is it just me or was patreon the worst thing to ever happen to yaoi community? All these artists who formerly shared their finished commissions for free all flocked there and even through they have already received payment from the commissioner they extort more money out of their fans just to see the art. Some even pul that crap where you have to have a special code to even see the stuff at the 1st of 5th of the month. Bunch of greedy cunts and most of them are hack. That fucker iyumiblue still has the anatomy skills of a retard and now Dizdooz holds all his art hostage for extra cash. Fucking hate patreon. They even got Anma on there now.

Comissions were way more desirable than patreon world. Some of the former freebie artists actually got worse. Way fewer people see more then a teaser and its not at all healthy for the future of legal porn fan art when one of the biggest things was that the likeness of characters before weren't being sold for profit.

The other issue is its easier to find actual porn and its worse for the community. No one can realistically expect people to pay for all the many yaoi patreon artists now. There's a lot more competition, and a lot less comrade-re

Japanese artists sold their stuff too I guess so this isn't anything new. It's just that a lot of these artists used to post work for free and it sucks to have to choose when you can visibly see other better patreon artists and you are used to seeing the artists stuff for free.

I'm very much up in the air about Patreon and threads like these are the reason why.

Maybe the problem isn't the lack of quality art, it's the flood of shitty sites to host art that say, "fuck the need of artists, they must work around our setup."

Artists also have to market their work. Good luck balancing marketing across an asinine amount of sites AND also continue to produce quality.

What if there was a site that made it easy for artists to manage free/commission/monthlysub and their galleries along with helping with marketing? Well, I think you'd have a lot less 'hunting' for the good stuff because it would naturally gravitate towards a site that meets the majority of artists needs.

Re: your last point: You realize that if an artist who is doing nice yaoi art, gets a job doing something else, that yaoi art is going to suffer if not full stop, right? All art fields are labor intensive and unless they're a student with parents paying their debts they're not going to have the free time to make the same quality of art for free on the side of a job that they need to support themselves. On the other side:
Western 'artists' who take a popular character they don't care about BUT know people will want to pay to see their dick and balls. Then they add mosaic or a stupid bikini as only 'censor' (yeah, that means you're going to pay for something you can't see), create a thumb where you'll have NO idea it's a pay-per-view work and flood FREE ART gallery sites with that shit. Instead of comments, you get prices, and no need in fact to even post comments because they only answer people who PAY on Patreon.
