Work has slowed down, so need stuff to read. I like trashy, pulpy horror, supernatural, or magical-realism-esque stuff. Not big into lovecraftian prose, so it's gotta be something my ADHD mind can stay attached to. Loved Ito Junji's work, looking for more stuff either graphical or just novel with protagonists against something they have no idea how to deal with, but either learn to avoid it or fight it. Love short stories too. Richard Mattheson is the shit.
Algernon Blackwood.
Arthur Machen
Peter Straub.
William F. Nolan.
Marc Laidlaw, the Half Life guy.
Alexandra David Neel.
Robert E Howard.
Saki.
Villiers de L'Isle Adam.
William Hope Hodgson.
Jorge Luis Borges.
Hope this meagre list helps you, anon.

Maybe it's just me but some of those sound a little slow for what OP is looking for.
Robert Bloch and Ray Bradbury are in about the same class as Matheson but they're probably already familiar. Same for King and Barker's short fiction.

Oh, and Charles Beaumont as well.

Also Roald Dahl.
For comics try Tales Of The Unusual over on Webtoons or the manga Fuan no tane.

Dean Koontz or Richard Layman for trashy, pulpy horror
I always enjoyed the Point Horror books. They're written by several different authors and can be finished in a day or two.

OP here.
What the fack. Author of the BFG made scary shit?
Fuan no tane was the bomb. I wish there was more out there like it. Just definitely my taste. Movie wasn't so bad either.

Yep. I think most of them are in the two Tales Of The Unexpected collections.
It's hard to find good anthology manga/manhua in that vein. Most I've found through Spiriphobia blog. Kouishou Radio has it's moments for one but it's non-linear so it's hard to follow.
There's a few other short ones on Webtoons besides the one I mentioned and some on Tapastic though a lot of them died mid-run. I recommend Silent Horror from the latter site. (requires a login for mature stuff but there's a mirror somewhere)
