this thread is for anyone to post a cook-along or OC food/drink pics if they dont want to make or use another thread
>you may even learn something!
that anon better be telling me how he knew I'm in philly
fuckin tell me about it. look at this I have half a drawer
not talking smack, that is an odd kitchen, like it has pretty nice appliances but it looks like it was put together odd, its spacious tho i would try to put some kind of island in the middle, like a table even jealous of thepotential tho i just have a standard small apt kitchen
that or cheap carpet above the concrete. please stick to food this is OPs thread
$815 a month with the college kid discount
thanks m8. I've posted it plenty of times before and I've done my fair share of doxxing. /ck/ is chill enough I dont worry
to keep it food related I'm making these tomorrow any suggestions what do? this'll be my last post tonight
Can you grill outside? My favorite way to cook wings is by grilling them and basting with melted butter and garlic, then tossing them in a sauce when they are done. It's so much better than fried.
the co-op program. most of the school does it. go to school for 5 years and only get one summer break. spend 6 months in class and 6 months on an internship every year. get mad work experience and these companies suck your dick to get you to come back. I made $60k before taxes
TALK ABOUT FOOD
i'm going to bed sorry OP
sounds extremely similar to my engineering program
fucking finally. everyone who knows about our co-op program says oh yeah drexel does it just like northeastern I love hiring drexel grads. youre the first person I've talked to from northeastern and apparently nobody says that about us to you.
ok cats in bed with me and she's purring I really cant keep typing or she'll bitch. goodnight and good luck
aw shit prepin like a mofo
im givin another shot at the homemade jalapeno poppers btw, needs to perfect these to impress people with boobs someday
now the filling will be cream cheese, but i am concerned there is not enough peppers in these stuffed peppers so imma stuff peppers into these peppers homie
>my home pickled ghost pepper mixture its not some bullshit its spicy
put a layer of that pimpcheese then a shrimp, take the poop strings out of the shramps or you nasty son ya heard
im puttin another thin layer of cheese on top cuz science aint easy
late night bro you aint lying, i been nibblin on leftovers for like 4 hours cuz permabulk
dunk in milk, coat in flour, let sit like 10 minutes
then imma dunk in milk and roll in bread crumbs let sit then repeat
obtain one whole chicken and consume a shot.. lets do this.
grab your stock pot that you formerly passed out while boiling salt water. it should impart a nice char flavour to the chickens
Double fry if you like it crispy:
20min @ 250
Rest for 1hr in fridge
10min @ 375-400
I did the first fry yesterday. Just waiting for the Panthers game today to do the final fry, then consume.
I've had grilled and baked wings, but nothing is ever quite as good as the fryer
add some seasonings and herb and top off with a bit of water cause your dumb ass doesnt have enough stock
get a nice simmer rolling and enjoy some leftovers from the last shitty cook along you did while you wait
strain the flavourless veggies and consume more hooch
skip a bunch of steps cause mildly lost interest in my own cook along. throw stock, shredded chicken and veggies togthere and start to simmer
Looks yummy as fuck. Have you tried any methods to clean up your stock from excessive herb or rendered fat for the final product? I've been trying a few things which include straining the stock through a cheese cloth for the smaller particulates, and making a consommé to clarify the color and remove fat. Usually I'd eat it as is, but I've begun to jar and save my stocks for later and I'm trying to keep them as clean as possible.
For lunch I just took this recipe:
and more or less ignored it beyond the rice sticks, and the soy sauce/sesame oil/chili garlic sauce mix.
I was feeling cheap and lazy so I found a Kroger "Private Selection" brand premade asian salad that had most of the veggies. I tossed in some of the garlic I had, mixed it all up in my wok, and it turned out pretty fucking good. It was also really fucking cheap for a lunch given the salad was maybe $2-3 and the rice stick only $1.99. Also the salad dressing that came w/ the premade asian salad (soy ginger or something) mixed pretty well later on for my second bowl.
