As for the second question, the answer is "I guess?" I don't know anything for sure. Anyone who says they do is probably a liar. From what I've been told, however, newer vampires retain more elements of their intelligence and humanity than the older ones. I can't vouch for that myself. Nor for rumors of vampires being supernaturally ancient.

Personally, I doubt it. They may claim things like that, but they claim a great many things that may or may not be true. But like I said, I guess it could happen.

An interesting theory is that the original vampires were diabetics, and it does make a lot of sense. Diabetics, if they're blood sugar goes low enough, can go into a coma and appear dead. Imagine seeing someone seemingly die, then wake up super pale and tremendously hungry. As a diabetic myself I can attest that at a certain level of low blood sugar there isn't enough energy in the brain and you're pretty much completely inebriated except for the insane urge to eat, as your body is screaming at you that you're dying. I don't know about "rich history of vampires" in Germany. I certainly haven't heard of many recorded cases or any recent sightings, and I'm not going to randomly wander the country asking people if they've seen vampires.

The internet is the best resource there is, and the one I currently prefer using. If I had any promising leads (or any evidence of a "migration of vampire attacks"), maybe I would take my search IRL. But as of right now, I have nothing of the sort.

The people of Germany would also bury their dead facedown to avoid a vampire’s potentially dangerous gaze.

The Germans also made a lasting addition to the world of vampirology thanks to the numerous treatises written by so-called experts about the undead during the seventieth and eightieth centuries (a treatise is a bit longer than an essay and argues why something is bad or wrong). These included the works written by Johann Zopfius, Michael Ranft, Johann Christopher Rohl and Johann Stock. It was during the time this all started. I got randomly, VERY INTENSELY obsessed with vampires for no reason and felt like being mindcontrolled. (Psychosis or something, I guess.)

Then one day I was washing my hair and I was alone at home.

While I was washing my hair suddenly I felt like danger was close and I had to get my knife, but I brushed it off because I thought it was silly and everything is chill. Then 10 minutes later (it was dark outside) someone rings at my door. PEOPLE NEVER RING HERE EVER ... unless its a package in the morning. It just doesn't happen or maybe once a year.

And it's the voice of some dude saying he's "Nils" but he doesn't say anything else. And then I hear other men in the background. One or two other men, they sounded older. They stuck around in front of the door for many more minutes in darkness.

I had no idea who that is, I called my dad if he knew him, no. Asked neighbours, nope. No one has my address, it got never leaked.

In that moment I concluded a vampire send ghouls to harass me because I started talking to the public about them. This isn't paranormal, I'm aware it's just an experience of mental illness.
