Muay Thai is easily the most effective granted you get a decent coach and you fight people who aren't keeping distance. If you've got someone standing in front of you and you're good at pulling people's heads down and elbowing/kneeing the shit out of them you'll do well unless you're fighting an inside boxer in which case you're getting punched right in the kidneys/solar plexis and going straight down.

She's a small woman who's had some modern day CQC training for modern day engagements. He's from a medieval society where fighting with and without melee weapons is the norm, and he has presumably been training his whole life.

In real life, a female soldier would most likely lose to an average civilian man.
