this thread is for anyone to post a cook-along or OC food/drink pics if they dont want to make or use another thread
>cooking with cat edition
went in the freezer to get chicken to thaw and see this, dont remember putting that in there lol
does that make you feel more comfortable?
Im the only white guy in the middle of the hood in TX, trust me I have my fair share of fire arms, Ive chosen to leave them out of this actually out of respect for progun, Im no progun
have to run down to street and then ill get started, making more curry, im making it a weekly thing because i like having it for quick meals
had to google that, and now i will def be trying it in the future, do you add any cheese? it says some use feta and im obsessed with feta, i try not to buy it cuz ill just eat a carton by itself, what bread do you use if any?
>cut the stem parts out then squeezed out a lot of the seeds and juice into the sink cuz that shit is not what i want
shit looked dank man feel free to post anything OC related in this thread I enjoy it personally this a community thread, by /ck/ for /ck/
i may not pay much attention to tripfags but they are a part of the board if they contribute, when I first stumbled on this site progun was one of my favorites, we need more people like him and borneo, you dont necessarily need a trip to be recognized but i dont auto-hate them until they become just attention whores with no real contributions, that opiate guy contributes, skeak was before my time but im sure he did too since i still hear about him, i may be drunk tho
progun was a fucking ass pirate, that thread where he was drunk as fuck and came out was fucking classic. newfags won't remember that after that, when he sobered up and tried to say he was "just fucking around", was when he fled /ck/ in disgrace. anyone have the screen caps?
aw fuck pls dont shit on progun here lol, i didnt know that but it doesnt change much half the people here think feminine cocks arent gay lol
>rough choppin, ate half of one of these chilis to confirm if its still hot, and yes they are..
it wasn't even that funny that he was gay, it was his inept, massive damage control a few days later that was so great. dude didn't come around much after those threads lol. then some of his boys started bombing threads trying to deny the whole thing had ever happened, shit was sad
It's really good, I can see feta being good on it. Maybe let it solidify a bit and then let the feta melt on top. Or you could just stir it in and see what happens.
The picture was blurry and was sideways. other than that it's a perfect pic. Didn't wanna shit up a good thread with low quality pic, but here it is again either was. Will have to use my digital cam instead of my old iphone 4 camera to keep up with OP's pic quality.
well this is bumming me out, if progun lurks i hope he makes a return most people dont care if he likes wang, fuck the haters
anyways, i had some thighs i wanted to use but they smell off now so had to thaw some breasts, not happy about using only white meat but such is life
you know its done when...lol who cares
ok enough talk of sexual preferences pls
forgot i have to marinate this chicken so i cut it all sloppy as shit and imma let it marinate for like 20 minutes and feed some cats and shit
I haven't been feeling well so I made some soup.
Sautéed onion in sesame seed oil and then tossed in some garlic. Put some broth in and simmered four carrots and three potatoes. Added the rest of the vegetable broth (2L) and threw in half a cabbage and two chicken breasts plus a can of tomatoes. Seasoned it with black pepper, salt, basil and oregano. Cooked it on high for 25 mins and served it on some rice.
looks good for soup, living in tx i have never been a huge soup person cuz of the heat looks cozy tho
cooking the chicken in batches like another anon suggested, trying to make a extra large batch and im wingin it so well see wat happens
add the juices from chickens and the sauce, then simmer and add water and simmer and get it silky, no idea what silky means but i do what i want fuck the police
k add salt to taste, then add cream/yogurt or what im doing this time is adding coconut cream cuz rebel
add chicken simmer a minute, then add garam masala then you done
alright there, its the best ive made so far, gonna have to measure the ingredients next time and rewrite this janky ass recipe, coconut cream worked great no toots later
gonna try to finish star wars 5 and take a nap later yall
I really hope you ignore the shit posters. Your OC along with the influx of others, is very well appreciated by all. There are even those who, like me at one time, never posted or spoke up. I appreciated the content but opted to not post. But I had to say something when these ignoramuses began spouting off.
I appreciate it and no worries i am not easily discouraged
I agree with you both
im in bed now but i will try to remember to post the link later, its an indian chef that sucks at making written recipes but knows his shit so i watched the vid like 40 times and tried to mimic him
im just fattening her up, she is very related ;^)
imma pass out yall keep it greasy
>im in bed now but i will try to remember to post the link later, its an indian chef that sucks at making written recipes but knows his shit so i watched the vid like 40 times and tried to mimic him
nice one lad. looked tasty as fuck, just mixed around compared to recipes i've tried so i fancied a gander t b h
Taking a quick break to let stuff cool before proceeding to next step on this idea I had. Hope it ends up ok. Didn't actually prep one onion and one potato.
