how does one join?

Ask 1 2 b 1
Google town and freemasons, see if there's and email adddress, email them about joining. They will set up a time to meet for examination and likely a time to come in to meet the members.

Are you:
a) a mason or local politician
b) rich
c) well connected
If yes to all of the above then just walk into your nearest lodge and ask how to join.
If not, then you can't
>>19541878
Seriously, is this your first day on 4chan? Welcome newfag.
>>19542517
None of what you said is true. You don't have to be any of those to join.
I emailed my local lodge once to ask about the process. Took them 2 months to respond, I didn't reply.
>>19542534
Ok Dmitri. Walk your broke ass into your nearest lodge and ask to join. See what happens.
You think they just let any fool join? What do you have to offer?
>>19542550
I am a fucking Mason and am not any of those things.
>>19542610
Prove it or gtfo.
I'm not sure you even know what the word 'mason' means.
>>19542517
This is misinformation any quick google search and visit to a lodge will tell you that any free man of age can join.
>>19542625
"""In order to become a Freemason, it is necessary to meet these requirements: Be a man. Have a sound reputation, and be well-recommended by your peers. In most freemasonry jurisdictions, you must believe in a Supreme Being, regardless of your religion."""
In other words, no bums allowed. And if you don't have a good reputation with local business men and/or have nothing to contribute then they'll tell you to gtfo.
What do you have to offer?
some of my family were masons no idea if they would make me one, but what the fuck do they even do?
>>19542651
That doesn't mean you have to be rich or a politician or well connected. It just means you have to be an upstanding member of the community and willing to help others in need. I joined when I was still in college and had a very small network but they were more than welcoming in my lodge.
>>19542658
>but what the fuck do they even do?
Help the local community. Build schools/hospitals/community centres for cheap/free. Run charities. Cut deals. Offer cheap services.
Basically they're a bunch of do-gooders.

>This
Basically a big forum and an organization that can help you better not only yourself but as well as the community around you.
>>19542651
Sounds like your average gang - you need someone to vouch for you before they'll let you in.
You need to have a good reputation in your area; you need to have people who can vouch for your character.
You need to profess belief in a Supreme Being (though IIRC Scottish Rite is moving away from it?).
Often you need to be recommended by an existing Mason, but in the face of waning interest you can usually contact your local Lodge and make inquiry.
But anon... it's not going to be what you imagine. It's a bog standard fraternal organization with a bit of private pageantry. They do charity work, get involved in the community, fundraise and such. The most you're likely to get out of it is some increased, very local, increased influence and opportunity (e.g. Masons are more likely to help you get a job or promoted than a non-Mason of equal ability).
Don't try to join Freemasonry unless you're actually interested in putting in work, hard work, to better yourself and your community while upholding Masonic values.
>>19542534
Yeah if you don't mind being a porch mason and being used

>>19542517
Why the shit would you need to join if you're already a Mason.
>>19542549
Yea, we only meet once per month, and some places only six months out of the year. Your name has to be presented to a meeting before proceeding to check that you aren't a known criminal or anything.
It's a very slow process.
>>19543328
Used how?
>>19543295
>(though IIRC Scottish Rite is moving away from it?).
Well no. The A&AR is an appendant body (sub-degree), so you have to already be a Mason to join it. Ergo, the requirements still stand. And in most places you have to be a Trinitarian Christian to join it.

Ex-Freemason here and nothing of this is true
You just need to know someone who is in the group and ask to join. Of course he have to present you to the lodge and they have to approve you.
That said, if you dont have a political reason or if be part of the group help you on your bussines, there is no point on be part of it. I leave because I spent 8 hours at week on reunions, plus a monthy fee.
