Look guys this is why GP books quality suck. They don't even check whether the print comes out correctly or not before mass print and sell them, and of course GP brainless fans goes "looks good" anyway.

From my experience following artist twitter/blog, they always approve their own print (since they know/envision what it looks like). If TogaQ not the one approving the print, GP is more fucked up than I thought they are.

Most likely because E-books are the main source of piracy, due to the ease of sharing. A lot of publishers publish the e-book version way after the initial publishing of the hard copy. It works like a movie to dvd.
Shipping is expensive because their HQ is most likely placed in HK, not only your book sails across the pacific ocean, hong kong is where everything is expensive as shit.

I don't know? Do we even know if Jo (TogaQ) is the one selling them in C88? She's not a one man band, maybe she's not there. Maybe the first time she saw the book in print form was through the photo, and that's why she reacted that way. Or maybe she did approve the print, but the printers were inconsistent (that's not an uncommon occurrence, btw)

But eh. I don't really care anymore. I was just surprised that a lot of assumptions were made about their operations from one shitty screencap, and that that anon and you are lumping fans into one single (brainless) entity.

GP ain't perfect and they do things that are questionable, but if all you do is just hate on them unreasonably, are you sure you should even be in this thread?

That's a hot picture, and if it weren't for the fact that I love Shino, I'd be all over it. There was a little spat in the FB group between a David and Shino fan and I would have added my two cents had I felt it was an appropriate place to chime in. I'm not sure why some of the David fans in that group think he's getting the short end of the stick and why GP feels the need to give us David stuff to "balance" out the Shino stuff when it's damn apparent to me that they give us more than enough David material. There's tons, I mean tons of lovey-dovey artwork between David and Katsu. They draw them all the time and if it's not a Katsu/David moment, then they're pimping Bad Company or some David/Katsu AU. They do a hell lot of David/Katsu writing, sneak peaks, and fan fiction type shit. And when Shino's birthday rolls around, they actually have to do a poll on whether we want a Shino/Katsu story or a sneak peak into Equilibrium (a David-centric story). Like really? It's Shino's birthday, why the fuck would we want anything about David/Katsu? And after a mostly lopsided vote for a Shino/Katsu story, they decide that they're not going to gift us this story; instead they're going to write a full dj and charge us for it even though it was supposed to be a gift to the fans. And no sex? Hell no, I've never been proud of pirating some of their stuff, but there's no fucking way I'm forking money over something that was supposed to be given to us in the first place. I'll wait for scans, or a summary or the next volume publication.

You have too many "maybe" when defending them and then you accused people of making assumption when you're doing the same.

Like I said artist always check their print art so that it exactly like what they envision it to be. It doesn't matter if she was the one selling or not. The fact that she wasn't the one approving the print says a lot about their operation. Also if the printers were inconsistent it the printer fault and they have the right to ask for reprint (FOC). If you ever send anything to be printed before you would know this. Heck if you ever received shitty printed book before you would know, just contact the publisher they'll ask you to return the book and give you new one (if they want to show the printer to get compensation) or let you keep the book and give you new one (if the print cost so low they don't give a damn).

Given their history of chapter releases, I figured most people posting here would be familiar with the snail pace that they operate on. To be honest, I'm shocked to learn that they've actually been working on chapter 14 at all and not a different macabre rapefest.

I think someone brought up their Libre serialization in group or on tumblr, but they answered that they couldn't reveal any of the details of their contract with Libre. I wanted to learn more about it with the small hope that their serialization would force them to be more consistent with their chapter releases. Unfortunately, it just feels like yaoi manga-kas - moreso than any other manga-ka from the bigger and more popular demographics - are more prone to delayed and sometimes sporadic appearances and releases. I've never encountered so many BL stories that were discontinued with no resolution or currently working manga-kas who abandon storylines halfway through **cough, cough Yoneda Kou**

In GP case it's the opposite, they boasted on their social account (not sure which one) that the writing part of ITW is done, it's only matter of turning it into manga. That was at least 2 years ago, but here we are barely at two chapter/year pace

An anon mentioned before that GP spreading ITW thin to milk the cow dry. Let just hope their fan interest on them doesn't dry first.

