Sleep paralysis usually occurs when sleeping on your back. Sleeping on a sofa usually forces you to sleep on your side.

I haven't slept on my back in years because or this. I had back to back dreams about 4 years ago. Both involved being held down on the bed or being held horizontally on the wall by an unseen force while it spoke to me. I can't even come close to falling asleep on my back anymore