Gonna look into more stuff I can make w/ rice sticks shit's pretty fucking tasty.
attempting to make this stupid custard a la chef john
starting with sugar for dry caramel. wish I had something nicer than this shit pot to make it in.
meanwhile separating yolks. most of them broke. tried using the water bottle method but that shit was not going smoothly so switched back to finger fondling
poured in heavy cream once it darkened up. did not heat it up first because my lord and savior John said I didn't have to, so now I get to mix this hard nest of sugar
looks ready to add salt and vanilla extract. calls for 2 tsp but I only have one so now I get to ruin this custard nice and early.
drant a 1 pint bottle of 20 ton ale, then i poured the remainder of a 5th of bacardi run into a glass of a&w root beer. I've got a pork roast in the oven. I brined it in a mixture of water, salt, brown sugar, powdered garlic, powdered ginger, curry powder, and cumin. Then i rubbed the same spices on it, plus some garam marsala and some fresh crached black pepper. i have no idea if this will work.
added a cup into the bowl with the yolks, mixing slowly so I don't scramble em, then poured the mixture back into the main pot, because it's all about minimizing the amount of dishes I have to do
4 ounce ramekins in water baths. fucked this shit up though because my cheap ass oven has weird curved racks that don't slide out so I basically had to roll the pan down a grated hill to get it in the oven. destroyed any chance at a nice presentation!
got like half an hour to kill now. here's a pic of lunch. short ribs and polenta fries.
don't have plastic wrap for the custards to chill in so I don't know what I'm going to do. really don't want to go outside. looks mad cold.
sounds good, greenwich could always use more people
took the custards out. one of the tops got fucked but the other three look alright. two in the other dish still have to cook a bit more, center jiggling in its own way.
ah man I was craving some soup earlier too, ended up grabbing some artichoke pizza because same difference
all dem done and cleaned because the sides were dirty and triggering me
neighbor bro came through with the plastic wrap, so now the waiting game
makin the wings
marinate them forever since the football was good and you didnt wanna cook
I got hot water back today btw
half got left and half got right. this trader joe's soyaki shit is my favorite thing to do lazy chicken with. its basically soy sauce, sugar, garlic, sesame, and onions
went to an aldi and these are good n meaty. theyre just delicious dont question it
now that you've cleaned the dishes and posted on 4chinz its time to flip them and throw on some more sauce
almost like a tenderloin....but in this case actualy flavourful
think about it tho....so little meat and only two a chicken, itd hake a handfull of chickens to make a decent plate of wings, explains the expense just a bit
eat. the soyaki ones come out so well since its a real marinade and it caramelizes so quickly on the outside. I dont know how to do a good buffalo wing without breading but I just simply cant make wings and not do some buffalo. it just ends up tasting like chicken that has sauce on it but its good enough
pretty great weekend food. got some cheap bleu cheese for it
damn. used to have those same Corelli dishes.
fryin' some chicken senpai
For you and everyone else that doesn't have an actual deep fryer, what do you do with the oil after your first fry? I own and fryer and just keep the oil in there until the next time I fry something (like a week).
Not who you're replying to, but you can let it cool and return it back to the bottle using a funnel and filter. That's what I used to do.
Now I have a pot for deep frying and nothing else. So, like you, it's no big deal.
I pulled it out and it was only about 145 inside so I put it back in for 90 seconds and it was already up to 165. maybe my thermometer isn't good.
threw them on buns and fried a couple potatoes. was good.
some very tasty lookin cookery going on in this thread looks good guys
ate those poppers lastnight and layed down with kittys and fell asleep, woke up and ate a bunch of leftover ribs cold
>the insides were no cooked to my liking i still have experimenting to do
met my mommy today and had a chicken fried steak
>my good boy points game is outta control son
i would like for the pepper to get cooked before the outside is done, the jalapeno was about raw still, probably need to turn my oil heat down a lot, a thermometer may help lol
heres one i tried with spicy banana sauce, surprisingly edible
fry deez buns in leftover egg butter
>do NOT photograph the egg, this kills the egg
yes there is a few specs of pink dont worry what bacteria the whisky doesnt kill, johnny cash will
People have tolerances, it might seem like a lot to you, but it isnt.
Drinking lots of water also helps.
You should go read some of the posts in the Alcoholic Generals here on /ck/ for some perspective.
