JP Morgan was a good friend of Thomas Edison. JPMorgan and Morgan Stanley, two of the powerhouse investors at the time were investing in Edison rather than Tesla. At the time electricity was new, and DC was only available. Edison being American, got much more media attention and support from JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley.
Edison was not nearly as intelligent as Tesla, who was able to clearly visualize a problem and come up with a way to correct it. While Edison was often known for jumping right into projects without thought and feverishly trying "trial and error" to progress in technology. With this being said, Edison in public and in media often bashed and talked down upon Tesla, but it was simply because he didn't think what Tesla was claiming was possible.
For example, DC or direct current motors were the only option at the time Edison and Tesla were working for companies like General Electric trying to come up with new technology. Nikola Tesla in 1888 invents the AC Polyphase motor and sells it to George Westinghouse, after Edison claims AC is extremely dangerous and can't be done.
This goes on for ages, 20+ years. People talk down upon him, he invents, the patent is stolen, or he never filed it properly and Edison scoops it. Or better yet, after AC motors invented thousands of companies start using AC motors with no royalties or recognition to Tesla.
His life project was called Briarcliff, a grid of world wide free power. He received sporadic funding from Stanley and Morgan, but never enough to work on the project indefinitely. Tesla a good friend of James Astor, (richest family in the world 1911), looks like he will get funding to finish his project from Astor. Astor boards the Titanic and JPMorgan has the Titanic sunk, killing most heirs of the Astor family. Jp Morgan shifts to wealthiest individual in the world (1912).

I think you're misunderstanding the time frame. I was just saying that I think The Titanic was a planned disaster, seeing how it's the plot of a book written 14 years prior about an identical incident.
I brought that up to connect Tesla, James Astor, JPMorgan and Rockefeller. Tesla needed funding to kill Rockefellers business, and to make a fool of Edison, who they just invested heavily in, and his technology putting it up in major cities (lighting and electrical line). Essentially, if Tesla got funding, finished Briarcliff, and gave us all free power, none of JPMorgan, Rockefeller, Carnegie or Stanley would have been a name we recalled today, like we do. They carefully chose their path, and we're just currently starting to roll out Tesla's work. Ie: wireless charging pads, cellular devices
