liking older and more mature sounding women
>If Pearl was a fusion
This brings up a question, what would happen to two Gems gemstones in a fusion if both gemstones were in the same place?
>The Diamonds were, and still might be, seen as Gods among Homeworld Gems.
>In reality, they're just powerful Gems with unique abilities that set them apart from the rest.
That's what I think, at least.
Asian women sound like chipmunks. Totally distracting and obnoxious.
>"That's what I think"
>implying that's not exactly what the show outright showed us
You don't get a prize for paying attention, anon.
The two war theories that people had a long ass time ago because of certain factors not seeming to add up?
There was no second war. The war for Earth between the Crystal Gems and Homeworld occured 5,500 years ago (databook), after the rebellion grew from the actions of Rose and Pearl (The Answer), and lasted 1,000 years (Back to the Barn).
"Several hundred years" sometime during the war the Cluster experiments took place (When it Rains). These took place largely under the Prime Kindergarten (Keeping it Together) where Amethyst came from (On the Run). Amethyst emerged from the Kindergarten 500 years after everyone else (Too Far) and came out when there was no Gems present there for a LONG time (On the Run). She joined the Crystal Gems at a later point (Steven's Lion).
That's most of the timeline we know of.
Where's your evidence faggot?
If you had sex with a fusion, would it count as a threesome?
>Steven is able to impregnate gems to create more gems, thus having kindergardens made obsolete as it does not require to drain a planet of its resources
>steven is also able to retain his physical form as well as the gem getting impregnated
>this is Roses will
>for steven to fuck every single gem and revert gemkind's declining populace
I noticed this and it's really fucking weird. In the earlier episodes Sadie is depicted as an adolescent woman in her 20's, but when she reappears in the 2nd season she's literally as short as Steven whose 14 and looks like she's been shrunken into a kid. It's remarkably inconsistent.
>that reaction image
So how long until Steven Universe gets the Crash Bandicoot Retold treatment?
When's Steven's gonna get a cool pair of shades?
When's he gonna run up to Garnet, excited to show her how cool he looks?
When's Garnet gonna give him a thumbs up while secretly shedding a single tear of pride?
I need these things to happen.
At the rate the fanbase is going?
Like 5-6 years
You need a manchild who grew up on the source material to achieve a level of suck equivalent to CBR or Sonichu
Nope, anything Steven wants goes. Especially pic related
It's more the fact that Quartz is a relatively abundant mineral, and it's also a mineral with various variations, and stuff like Jasper and Amethyst is made when impurities are introduced to the rock(on earth, at least). It's also fairly durable.
Though, if Quartz' are easier to make as footsoldiers, then why are the tinier Rubies called Rubies? Would it not make more sense if Ruby's were Citrines?
>The final boss is gonna be White, Yellow, and Blue (and maybe Pink?) Diamond fused
Jesus, I just checked that thread to see what the deal was about.
At least the worst of the shitposters are there instead of here.
>We have no concept of scale of consistency eat shit nerds
>that goofy smile
I fucking love Peridot. I'm glad I invested in her smile early on. Look at how much it has paid off.
You realize new gems don't come from inpregnation right? That Steven is essentially his own mother and that her gem is his gem right? But if he wants to reset the powers at be in his own image I guess he could impregnate the Diamond Authority.
Good. Much as I like this show, it would be nice to laugh at bad fanfic comics.
I specifically want to see a Dragonball Z ripoff that turns Steven into Goku, and has tons of pointless OCs and gratuitous poorly drawn nudity.
CBR was fucking crazy.
>Alright Steven, now I want you to stick your dick in all the Crystal Gems
>Um... Mom? Why do you want me to do that?
>It's my keikaku
AND THEN THEY ALL FUCKED
The intent seems to be to vary the characters based on the needs of the scene. Like, Lapis in her first scene in Mirror Gem is almost Steven's height. This is to emphasize how close him and her are, as Steven is Lapis's first friend in millennia. In Chille Tid, Lapis is much taller, which demonstrates the distance between the two, and the burden Lapis is carrying.
Those teeth, ugh.
The worst part is, I know it's not a part of any of their half-assed costumes.
>asking for YD fanart without actually asking
What are you talking about anon?
The biggest thing for character design is to have a unique and recognizable silhouette while keeping the character itself simplified. I think they hit that on the head pretty well with YD.
It looks like the autistic shitposter is back in the thread. Remember to ignore and report, everyone.
Design bible, the thing you always refer back to when it comes to posing, mannerisms, height, style, whatever the fuck you want.
If you have a character complicated enough, you can make it a personal character bible full of stuff the character may like - it's a good exercise to get more familiar with a character. And it's good for when you pass off writing/drawing that character to someone else.
>What are you talking about anon?
Whatever Sugar used to pitch the cartoon. Something the storyboarders use for reference and don't deviate from.
Inconsistent character design just reeks of unprofessionalism and opens to door to shoddy design changes like pic. YD either went through a redesign, which is one thing, or the storyboarders didn't give a fuck.
Suggest whatever you want, plebe.
What do you think Lapis, Peri, and YD's weapons are?
I'll admit I miss the possibility that Peridot's limb enhancers were prosthetics, as little sense as it makes that a gem would need them. There was something really hot about the idea of detaching her extremities at her pleading behest to ravish her while she writhes in helpless bliss.
Is "Limit creativity" just a quick codeword for actually having to impose some standards for quality and talent on the storyboarders that they'd actually have to work around set, established heights?
