They just don't travel like that, unless the sun is exploding, which our type of sun would never do (ours will expand at the end of it's lifetime, not implode). Secondly, even if it did work like that, it takes 8 minutes for light/heat from the sun to reach us, so in the time it would take for the flare to be noticed, relayed to you, then typed up and posted to this thread, it would've already "hit" us.