I dont really get hangovers unless i really over do it which i try to avoid, i dont drink as constantly as you may think, also like other anon said drink a lot of water or gatorade and cruise through an /alk/ thread, some of those guys make me look like a light weight
Here's what I ate today atfisney world in Orlando. I had the tikka masala pictured further and my girlfriend had the teriyaki skewers over brown rice. Was delicious but overpriced as fuck, as is the Disney motto.
maybe wednesday since I dont have class til 7. I'm not gonna clean up after my roommates every day.
its almost 11 and I've just been having beer for dinner. might have a hot dog later
bro that tikka masala looks fucking dank
>pic realted what i usually eat :(
I usually just make my own, its pretty easy.
Buy premade tikka masala paste.
Fry an onion until translucent, add garlic until fragrant. Add a can of crushed tomatoes and bring to a simmer. Add some frozen peas and carrots and however much curry paste you desire. Meanwhile pull the chicken breast/thighs you had marinating out of the fridge. They were marinating in more of the curry paste and plain yogurt. Fry those up until browned and add them to everything else. Simmer 10-15 minutes until chicken is tender.
I like to add sambal oelek for heat and some more yogurt for creaminess.
Serve over rice.
Wa la, a whole meal that reheats very nicely.
eh, it was the oil the sardines were packed in.
There were a couple of small chilis in the bottom of the tin, not particularly spicy though.
you can see the red in the background slice.
got rekt at work today so im just heationg up some of this chicken spagetti stuff, might cook something later not sure
that looks pretty good
OC Breakfast to contribute tot he awesome thread!
Starting up some simple lunch and figured I would post.
Asparagus has a bit of water in there with lemon and lime juice. Also salt and pepper. Cauliflower is brushed with sunflower oil, salt, pepper, cumin, and the tiniest bit of crushed red pepper. (Both sides) Also a smidgeon of water. Just put it in the oven (covered) and will wait for it to be about halfway done before putting the asparagus in the oven also. Once the asparagus goes in I will begin steaming the carrots.
Cauliflower is out and asparagus is in! Timing is a bit off but one more step for the cauliflower anyway. Time to steam!
"Steam" is really what I meant. Goodbye seasoning!
I like how your stovetop is dirty but not excessively so. This is the stove of a man who isn't obsessed with cleanliness, though knows the limits of social mores.
Carrots steamed too long and got mushy when I stir fried to brown them. Tasted good minus the texture. Asparagus got a little too mushy in oven also. Too much water and too long. Cauliflower is perfect and AWESOME flavor.
for the anon who posted the stuffed chicken breast the other day: thanks, I tried making it, and I guess it came out nice.
(sorry for the shitty plating, that was before serving it up)
I used chicken livers, two small tomatos, some chopped sage, flour with some salt and pepper mixed in, said salt and pepper, olive oil and balsamic vinegar
I am now also from Australia. Chopped the onions and cubed the tomatoes.
first time actually, but the recipe was clear enough, so I didn't fuck up too much.
also, I added pine nuts to the spinach, 'cause they're a favourite of mine. wasn't a mistake, the final product tasted nice.
I give up, it does not want to upload anything the right way up. So, I floured the chicken livers.
Heated up some olive oil and sweated the onions, then lowered the heat until they started smelling sweet.
By now the onion was quite soft and translucent. Added some balsamic, the tomatoes and sage and a pinch of sugar and cooked them together for a while.
Took the onion mixture out ofthe pan, heated up some more olive oil and put my chicken livers in. Browned them on both sides and cooked them to medium doneness. Overcooked chicken liver is the worst.
I know, it takes practice but all the throwing up helps me stay thin.
So this is the onions and livers cooked, I then put some thick slices of bread under the grill and completely forgot about them until they were burned. I ran out of the bread I baked last weekend so it was just store bought bread
And this is the end result. Basically grilled bread, a layer of the onion mixture and the livers. It was quite. Sorry for the awful upside and sideway pictures.
I also have some millionaire's shortbread cooling but have no pictures of the process.
I always add pine nuts (and raisins) to my spinach, I always order this dish at my favourite restaurant, and I think they taste amazing, try it out sometime.
also, thanks OP for these threads, they're a happy and peaceful island on this board.
use proper cookware and cook at lower temps, for fucks sake that stove is disgusting. i hope you live by yourself because i wouldnt wish your filthy assburger self on my worst enemy.
alternative: kill yourself
Buy some Saffron, you'll never feel like spices are too expensive ever again. I spent $18 on 1.7oz of the stuff and still feel the pain. It gets some good use and you don't need much, but it's not the most expensive seasoning in the world for nothing.
yeah, didn't think about it, but you're right.