Boil that head of cabbage like Martha Stewart mom showed me!
Prepped the veg and began to peel the cabbage. New paring knife was awesome. Carrots were like cold butter. Not even.
Threw the veg in with the cabbage because it seemed an efficient use of space and heat and time.
More layers than an onion! (In hindsight I should have just quickly stir fried my onions instead of boil. Oh well) Cut up half a stick of butter into nice little dealios.
And here we are now. Time to pan fry the carrots and potato pieces to get some flavor and texture. The carrots should have come out of the water like 3-5 minutes prior though. We live and learn!
Pan is heating and mixed up the sauce real quick as well as shaved the stems on the cabbage.
You're my favorite person on this board. Just thought I'd drop by and let you know.
Here's a cat pic for your troubles
read this thread and just want to clear up: progun was just kidding around that night, and that shit was photoshopped. I don't know why people had to be such dicks about it, it wasn't even funny and dude still doesn't like to come back here
it's not negative, he can eat whatever he wants for all I care, doesn't change the fact that fish isn't vegetarian. some posters asked how the dish wasn't vegetarian and I answered, sorry if that triggered the fuck out of you homie
Yeah I should have toned it down. Was afraid of not enough flavor merging and fatty good stuff. Will not be using butter inside next time. Also not as much as it looks. Pretty small pieces. Like 1/32 of a stick or less.
Bear with my poor wrappings. Never done this before at all.
These were the three best looking ones.
Tasted pretty awesome but definitely a little too much butter. I think it will be perfect if I just exclude it from the inside next time. I am sure meat eaters could add corned beef and make it even more steller for yourselves.
Sceak most definitely did not contribute at all. He was a mentally unstable drug addicted homosexual who used /ck/ to blog about his boyfriend problems, post pictures of himself wearing makeup, and act like he was going to commit suicide. I doubt he's still alive.
>Sceak most definitely did not contribute at all.
Sure he did, he "contributed" in the same way that Progun did, posting his horrid bachelor chow. It was different horrid bachelor chow, and instead of causing a shitstorm with his gun mental illness, he caused a shitstorm with his gay meth prostitute mental illness, it's just that shitty fast food with guns appeals more to the demographic here than shitty lentils with saggy nipples.
so I've never made tacos before. pls help what oil should I use I'm doing ground beef tacos.
also my taco seasoning is
>garlic and onion in with the meat
any tips am I missing something? I got white corn tortillas
>best song on best cooking album
I padded the grease off after the pic. Good to know i should drain it in the future
so the meat was exactly what I wanted so I'll remember that. the first tortilla was way under done and the second was pretty good so I'll play around with frying them longer or broiling them or whatever.
I bought a 30 pack for $2 so this'll be fun
Thread needs some dog to even it out.
Here is my dog.
cooking curry in a dutch oven
yes i'm using jar curry paste, call the cops
onions and garlic in and nearly ready, i'd usually have some chillis in there too but forgot to get some so i've settled for some cayenne powder ;_;
onions nice n soft, in goes the beef
yeah, stores where i am don't really stock anything better :(
few forkfulls of paste mixed with some water looks good enough to drink
its come to boil now on goes the lid and into the oven it goes for around 2.5 hrs @ 170c then ill add some potatoes
Yo OP, do you bake?
I know that you have a pretty shit workspace, and so do I
in a fucking dorm, no less
.
Do you know if there are any way to make impromtu worktables, good enough to make bread?
One of the Chef John videos featured him using clear wrap over a table to flour his dough in, but I am not sure if it is good enough.
would dip in spicy banana sauce if drunk
heres the "recipe", if you get it right its darn good, ill be rewriting it with measurements next time i make it
looks dank bro, i want to leave butter and add crabmeat oh god
fucking blushing m8, cute kitty
it tasted good but started to give me a headache
would eat right now, reminds me of taco night
need to see the results of this
i dont know anything about korean food but i would be interested in your favorite dish that involves meat i need meat
i baked some cookies from scratch at christmas thats my first thing to bake from scratch and i want to do more, i have yeast packets I want to try some baguettes or something and i want to bake something for a thing at work in a few weeks, need an idea for something like cookies or individual things to give to some people
AUTISM POST OVER
>might cook something simple in a while not sure
High fives and you were good to add the cumin. It's what makes tacos really be tacos.
When working with dough I have always just put flour on my work surface to keep from sticking. Any had surface works really. It would need to be pretty effed to not be functional or need plastic. I see that just interfering more.
