Lain is a very strange, if not short in length, anime series. A lot of themes are involved. In some way it really depicts the internet of the late 2000s. Problem is that it came out in the late 90s, when the internet was still primitive. So yeah, there is the question of why. Maybe because it's weird. Maybe that's all it is.

Oh and yeah the first layer is called Weird. The anime is a trippy experience even beyond that. I really wish I could better describe it or do it justice in the slightest. It's best watched by yourself, without spoiling anything. Just do it, unless you have already.

Indeed, another thing that strikes me as unusual for this whole thing is that many people ITT don't know about these videos already despite their heavy lain symbols. The accounts that made these videos seem relatively recent as well, or recently experienced a surge of activity. Something dubious, I would assume all were hacked by one guy to place his weird videos if there wasn't a shit ton of them on each channel, all with impressive video editing.

Go on to the other videos, also check the comment section. The ones with the yellow blue filters seem to be related as well to the demon channel in which he wants them to "summom" him. The other ones seem to be related, but carry a different message. The comment section is the most interesting part though, each channel types cryptic messages towards each other (which is how I found most of these channels in the first place). It makes me wonder what is this they are going on about?
