I knew of some possible leads, but nothing close to me, and the few I ventured to turned out to be just goth cults or whatever.

So far, nothing. I don't think it's that bizarre though, if there is a community it is probably quite small. I have many theories about the subject and possible "meeting spots" but nothing firm.

Well, I have gone to quite a few doctors in my life (I am in fact friend of a couple, an endocrynologist and a pediatric doctor), mostly because I suffered from panic attacks, PTSD and depression due to my radical transformation and change of lifestyle.

Most simply don't believe my story, but my friend (the endocrynologist) did runseveral blood test on me.

I did lost quite a big chunk of it, it happened when I was in this state. It took a few weeks to grow back. I stayed at the clinic a few days though, and then I decided to just leave. Since hospitals by law cannot force you to stay I just left.

What I don't know is what are the risks involved. Imagine it has a 1% chance rate of working and a 99% rate of failure due to sepsis, or other problem.

I once did tried to turn little rats into "vampire rats" by mixing their water with my saliva and even injecting my blood into them, but it didn't work and most died pretty soon. That's as far as exprimentation I have done.

Rich and sick people would lay to your feet and worship you if you had these gifts. And it's easy to prove. Like what happened to your eye... you said you went to the hospital, they saw the wound. If you returned a few days later with a regenerated eye they would know you're legit.

Even if you only worked regular jobs, you would have gotten lucky sooner or later, and saved up quite a bit after all those decades. Not to mention if you actually had the ambition to start your own business or invest in something.

It's not like I can cut my arm and it will grow in minutes or anything. My biggest injury, the eye, taked weeks to heal. minor scratch I've had also take their time. It's not something suited for a magician act.

Well, I have worked on stuff of the sort, though I haven't exploited it as much since most of those jobs require you to work during the day under the sun. I've worked as a guard for night clubs at least two times (and both I got fired for drinking during job hours) and once I worked on an underground fighting ring, but it's really not worth it. I won almost every fight, but I did received my share of blows and kicks.

When most of your cash got lost on drugs, alcohol, and expensive antidepressants it's not that hard to understand. I didn't have a fun life, just recently I started "being clean". I spent quite some time doing hard drugs and not being able to work during the day just doesn't help.

Ah, anyway try and get back into fighting. With superhuman speed and strength, after getting some training, you will win every fight. You can become a millionaire that way. Night shifts and dangerous or physically demanding jobs tend to be better paid than regular comfy daytime jobs, so I don't see why that would be a big problem either.

It's not so much confusion as it is curiosity. Stamp collectors and panty sniffers have a reason for liking what they like.
As someone writing about vampires, I have a vested interest in finding out how and why they appeal to others psychologically.
Even moreso since one of the subjects I wanna cover is folklore vs. modern interpretations, and how one can translate into the other.
(Even more ironic since I'm starting my friend's VtM campaign and one of the things that immediately drew my attention was the big difference in vampires)

Aside from Dracula and Carmilla, Anne Rice was the one who made "attractive human-like vampires" a popular thing. She's also the one that set precedent for the idea of vampire societies like the camarilla and whatever they're called in twilight. Before that and Dracula, they were mostly portrayed as they usually are, these feral, monstrous creatures. So by Anne Rice-type vampires, I don't literally mean Lestat, more like the concept.

What's ironic is, there IS historic precedence FOR that type of being, but they're not called vampires, nor are they created like vampires. They sorta just got mixed in there like berserkers and skinwalkers did with werewolves.