Eh, it's debatable (obviously). I'd much prefer some type of resolution or continuation of a work (even if it takes years) over a manga-ka that gets you invested in her story and then proceeds to work on something else without any word or clarification to fans about what happened to the previous one. At the very least, we deserve some type of final chapter or maybe a hand written message letting us know how the story would have ended up. People seem to forget this, since she's regularly producing chapters now, but Yoneda Kou took a huge break from Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai at one point. She just seemed very unprofessional in many aspects, which is why I don't bother getting excited over anything she writes.

I'm not excusing GP, of course, but given a choice between both of their methods, I'd take GP everyday and twice on Sundays (which isn't saying much).

Actually, no. It was meant to be one shot at first but the story took off and hence the serialization. In BL there are a lot of inter related oneshots, Abe Akane does this often. Yoneda Kou announce hiatus (a long one) during Ore ni Koi Shite Dousunda.

No, the break she took was after she had produced a couple of chapters and readers already knew it was being serialized (it was maybe a year if not more). I remember because I was in my Yoneda Kou phase. By the time she got back to regularly producing chapters for it, I had quit caring. Again, it makes no matter to me if a manga-ka takes a break just as long as a) readers are informed and most importantly, b) the manga-ka either returns to the work, or if they plan on dropping it, we are given a proper conclusion.

And I'm well aware that there are a number of BL manga-kas that often create a "world" where they have a set of interconnected characters and stories. Aya Sakyou, Tanaka Ogeretsu, and Shouko Kano are a couple of manga-kas who do this, I'm just not sure what this had to with my original post?

I noticed when I read WAYF (the forth non rapey work after NYM, FDNH and OOTN) they literally cannot write romance. Whenever they do it just really awkward, boring and forced. I think all of us here knows very well they can write rape but romance is just NOPE.

There's no sex in it. They stated that it wasn't rated 18, which means no explicit content. My advice is to just save your money and buy their volume/tank releases if you're keen on owning a copy. At 23 bucks (if you're in the US), it's a better deal than purchasing the chapters separately (~15 bucks with shipping) plus volume 2 included Wrapped Around Your Finger (another Katsu/Shino side story). I wouldn't be surprised if they included Little by Little in volume 3.

They WILL release everything in volume (since they like to double dip on everything I have absolute confident that they will), they even have plan on releasing novels in volumes which I find unnecessary because their novels are hardly related. Prequels are available, at least the David ones. The thing is that the digital versions are way too incomplete, none of the extras shown in the print version are in the kobo chapters without mentioning that there's a lot of sfx and words left untranslated... But well if you only want to read what's in the chapter and nothing else then it's not a bad option, I just wish they could update them a little bit more though.

Many people wonder why we need Shino even though there's David... uh well, if David was not better than Shino at all then nobody would bother reading the prequels, so obviously GP had to make him perfect all the way, and that's why I'm not so into him. I adore Shino better since he's cute and naive so Katsura wouldn't feel pressure being with him... About David I would like to see him with someone like Shibano even if it sounds a bit typical...

Only previews of that story have come out so far. It's supposed to be a sequel to Father Figure, and part 1 of the preview was at the end of Wrapped Around Your Finger, and part 2 of the preview was at the end of Ch10.

I tried googling around in the ridiculous hope that both parts had maybe been posted somewhere else on the internet, but sadly it has not. I did, however, find a German forum where someone posted a summary part 1 of the preview story! I don't speak German, so I had to run it through google translate, but it's surprisingly very understandable as far as google translate goes. It's too long for 1 post, so I'll have to break it up.

Or more precisely - they only have a month to close the case and to return to Japan because Shinohara and Shibata will come. This is the first thread where people haven't really reposted all the dl links. We did that before...and a lot of them of them got taken down after not so long, so people had to constantly re-upload. BTW what the heck is Jo work other than ITW anyway? Why do they GP a dozen artist when Jo pretty much illustrate a couple of pages for novel and ITW. They started working on ITW 14 like 4-5 months ago and yet they still at draft stage.

If she's involves with behind the scene clerical stuff should they just hired a clerk instead rather than new artist to replace Jo. Look at the cover of PNG it just a fucking dagger on roughly drawn and colored soil. Seriously look at it we can even see the scribbles. GP has turned into Kichiku and untalented bitches, not like is has a lot of talent herself.

BTW what the heck is Jo work other than ITW anyway? Why does GP need a dozen artist when Jo pretty much only illustrate a couple of pages for novel and ITW. They started working on ITW 14 like 4-5 months ago and yet they still at draft stage.

