Its pretty good all around, the only parts that fuck it up are the censored parts of story. If it was like "Oh, this thing is covered with a box in the game, I can't open it" Then I'd be fine, but story wise its censored purposefully. Also, MatPat just decided to screw it even more with that 'theory' video where he just says the shit everyone else has said. It's not in a good place right now and I hope that this long wait in between videos will let the hype from Mat's vid will die down.

There's actually a theory that Night Mind is a creator of this. He said that he was going to cover an ARG he helped create on his channel but wouldn't say which one till it was created. He's also said that he really enjoys the concept of BEN Drowned.

I would argue that his persona is intentional. The videos were meant to be shared only with his anonymous friend (or sibling, can't recall) so it makes sense that he wouldn't play up his personality for a wide audience.

I actually prefer his reticence. It adds to the authenticity of the project. the extended silences add to the tension as well imo.

There is some stuff about the game itself that made me ponder.
What was the development status of the game before the narrator found it? Obviously is not gold but what did the narrator found? Was it a psx black disc? A developer made back up? If so does the narrator have access to the code or the assets? Did he compile the game?
How is the game being run? Some people has noticed that the footage lacks the polygon twitching and texture warping characteristic of the psx and some emulators do solve those issues but an emulator will have a hard time running an incomplete game. Another possibility is that the narrator has a devkit and that could explain how he runs an incomplete game.
The game's internal resolution must be fucking massive since some stuff looks way too smooth to be from a psx.

A lot of people are saying it's just about Candice Newmaker when there seems to be more references to child abuse in general. No denying the Newmaker case is tied to the game, but the main story seems to be about this "Marvin" character and this windmill.
