There is no reason that the sun and moon have the same angle to you, and that you can cover either with your outstretched thumb.

It's not your fault that you're not able to comprehend physics. I just love these kinds of people. They just talk and fantasize, maybe it would be better if you just followed the smarter man. Just don't get delusional with 'smarter' as a spiritual thing, leave that for fantasy's box.

Alright basically, just make boxes of data in your head. Place stuff from science in to [Reality box] and place other shit in [assumption box]
>>
If you think that this kind of thinking is limiting for a humans mind, you're right. But thinking for yourself in your case is much worse.

No one is moving away from science.

There have always been mentally ill people roaming around spouting their insanity. Society, at this point in time, has simply chosen to allow them to roam free, for some inexplicable reason.

Your time will come.

Seriously this. Fuck off Jamey, you're only spattering grease on a flaming carper fire.
>>
>>19492626
It is a guide, I'm not pointing at myself as a 'smarter man' - I'm referring to scientists who actually give you clean data.

And yes, I can't agree with myself more, do stuff that you can actually do. For some thinking is not the strong side. But you shouldn't be sad about it because you don't even understand the reason you're sad.

I used 'you' as a fictional person, not referring to actual you. In this way, it was easier for me to express myself in English.
>>
>>19492651
I'm not even the guy you're referring to. I'm a science person. I don't think it's useful to create an echo chamber like Bill Nye either.

So I insult them first. Then I explain.
see >>19492475
>>
>>19492660
You value people way too much for a science person
>>
>>19492667
I do. I'm an optimist. I believe in weeding out parasitical thoughts from people. Sometimes with sheer force and bad words.

But I never call myself smarter than others. That is for other people to say if I have the achievements for it.
>>
>>19492672
And you don't have a problem of optimism folding your eyes? What's the logic in that?
>>
>>19492667
Scientists understand the value of life and free thought far more than do any other demographic. Don't be a faggot. Your point was invalid and critical thinking is a skill that anyone can acquire.
>>
>>19492686
My logic is what is the use of pessimism? I don't necessarily call it worse though, it's a matter of character.

Yet to lead people you need to release good energy. You can be a pessimist and live alone but then don't get upset when they start believing earth is flat.
>>
>>19492693
You have built yourself a sickening reality where everyone is equal.
>>
>>19492705
>everyone is equal
Not really but everyone deserves a chance imo. True value is what you make of an opportunity. I believe many people are not given that opportunity.

Now a pessimist would say they turn down opportunity knowingly and this argument would go on forever :)
>>
>>19492705

>>
>>19492741
This is true. I don't tend to tolerate faggots who think anti-equality is any kind of answer.
>>
>>19492721
Really depends on how valuable your time is.

Would you rather choose one person to benefit from your arguing or many more persons?

Because in this 'flat-earther's society' thing the efficiency of converting their mindset is very low, I'm pretty sure you know how and why that is.
>>
>>19492776
>the efficiency of converting their mindset
You're the only one here trying to convert anyone.

But no, even here you're wrong. The efficiency of teaching critical thinking has exponential returns. You can never go wrong in teaching someone to think for themselves, even if they are the single worst person at it.
>>
>>19492775
I'm not about anti-equality, you got that part the wrong way.

I hope you understand the meaning here:

If you can't drive a car, you shouldn't drive a car
If you can't swim, you shouldn't swim.
>>
>>19492775
Anti-equality isn't as enviable as you might think. The people who celebrate equality and diversity are not aware that equality is fundamentally the antithesis of diversity.

Now what you would want is not to average people down to percentages, but to aggregate them into a society by parts. Acknowledging we're all vital parts of a system is the ultimate equality imo.

>>19492776
Depends on how you'd want to spend that time. I want to spend the time on my studies, yet I also am upset about flat earthers speaking stupid shit so I have found the solution to be a manager of people. You don't need to manage every person, but distribute responsibilities and have them deal with people on an individual level. To be able to do this, you need to put inspiration in the people.

So my answer would be I would benefit from one person who would argue with many more persons on my behalf.