If she's involves with behind the scene clerical stuff should they just hired a clerk instead rather than new artist to replace Jo. Look at the cover of PNG it just a fucking dagger on roughly drawn and poorly colored soil. Seriously look at it, we can even see the scribbles. GP has turned into Kichiku and untalented bitches, not like she has a lot of talent herself.

I got the feeling they purposely delay ITW, because that's the only title people actually care about and stick with them. It has been 5-6 years and it only at chap 13 and whole of of other forgetful titles.

I’ve read only parts from it, since I’m not on Patreon, but honestly I don’t like the story so far – Katsuya wants to participate in some BDSM games with M, because... why not? And David isn’t okay with that at first, but in the end he gives up and also takes part in their sexual games...

Basically Katsuya wants to cheat with M, while David was only good to him (I’m pretty sure that Kichiku would say that Katsuya just wants to find himself or to cure himself from old trauma through sex). The whole behavior of Katsuya and David is weird in this story... David even says to Katsuya:
“You can be insecure, selfish and high maintenance,” he said and refilled it from the coffee pot. He then placed it back down in front of Katsuya, and stole another kiss from his downturned mouth. “Spoiled and unreasonably demanding.”
“Can you be more specific?”
David laughed, tousling Katsuya’s already ruffled hair. “But I wouldn’t want you any other way.”
“You are quite a masochist,” Katsuya smiled.
“Only to the right sadist.”

I’m not sure how Katsuya deserved such loyalty and devotion by being a bitch, but okay... when the whole novel is released I’ll find out eventually.

I'm not so much a big fan of Katsuya either but it's probably because I'm not such a huge fan of cold fish/sadist type characters. At least he's that way with Shinohara anyway. His interactions with David seem warmer than the ones with Shinohara which is why I'm a little resentful. This is not why I dislike Katsuya, I don't mind either way also. I just the generic bitch attitute friendzone someone but flirt tirelessly basically a misleading (people don't flirt or mislead sex friend, sex friend just for sex hence the name). Also he acts like everyone is beneth him. Basically his attitute give me hives, I like him better when he was tied on on the chair and get raped.

Oh man GP... I used to be such a fan of ITW and I can't believe it's still ongoing. I used to buy all the books as soon as they went up for sale, and followed all the blogs to make sure I'd get them asap. I'm still a huge Jo Chen fan and think her work on this is beautiful and the guys are super hot but holy shit I am super fucking bored of these convoluted stories and all this rape and abuse. I figured by now they would have wrapped up ITW and started something new with a new flavor, but it seems like all they want to do is drag out ITW as long as possible while making spin offs and prequels full of shitty yaoi tropes with no substance. I don't mind rape/dubcon in a story but I like to see characters work through that in some way, but it seems like they are just going in circles and reveling in the abuse without seeing the characters progress from it like people. The writing is so shitty. This love triangle shit is so stupid. I wish Jo would drop the writer, but then she might go back to making exclusively Buffy comics or something and we'd lose all this pretty art. It's so depressing to see someone with so much talent and potential hooked up with someone so mediocre.

I agree about the lack of emotion, but her anatomy and rendering is solid, and she's very good at drawing beautiful men which are also masculine, which isn't particularly common; I feel as if she might have improved more on the emotional aspect if she had worked on more things other than this writer's stuff, or if this writer bothered to write more varied stories and not just rape etc.

It'd be nice if they'd try to branch out and write something different, but I get the feeling that they enjoy writing in their own niche, which is probably why Jo went on the independent route instead of following up with the American comic route. It feels as if they've been working on Equilibrium for ages and I want to go back to Shino instead of dwelling on David. I enjoy looking at David, but if they're not together anymore then it's pretty pointless reading about it, IMO. Guess they want to pander to their David fans too, but it feels like it's been ages.

They have a deadline for volume 3 next year, so maybe they'll try concentrating for ITW for godssakes. I'm not sure how many chapters we're past volume 2. Maybe two? They need at least four-five chapters to complete a tank I'm assuming. A couple more chapters in 7 months, think they can do it? God knows they're probably one of a few manga team that takes 7 months to work one two or three chapters. If they didn't have to keep to a deadline, we'd probably be looking at a chapter a year. This is their full time job right?

I'm pretty sure GP pays more though, lesser work and more money than if she continue her western comic. Also her work on western comic had only been for cover illustrations not for whole comic.
