It's an out-right attack on one's cognitive immune system, to inject the payload of the God virus into its host. Because of how well engineered it is to do this and even self-aware of this (it wants to instill perplexity, confusion it can exploit) my conclusion that the author intended to deliberately manipulate minds via deception. That's a Christian for you; lying in the name of God is perfectly fine.
