Why do feel I enjoy a show VERY loosely based on something I've never read more than the Flash, a show I've been a big fan of, but haven't watched since the mid-season finale?Or is that the point? I don't know Lucifer the comic, therefore it's just an urban fantasy detective show? While Flash has a third evil speedster big bad in a row? Why is Tom Ellis so wonderful?

Because all we get these days are Marvel hate threads.
What are your hopes, fears, expectations? I don't really see how they can end Secret Empire without some cosmic cube shenagians (even though they said that won't happen, but ofc Marvel lied many times in the past). They can't just shove under the rug all the shit Steve has done without a massive redemption arc. Or maybe they will go the Final Crisis route, and never acknowledge what happened? Shame that people got triggered and sales are bombing, because this is the best event in a very long time.
Don't really care about Generations, all of those characters have met before, so who gives a fuck that they meet again?
Another question, how will they restore the characters in the Legacy teaser (Thor is unworthy, Hulk is dead, Iron Man is in a coma)? I hope they change creative teams, even though Rebirth showed that strong editors and a good direction can improve a writer's work (Venditti, Percy, Humphries etc.)
What are your dream Legacy titles?

A lot of people disliked Joy's design when Inside Out initially came out. They didn't like that everyone was mostly monochromatic while Joy was the only one with two bright primary colors.
Someone at Pixar also mentioned how she was initially designed with blonde hair very early in production but they changed it because they didn't want her to look like Tinkerbell. Why they didn't just change the green dress instead, I have no idea.

I just want to take a minute to appreciate the fact that Ed, Edd, n' Eddy is one of few, if not the only, shows I've seen whose Rashomon episode is a TRUE Rashomon episode in the sense that EVERYONE'S story is either bullshit, or at least heavily influenced by the storyteller to the point of being unreliable.
Seems like every other show that does pulls a "Now, here's the third version of the story, told by the reliable/straight-man character, that shows what REALLY happened", rather than leave it up to the audience to discern the true story from the versions they were told.

This isn't like Disney's Atlantis and Treasure Planet where it bombed and made them not want to make action/adventure shit anymore, most of the action cartoons of this era performed legitimately well. If anything, 2k3 TMNT did so well that they ended up milking too many seasons out of it.

I’ve wondered if a lot of the modern writers don’t understand the concept of heroism. I’ve complained about this so much on another site I think they cringe when I start up again. Steve Ditko will often introduce a character who, while not a super-villain, is an enemy of the hero, possibly the more dangerous one. He tries to convince everyone that the hero is actually some kind of sick, evil, degenerate, who goes around embarrassing the common man and devaluing his worth by these “heroics”. He... but I could write pages (and I have). The logic goes like this: “I’m a shallow, selfish, coward, and I’m alright, so the hero, who seems to be compassionate, altruistic, and courageous, must be wrong”. There is a point early on when J. Jonah Jameson spells this out.
Alan Moore has done several series that deconstruct the super-hero genre, and too many writers today seem to want to do the same thing. Over and over and over again. Every bleeping month! Do they think that is what readers want? Do they think they can do a better job at it than Moore? Anyway, this attempt at creating ”realistic” super heroes makes Reed somewhat of an authoritarian, Tony an alcoholic, Hank a wife-beater, Johnny a perpetual immature screw-up, Scott a totalitarian, and Peter a whiny little schnook. There was a point in the ‘90s where it seemed like very superhero hated their fathers (or father figures). And their fathers were a pretty despicable bunch, even if they had never been that way before. I’ve always felt that this said more about the writers than it did about the heroes. It was like “everybody hates their father”, but I didn’t hate my father, and, folks, I could tell you stories… Anyway, how often can you deconstruct the genre before you break it? Perhaps a better question is how many time can you deconstruct a genre before you realize that it has been done before?

I’ve often joked that the next big event will retcon all those gold and silver age stories out of existence, so complaining that the stories aren’t as good as they used to be is pointless because they ”didn’t happen”. The whole Hydra Cap thing seems to do that, it makes all the stories written by all the Marvel writers and artists since the ‘40s a lie. What, are the modern writers embarrassed when someone thinks that a 45-year old story by Roy Thomas or Stan Lee is better than the one they wrote last month? If so, I wouldn’t think it was Stan’s or Roy’s fault. I don’t think I’ve read anything contemporary about Cap since a miniseries by Steve Rude 15 or so years ago, and this thing made me mad. But it didn’t make me want to go out and pick up the latest issue of “The Secret Empire”, which is what they wanted.
Looking back at a lot of those silver age stories (Showcase Presents and Essential Marvel), some were real stinkers, but most were fun, very few were mean-spirited, and some were absolute gems.