It is not that I don't have hard surface, it is fucking disgusting, that's why. I'm living in a college dorm, the shittest, dirtiest fucking place mcdonalds grease forming a layer of fat over the table.
I dare not lay my dough over it.
Beer bread is the way. Go watch Chef John and you'd be amazed how fucking fast it is.
But still, how do you even manage work space with the massive amount of cooking you do?
this is the most counter space ive had since ive lived on my own
pic is my old apt which had considerably less space, ill take a pic of current kitchen after i clean up
in go a couple of potatoes and back into the oven for another hour or so @ 160
Making some Cajun chicken alfredo pasta thing.
Drinking Maker's 46 during.
Here are the ingredients, prepped.( Excluding tomatoes and ACV and toaster in back)
Done, shouldn't take too long to cook/blacken.
Turn head down a bit.
Sauté onions and peppers for about 5 mins. Add shrooms, plus just a dash of Worchestshire sauce. Garlic last.
money shot, the cow is pretty pissed about being in the oven for so long its trying to break itself up, oh well
Add chicken and veggies back to pan, along with sauce and the mixed spices. Heating...
Done. Sauce came out ugly, but tastes yum.
Plus roasted asparagus on the side because I need more veggies in my diet
Here they are m8s, first try at them. Went a bit overboard, used two big chicken breasts, they were delicious.
Used some garlic aioli I had in the back of the fridge.
How'd I do m8s?
Yeah, pretty easy. I've mastered chicken parm and these are just smaller without sauce/cheese. Here's some chicken parms I made a while ago.
I raise one breakfast of champions! A little sloppy this morning but still gonna taste bomb.
ive learned that grating a block of mozzarella and putting the sauce on top on the cheese makes for a juicier chicken and a tastier cheese. try it. wish i could post mine, it comes out great.
Mmm, mmm, mmm, thanks for reminding me about a marinade I once made.
Chicken with a blonde, hearty beer (Delirium Tremens) and honey, some thyme, some garlic, marinated for about 4 hours. Was delicious. Make sure you to let the chicken 'dry out' for 10 mins or so before you fry it
I'm from Australia, I haven't found anywhere that sells those big hard blocks of cheese like pic related you can grate, it's all just processed blocks of chedder cheese and shit
Going to make steak, mashed taters, garlic carrot sticks, fried mushroom and onions and gravy.
I am letting the steak get to room temperature before cooking because it is supposed to cook better?
so many people keep posting actual cooking in this thread. sooner or later it's like were going to need a cooking board or some shit
DO YOU FUCKING HEAR ME HIRO FUCKING FUCK THESE FAST FOOD FAGGOTS
Nah it doesn't matter. What's more important is getting the salt to hangout on the meat, even in fridge uncovered, for as long as you can up to like 2 days.
Also, I'm making ribeye and broccoli tonight! Sous vide because it's my favorite. Pics of the finished product later
Next time I feel like having steak I'll do that. I just seasoned it with salt and pepper before throwing it in.
Flipped the steak after three minutes. Then I added butter.
I added some of the juices from the steak to cook the onions and mushroom.
For the carrots I boiled them for a bit then drained the water and added butter and garlic salt. It was still a bit crunchy though.
For the mashed potatoes I added salt, coconut milk, butter, sour cream and garlic salt. It turned out nice and creamy.
I devoured it all.
Cast iron is extremely inexpensive if you buy a plain Lodge pan.
Here's my steak. Seared it on my cast iron using my auxiliary burner on my grill outside. No inside smoke, max temp.
That shit's fuckin raw. If you sear at that high heat you'll burn it before cooking any reasonable amount. If you do this again, sear the steak then throw it in the oven for a few minutes.
Don't lie to me and say you wanted a raw steak.
It's snowing and won't stop til Tuesday. Gonna make me some broccoli cheddar soup to warm me up. With bacon, because we don't care bout fat. Moderation folks.
Cook 3 slices back on, chopped until fat rendered and crispy.
He knows he'll inevitably get a couple of little pieces as a treat.
Sauté onions for about 3-5 mins, then add diced carrots (if you julienne there's no need) and cook another 3.
Add another tbsp or two of butter. Add 3 tbsp flour, cook 5 mins.
Looks gross now. But it'll be good.
Add 3-4 cups of chicken broth and 3 cups broccoli florets. Cover and simmer, stirring for about 30 mins
Add 1 cup heavy cream and 1 cup milk (2 cups half and half) and the puree and simmer 10 more mins.
