Eclipses work with a geocentric model, just not a flat earth model.

There are two "problems" with geocentric models:
They are way more complicated.
Our current theories of physics say the smaller mass should move instead of the larger.

You could create a perfectly accurate model with Earth as the center frame of reference, but it's much easier to use the sun.

What do you think would cause it to fluctuate?

>We would feel the change.
Depends how big the change is.

On topic, the speed of the Earth orbiting the sun DOES fluctuate.
https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Features/Milankovitch/milankovitch_2.php
>The shape of the Earth's orbit varies between nearly circular (with the lowest eccentricity of 0.000055) and mildly elliptical (highest eccentricity of 0.0679)[3] Its geometric or logarithmic mean is 0.0019. The major component of these variations occurs with a period of 413,000 years (eccentricity variation of ±0.012). Other components have 95,000-year and 125,000-year cycles (with a beat period of 400,000 years). They loosely combine into a 100,000-year cycle (variation of −0.03 to +0.02). The present eccentricity is 0.017 and decreasing.

Imagine driving a 100mph, then you slow down to 99.99999mph - do you think you would feel that change? How much change do you think you would need to feel it? 100 to 95? to 90? to 75? Now imagine the change happens over the course of an hour - how much of a change do you think you would need to feel it?

>Our current theories of physics say the smaller mass should move instead of the larger.
lol no
both masses move, but because it takes more energy to accelerate more mass, bodies with less mass move more because they get faster because they are accelerated more
the sun is like 99% of the mass of the solar system so you don't expect it to move much, but earth and the other bodies do pull on it, just like the moon causes tides on earth

They do, but everything is so fucking massive that it really doesn't matter, its like a marble statue losing a single atom
>>
>>19528427
You can't feel speed, you can feel acceleration and because most of the acceleration we experience in these movements is angular you can't notice due to the scale of said movements
You could be traveling at a few kilometers per second but if you were not accelerating you wouldn't notice without a frame of reference, but if you accelerate from 0 to a couple meters a second anywhere you'd feel it

How can you explain the Midnight Sun?

https://youtu.be/LjvtmzbEgm8

During Arctic summer, from the 22nd to the 25th of June, at a high enough latitude and altitude, you can watch a phenomenon known as “the Midnight Sun” where the Sun stays continuously visible in the sky for 3 days straight! The “Midnight Sun” rises on the 22nd and for the next 72 hours never disappears from sight, slowly ascending and descending every 12 hours, showing 3 brilliant “sunsets” and “sunrises” without ever actually setting below the horizon. If the Earth were actually a spinning globe revolving around the Sun, the only place such a phenomenon as the Midnight Sun could be observed would be at the poles. Any other vantage point from 89 degrees latitude downwards could never, regardless of any tilt or inclination, see the Sun for 24 hours straight. To see the Sun for an entire revolution on a spinning globe at a point other than the poles, you would have to be looking through miles and miles of land and sea for part of the revolution! Anyone below the 89th parallel could never witness the Sun for 72 hours, 3 whole revolutions, straight because to do so would be to assume you are somehow seeing “through the globe” and to the Sun on the other side! Since such an assumption is ridiculous, and yet the Midnight Sun can clearly be seen as low as the 65 parallel, this is another absolute proof that Earth is the flat, stationary center of the universe.

You do realize that by definition, 12 is the time when the sun is the highest in the sky. AKA when a particular point on earth faces the sun. Please tell me you're not THAT retarded.

The answer is that the Earth DOESN'T rotate every 24 hours. It makes one rotation every 23h 56m 4.1s.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sidereal_time
>Common time on a typical clock measures a slightly longer cycle, accounting not only for Earth's axial rotation but also for Earth's annual revolution around the Sun of slightly less than 1 degree per day (in fact to the nearest arcsecond, it takes 365.2422 days to revolve, therefore 360 degrees/365.2422 days = 0.9856° or 59′ 8″ per day, i.e., slightly less than 1 degree per day).
>A mean sidereal day is 23 hours, 56 minutes, 4.0916 seconds (23.9344699 hours or 0.99726958 mean solar days), the time it takes Earth to make one rotation relative to the vernal equinox.
>Because Earth orbits the Sun once a year, the sidereal time at any given place and time will gain about four minutes against local civil time, every 24 hours, until, after a year has passed, one additional sidereal "day" has elapsed compared to the number of solar days that have gone by.
>>
>>19528016
>Think about how blimps and submarines work. Relative density my friend.
Density and gravity, actually. Without gravity there would be no reason for denser objects to sink down (towards the center of gravity).

this statement can also be rewritten as

every 60 minutes the earth rotates 15 degrees

every 3600 seconds, the earth rotates 15 degrees

when divided, you get : the earth it rotating .25 degrees every minute, and ~.0042 degrees per second

of course these are not perfect numbers because earth is not perfectly round

A picture to help. The M is keeping track of the sidereal day, the S is keeping track of the solar day. So you can see after half a year, the sidereal "noon" would be pointing the opposite direction of the solar noon. But we don't commonly measure time with sidereal days, we measure them with the sun. Thus each day has a tiny correction to the rotation, leaving us with "noon" always being when the sun is directly overhead.

Another way to see this is the constellations. What stars we see (other than the sun) is directly due to the sidereal day, thus the constellations you can see during the summer months are different than the stars seen during the winter months.
>>
I like how there's no consistency in the flat Earth model. Some say it's a plate that flies upward at 9.81 mps with a done over it, some say the plate is magnetic with a dome over it. And some say we are on an infinite plane with puddles in it every so often that represent different worlds, each one with domes over them. I guess the only consistent thing is the dome.

It all depends on atmospheric conditions. In some instances you can see the sun get visibly smaller, other times it stays the same apparent size or gets bigger as it sets. These effects are due to atmospheric lensing.

Nice anon. Thank for this

I seriously doubt that this image wasn't made as satire. You don't feel anything because absolutely everything that is on earth (including air) is moving at the same constant speed. That's why if you throw something inside your car it doesn't fly to the rear end

Something I've never understood despite reading so-called explanations about this... is why does the Earth's tilt cause seasons? If it has to do with proximity to the sun then shouldn't January be summer in the northern hemisphere (or all over the globe)?

The seasons have more cause in the angle at which the sunlight hits Earth. Summer for a hemisphere is when the Earth's tilt causes the sunlight to hit more directly, Winter happens when the sunlight strikes a more glancing blow. The northern hemisphere is tilted away from the sun during winter, but is closer to the sun than during summer. This closer proximity adds a little more energy, but not enough to offset the loss from not being in direct sunlight.

I think the Moon is basically a balloon, either organic or man made. The craters face Earth because we shot the shit out of it in the past.