Then again it is very important not holding your time more valuable than others. It is thanks to those people you assign to handle the society's arguments that you can have free time to focus on your studies.

With this approach, over time you have a chance to reach everyone. People like to be reached out to, you know.

>>19492820
>locally illuminating sun
what the fuck does that even mean?
>>
>>19492802
>the ultimate equality
There is no ultimate, that's why equality is a null idea. Your analysis is correct, your analysis being correct, is why anti-equality isn't any kind of answer. There's nothing to fight against because the people pushing for equality can't do anything, and by the nature of their stance, can't harm anyone. Opposing a benign army can only be hazardous.

Genuine question for people who say the earth is flat.

If the earth is flat then at some point during the day wouldn't there be daylight for everyone.

For example someone in Canada during the morning can see the daylight but someone in china at that time will not.

I just curious what the explanation is if there is one.
>>
>>19492858
>Equinox

>>
>>19492858
>a healthy amount of friction
Absolutely. Equality being unassailable creates that friction with its own existence, for every person that holds equality as a value.

Anyone opposing equality, therefore, is an asshat contributing to unhealthy amounts of unneeded friction.
>>
>>19492875
How am I supposed to explain the fundamental physics to you if the straight out answer is going to deny it? If we made the conversation that way it wouldn't lead you to understand.

So let's simply start - Why do things fall? Explain it as you understand it.
>>
>>19492893
Well only if you think of friction in terms of average, like friction per person per se. It's similar to the 1% vs 99% argument. Is it healthy? No, but the system is working much better than socialism. So instead of introducing equality socialism (which is a system of averages) I propose introducing opportunity to even the gap out. Those people who would be given the opportunity to make the climb would become the healers of the system as a feedback loop.

How?
>>
>>19492918
>the system is working much better than socialism
It's not though. All economic systems are ultimately the same, meeting the socioeconomics needs of the population without addressing the underlying semantic needs that religion also fails to sate. Otherwise the suicide rate and the general perceived increase in diagnosis of mental illness wouldn't occur.

Capitalism, socialism, Marxism, communism, all try to provide a framework for providing opportunity in some kind of "equal" or "fair" way. They all likewise fail in marginally different capacities, not affecting the total average in any meaningful way.

Wait why am I talking to you about this? I'm a time traveler and you sound like the type of mind that ends up shaping the future I come from most meaningfully. We're not even all on the same boat from your perspective yet.
>>
>>19492948
I'd be guessing that this conversation is going nowhere since no one has replied. I don't use 4chan daily, so don't expect an answer from me like 30 minutes later, as I don't value educating people at this point in time.

In case if you do come back and read this,

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kola_Superdeep_Borehole
>>
>>19492977
So I will end our conversation with the most surprising bit of my plans:

The only system that can work ideally is a combination of both socialism and capitalism (I'm generalizing here for shortening). I must restate that this isn't an averaging type of coexistence like the Scandinavian model, but local socialism to hold together the poorer masses, allowing them to create unions and help each other out, while global capitalism allows the system to function without external guidance, with the constant opportunity creation generating "disruption" to eliminate monopolies.

The reason my ideas resonate with you is that I am already planning years ahead and everything I'm typing here will be implemented in the geographical region I am living in. In a sense my ideas are time traveling instead of me.
>>
>>19492976
I don't know lad, I'm not one of those people.

Go to a harbour (no rain or fog this day), and take binoculars with you. Pick a boat leaving the harbour. Observe that it slowing begins to disappear. You'll only see the top of it, then nothing. Because the Earth is a sphere (actually a potato, a little wider at the equator than between the two poles).

Other proof : Magellan's journey (and all the other circumnavigations)

The aurora borrealis is caused by our electro magnetic field deflecting solar wind and radiation. The field is generated by a rotating metal core.

Additionally, you can't view celestial north from the southern hemisphere. So polaris isn't over there. You just need to expand your frame of perception. The world is amazing and flat earth is jewing the grand architect for the credit they deserve.

Most good arguments for it are made by people who know all this but twist it to trick the ignorant. Then, when presented with math they don't reply because they know the truth.
