Black and White Creature??

Hey /x/. About three years ago, I saw something that, at first, I could rationalize, but when I did a double take, I couldn't make sense of it. Maybe somebody on here with knowledge of cryptids or weird creatures can help me match the description of this thing to something specific.

>be in LaGrange, Illinois
>Suburban town, outside of Chicago
>Picking up a girl a from her house
>she lived alongside the train tracks that ran through an industrial area
>she gets in the car
>we're facing the train tracks, and I see what looked like a big black and white dog with shaggy fur sniffing around by the tracks
>Then, it begins to run
>and it's going FAST
>it's taking long galloping strides like a horse, but it wasn't nearly as graceful
>its shaggy fur and limbs looked wobbly kind of like a person in a big costume
>as I watched it, I had realized that the beast must have been at least 4 1/2 feet in height and 6 1/2 feet in length
>I have no idea what I saw

Maybe it was just a huge stray dog, or something. Maybe I'm just crazy. Regardless, I'd like to hear your theories, because it was one of the only times that I had ever seen an animal(?) that felt completely out of place.