I only happen to live in a country where, most of the times, food is regarded as way too important to be really unaffordable. and stuff like good vegetables and nuts are too much of a staple for their price to reach the "unaffordable point", ever.
Add broth. Once the broth is mostly evaporated, wa la, Brussels sprouts. I overlooked them a little bit since my dumb ass didn't realize BABY sprouts need less cooking time. Still breddy gud.
Pour it through a china cap and wire strainer under that.
Let sit for 12hrs or 24 if you want and skim the fat and other undesirables off the top, the stuff that settles on the bottom isn't going anywhere though.
I'm just doing burgers again. gotta make 2 for myself since my roommate had practice tonight and the meats gonna go bad. doing a normal one now and will try something stupid after
fuck you I have 3 roommates and theyre the messy ones but I dont mind. I clean once a weak they clean once a never
cool roomie came home and wanted part of a burger and had pizza so he gave me a slice for half my normal burger.
the bbq was too sweet but we're bros and the penguins won tonight so its cool
alright you scalliwags im gonna get dickered and cook some shit, nothing too special, been marinating these chickens while i was at work
>be back in like 3 beers or so gonna clean cuz i need a semi clean kitchen to feel professional
>its almost like we are on a food and cooking board here lol
What have you done!
alright mix it up and give it a try
>needs more lawrys
Yes it is for nothing, it literally has little to no taste; it even smells like shit usually. Saffron is one of the most pretentious things on the planet and people rarely buy it a 2nd time because they find out how fucking nasty it is.
The only reason it's expensive is because it's really hard to cultivate.
thinning some ranch down with some buttermilk, Im making mini buffalo chicken sandwiches
If you from houston you may know of a place called the 59 diner, its a 50s style diner, I was a waiter there for like 5 years a long time ago when it was still good, loved that place not gonna lie, they got a buffalo chicken sandwich it was my fav thing on the menu, im makin it as good as i can, maybe better, probably not, their house made ranch is the shit and its thin so thats what im doin
>if it werent for that job id probably be a wizard it took got me out of my shell i recomend waiting tables at one point in your life
alright sides are very frivolous so im just cut these midget taters up and stick em in the oven in a bit
by the way i was inspired to do this by the anon ITT who made the 2 chicken sandwiches, plus i needed to use up these ingredients
gosh dang my knife skills are shit, trying to make thin cut onion rings, itll do pig, itll do...
cut bread with your T.V.Knife your friend sold you like 10 years ago, shit could still cut through a brick
>this album jams, used to bump this all the time in like 2003
why im not a huge fan of highlife, its all head
>still buys highlife
holy shit anon lol
alright drizzled some buttermilk in the flour mix to acheive optimum clumpage, still trying to get the oil to my desired temp fuck electric stoves and the horse they rode in on
Moved to a new place back in August that has a gas stove. Its so nice to be able to turn down the heat on command. None of this massive latent heat and pulsing heating shit.
>tfw moving back in with my highschool roomates at the end of the month, no more gas
I'll take homosex knives on top of a glass panel that lays on flannel sheets for 1,000 Alex.
Glad for this post. Gonna do some fried zucchini day after tomorrow and have not really ever done so before. Any other tips for battering and frying? I'm going to be using powdered crackers instead of flour because I don't own flour. In case that makes a difference.
you got some perty knives boy, but yeah i wish apts with gas were a thing around here, at least for the lower class such as myself
dude im still learning myself as far as breading type batter is concerned, i can beer batter and pancake batter certain things but different things call for diff methods, id google a bunch of eggplant recipes to get the overall feel for it desu
>dinner time for critters too
battered and fried the onion rings same way as chicken forgot pic
no theyre all parking lot hobo cats, i feed them when i can and provide a small shelter to help them fight the cold and rain, i have 2 indoor cats which are both rescued from parking lots and im at max capacity for an apt. there is a good chance the small one will just dissapear eventually such is life if anyone in the houston area wants to do something about it let me know, the calico is friendly but timid
lightly tossed in buffalo sauce, buns buttered and toasted, fried onions on top then drizzled with ranch, shit was fire, im 25 minutes into world war z and this shit is intense ill be back later maybe
Unfortunately I live a couple thousand miles away from Houston. I tried to tame a hobo cat when I was a kid and she still comes to my parents' house to get food. She's too afraid to get inside for more than a few seconds though.
