His idea of visualization is something like a closed eye hallucination. The after-image you see after staring at a bright light is an example. Thanks. The concept of visualization is clear enough, and I liked that he included exercises. Overall a lot of what he was trying to convey he succeeded in.
On page 52, he describes the dangers of real people in visualizations rejecting the notions a practitioner is putting forth and using imaginary pictures of people in place of the real beings.
I don't understand how imagining a person is different from imagining an imagining of a person, unless I missed that point entirely.
It seems to contradict his concept of binding, or preventing the opposite force of the force a user is imposing on reality from "reacting and leaving you back at square 1".
Another question I have is if the ritual he describes in the beginning of the book has any actual significance, or is just meant to be an exercise, since it calls on specific entities.

The warning about not imagining real people probably stems from his views on the different planes of reality. Basically, whenever you visualize or create on the mental plane you affect the lower planes down to the physical. These are conceptually connected by strings and when one is "tugged" on or vibrated in a higher plane it affects the lower. This is how thoughts are manifested into our physical plane.

Imagining a real person would "tug" on their mental counterpart which would unknowingly affect the real person. Think of a sort of collective unconscious. The person probably would not be aware but they may consciously react. I'm not completely convinced this is true but these were his views. The other book I mentioned elaborates on the mechanics.
