This is one of the reasons I think the author is probably familiar with the tropes of ancient heroes

Edil is a twink who has a bromantic relationship with Helck, just like Enkidu (once they taught him how to be human) was also a twink who had a bromantic relationship with Gilgamesh

And the trope of heroes having bromances is one that shows up frequently in other hero stories influenced by the Epic of Gilgamesh, like Achilles and his friend Patroclus (Patroclus, like Enkidu, also dies).

Edil isn't dead but I guess the role of "dead pretty male friend" would be taken by Cless.