ya not much you can do for some of them
naw its a TV Knife, its basically a pyramid scheme where people talk you into buying 10 and selling them and also try to get other people to sell them, its not a bad knife tho for like $10
ya, if you went to the willowbrook location theres a good chance i waited on you and made you a shake at one point
just realized i already have a cheap one, will break it out next time
canola, i am too poorfag for peanut
im glad to hear that, hobbies are really good at lifting your mood, might sound dumb but riding a bicycle is a great way to improve mental health, its not only about exercise, it can make you feel really good just putting that out there
Bought a 3 inch, 2.5 pound prime ribeye for $40 for a cheese plate I was planning for my girlfriend.
I overcooked the steak and cut my hand with a bread knife.
We had to cut dinner short to take me to the hospital.
yes show scar. also my uncle fucking loves eating big ass things of roasted garlic like that but I've never tried
fuck off fag. youre clearly retarded and arent able to tell who this poster is. retarded people like you are why tripfags feel the need to tripfag when anyone smart can tell who they are.
yeah just rub some dirt on it. I sliced my pinkie to the bone with a bagel knife before. havent used one since fuck them
Nice. I used to live in montrose houston in one of the old small apartments. There was this old hermit lady who lived there who fed all the cats in the dead middle of the night. I think I'm the only person who ever even saw her, I had to start my shift at 3 a.m. and that's the only time I would ever see her out there. You could tell she wanted to be left alone but I thanked her for taking care of all those cats.
everyone seems to be getting pretty mad at me, but, just to conclude my story, I'm all patched up now and don't think I can go to work tomorrow /: Pretty big slap in the face after such an expensive dinner to not be able to work.
To the anon who asked about the disks on top of the steak: that's a compound butter made from caramelized onions, parsley, and garlic. I rolled it up in parchment paper and froze it.
If anyone else has any questions about the food I made I'd be happy to answer!
Naw around houston theres a taco truck on every corner, I love trying new ones constantly, a lot are meh but sometimes I find really good ones. Also i work evenings and occasionally Ill work a night shift but really my sleep schedule is just retarded
pic is carnita tacos from a place i really like
Lunch from the pastor truck, the cucumber onion mix is spicy as heck
Sloshed and just made dinner....
Jesus motherfuking Christ I've never made something so delicious.
Grilled shrimp marinated in jasmine petal jam and white wine on a bed of maple balsamic quinoa with toasted almonds on top.
>inb4 shit presentation
I don't even care. Fuck real dishes
Legit I haven't ever created something so good from scratch in my life. I marinated the shrimp last night (while I was also drunk) and popped it in the broiler while the quinoa cooked.
so while my roommate was in the shower I played a prank on him and it pissed him off pretty bad. it ended with him throwing a glass at me and denting the fridge. I threw something and dented the wall but I tackled him.
so I'm making him dinner at midnight since it was fucking hilarious and we're still laughing about it.
s&p the chicken
did I mention I have tomorrow off so I'm drunk and forgot the picture
>I threw something and dented the wall
what on earth did you throw, buck shot gee golly anon
jk please continue sir
it was one of them double walled plastic cups. that shit shattered.
chickens almost done in the oven but here's while it marinated for short as shit. he's impatient.
so the prank was one night I I everything on the floor of our apartment and built a big ass pyramid on top of his bed reaching the ceiling, well it was the blizzard night and he spent the night on someone's couch so it did pay off for me. so I piled up a chair and leaned it against his bedroom door while he was in the shower and put everything I could on top of it. when he opened the door the chair fell on his foot and he was pissed as shit. the fun ensued.
its delicious. I put in too much ginger but its great.
my roommate the type of guy that thinks he hates anything but s&p so he doesnt know about the mustard, soy, or ginger but he loves that shit. fags gonna fag I guess
well i may just kill this thread with some OC since its close to bump limit, i want to do a cook along but i dont really want to have to start a new thread in the middle of it, any one else feel free to contribute but i have like 1000+ pics
doh thats another lobster roll lol
>here the pulled pork sammies
>surf and turf with a salmon pinwheel with crab stuffing, shramps and sides