Add cheese in clumps, letting it melt, about 2 1/2 cups cheddar
The above picture is after I added the cheese. I like extra sharp cheddar. I also added pepper (there's enough salt in the chicken broth) a dash of garlic powder, and a dash of nutmeg.
Don't have a bread bowl, but I do have this sourdough loaf.
its sunday and I am making meatballs
>tfw youre halving a recipe and it says 5 eggs
>garlic, s&p, oregano, parsley, basil
>mix and make balls
I've never made meatballs before
I do not trust anyone that is capable of keeping them round. they also cooked way quicker than I expected
drain the sausage on some paper towels too. put some onions, garlic, and tomato paste into that sausage n meatball grease. also get some crushed tomatoes, sugar, water, and the same spices as from the meatballs up to a boil in the back. add the onions and stuff to the pot when boiling and hard boil one hour
reduce to a simmer and add the sausage and meatballs back in. simmer for like 2 hours. this is where I'm at now. only thing left is to add a little pecorino romano cheese with about 20 minutes to go
its the only cast iron I have and I'm in college so not buying a bigger one. this is my biggest pot too
Thanks for the OC. Was bored as shit and waiting for someone to post here. Looks good but ya gotta work on keeping those meatballs round! Remember that you don't need to fully cook them if you are going to simmer in the sauce. Just brown them real nice for flavors. Much easier to keep round that way.
Got shit for ingredients today and not sure what/if I should cook. You have pushed me one step closer to motivation though!
yeah I should have been watching the meatballs closely but I was off chopping the onions and garlic and measuring the spices for the sauce and by the time I looked it was too late. oh well first time making them live and learn. theyre definitely not cooked in the middle though
and I just saw the can of crushed tomatoes in the pantry. when I checked the recycling I realized I used diced tomatoes in juice instead so its super watery. this will be interesting
nhl all star game just ended so that means add the cheese. the sauce actually thickened even though I used diced tomatoes for half so thats cool
gonna make meatball hoagies for me n roomie later. I planned on doing pasta but I dont feel like it plus I bought hot dog buns since I have a bunch of sweet italian sausages to make now
decided to try to make chicken fried steak for the first time because chicken is crazy expensive here and this steak was cheapish
never liked steak growing up so i'm taking baby steps now to introduce it into my diet
here I'm tenderizing with an ice cream scooper because I'm trash
not using a recipe, just figured chicken fried steak should be like frying chicken, otherwise they named it poorly
again I'm trash so my bread crumbs are going to be leftover crutons. flavor should be nice at least.
and they taste fucking good. never had chicken fried steak I'm interested
here's the leftovers. 9 meatballs for whatever later and some chunky sauce for whatever later. pretty minimal work just a lot of time you guys should try it
probably too much oil and temperature started off too low
meanwhile honey, a ton of balsamic, dijon, and a little olive oil
greens, the last of the croutons that I didn't sacrifice to the steak, and some pickled red onions I made last week
letting it chill/cool for a bit while I plate this other shit up. don't want it wilting the greens/being dry/etc.
done. tastes awesome, actually. the breading stayed on well enough and is crisp. no red in the meat, but I think that's what it's supposed to be for chicken fried steak? good eats for <20 min. after the gym.
Chicken fried steak is delicious, a great way to prepare a cheaper tougher cut of beef. I've never seen it on salad but that might be good, its traditionally served covered in sawmill gravy. Also that anon is correct, it should be cooked well done with no pink in it.
messed around with horseradish, 'cha and pickled habenaros, I expected to not like it but it was surprisingly decent, finished the can
Sorry for giant pictures, posting on mobile
Had some chile verde in the fridge, threw it into the slow cooker
Topped off, covered, set to low, should be good when I get home from day life
I should have taken pics as I went but if anyone wants the basic process I'll just type it out. First attempt at asparagus soup and it came out flipping awesome.
They're specifically built to not
Chicken after being on low all day
May as well post here too. Seaman's with langoustine, prawns, brown shrimp, basmati rice, turned beetroot, chiffonade of red cabbage and mushroom, white wine and cream sauce. The beetroot was an experiment gone wrong, but the rest was nice.
yeah haha looks like cat food but so good
with some rice, beans (soaked black + chicken stock + seasoning + immersion blender), and baked tortilla
so good for so little effort; first time doing this and will definitely have to do it again. AND I DON'T EVEN HAVE TO CLEAN UP BECAUSE IT'S ALREADY IN A BAG!
> waiting for the OP.
It's basically OC general now. Or Cooking with Cats general. Whatever. Just need OC to start it so it's not like those retarded threads that get started before there is even anything being contributed. Whoever does next OC can make it. But yeah judging by the timing...OP will probably do it