They're working on an animation assembly line, why the hell do they get "creativity?" It's like a colorist just deciding their personal head-canon is that Amethyst should be blue and they do that and vary shades not limit the 'pallet creativity', it's ridiculous.
Get some real talent or go home Sugar.
The show seems to go by a concept of "keeping them in the right order of size is more important than keeping them exactly the right size." Unless you really pay attention to heights and whatnot and mentally measure the Gems with Steven as a yardstick, it's not that noticeable.
Like, take this shot for instance. Steven is taller here because they needed a shot of them standing together as a team, and if Steven were as big as he was in the other image, he'd be out of shot.
Almost forgot it was the Stan Lee/Jim Henson one.
But how exactly does YD divert from their character standards?
The height stuff is just goofy nonesense. tons of cartoons do that shit.
Otherwise, I don't see how she's any different than say Jasper was in The Return.
Stylistically, she's just like any other gem, just lankier. And I mean, we honestly only had 7 base gems to go off of here, so there's clearly room for more crazy shit.
Her neck looks weird and it appears that it was a design change done by a story-boarder.
Hence if we had more story-boarder discipline, it wouldn't exists and Ian "massive fluctuations" of character height, design (bobble heads) wouldn't exist either.
>Liking something as low-common-denominator as ERB
>Makes someone a contrarian
I don't like opera either, so do I even out as a ordinary roman citizen?
It's not just the designs that are inconsistent, the writing and tone is all over the place. Some of the dialog in the semi-recent episodes, like the entirety of Peridot's return to her acceptance felt poorly paced, with clunky dialog and characterization all over the place.
>"Waitaminute Steven, one more thing!"
>"I love you."
That felt like someone trying to be cheeky but just came off as incredibly cringy. They need to kind of reel it in, slipups like this stand out.
Peridot best s2 gem
This is not up for discussion
>The height stuff is just goofy nonesense. tons of cartoons do that shit.
SU looks best when this doesn't happen. Although this is my opinion so I'm not expecting someone who already likes SU's current design to really care about changing it.
Steven Universe presents a remarkably continuous series of events.
ERB is just WHAT WACKY DUO WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE RAP AT EACH OTHER NEXT?? COMMENT YOUR SUGGESTIONS, AND DON'T FORGET TO LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE!
What Ian is saying is that creating interesting shot compositions and cute scenes sometimes requires them to stretch the scale up and down. All shows do this. The animators on Toy Story would routinely have Woody's feet poking through the ground out of shot. Ian is just being upfront about it.
I thought that scene was really cute actually, but to each their own I suppose
>Unless you really pay attention to heights and whatnot and mentally measure the Gems with Steven as a yardstick, it's not that noticeable.
Yeah, it kinda is.
Sometimes you see Pearl as skinny, lithe and tall like she's supposed to be and other's she's shrunken into a womanlet. Same with Garnet, who goes from being slightly taller than Steven to as tall/an inch or two shorter. The character designs show some intention behind them, and getting something as simple as height so inconsistent is distracting everytime your eyes have to readjust.
I feel that isn't a problem for me. Considering the tone of the show, and character growth, everything seems in character. Sure, it's a little cringey at times, but the show has always had little embarrassing moments. It wouldn't be the same SU without them
If it deserved actual criticism, it would receive it.
I wouldn't have mind Garnet and Amethyst's.
But Pearl's is just down right butt ugly.
Look how much thicker her legs are compared to her stomach. They're like 1/5 the width of her hips.
Steven is predestined for God Gemperor of Mankind and Gems.
Honestly, for all the people complaining about the height shifting, I'm pretty sure most of them never notice that it really still works.
It's actually pretty rare when the size variance becomes too extreme and noticeable.
Case in point, how everyone though the gems were smaller in Story for Steven.
Tons of anons thought that Amethyst was a small child and that it didn't make sense. But really, the reason everyone's heights seemed different was the lack of Steven acting as a measuring stick.
When you actually look and compare them, their heights are the same as they are now. It's just that Greg's proportions were the real problem that episode and we kept trying to see him as Steven's size, so everything seemed smaller.
>The pilot designs will always be the best.
my fucking fellow basketball american
Fuck you, dude. Garnet being more emotionally open and upbeat since being forced apart and then reforming in Jail Break is one of the fucking best things in the show. And Garnet's not even my favourite.
Garnet's design is all about long skinny shapes meeting big blocky shapes. You've got thin slender arms going into bulky shoulderpads, a waspy waist stuck in between a fat chest and massive tree trunk thighs, and a waify neck supporting a massive cuboid fro head.
>Preferring Pearl's weird diaper pants
what are you GAY?
It's very unprofessional, and often takes it's participants completely out of character for the sake of poor humor (best example I can remember is Master Chief playing up the dudebro attitude, rather than having him be In character and dry wit as he is in the games). As a result, it comes across as cringey, the lowest denominator of humor, similar to 'the cake is a lie' jokes in web-comics, or 'dude what if mushrooms were crack cocaine for mario dude lol'
>this shit taste
>Where does Lion come from
Holy shit, this thing may actually give away a lot of lore.
>You purchased this item on July 28, 2015
aww, I like that line.
I have noticed one thing, and I don't know if anyone else has noticed this too, but there's a lot more exposition lately. Now that the show is relying more and more on continuity, they've been constantly throwing reminders in about what the Cluster. Is that a trend that's going to continue? Because with an 11 minute run time, I don't think they should dedicate too much time to exposition.
