Santeria
Hello lads, I think my cousin has been taken hostage by Mexican witchcraft
I know the bare bones of santeria, but like all autists, I come to the chief autists for advice
What should I do? Is it fluff? Is it sketchy fluff? Help me out lads
I DON'T PRACTICE SANTERÍA

Knew this would be the first post. Please don't turn this place into Reddit
There's nothing inherently bad or evil about santeria. It gets a bad rap for basically the same reason voodoo and other such practices do. The morality of it's usage isn't written into the system itself, that's up to the practitioner, and only the bad shit ever makes headlines. Another autist will have to correct me if I'm wrong here, I'm not super familiar with all the ins and outs of sateria, but to the best of my knowledge that's what's up.

But the family that (we believe) practices it are huge ass-holes that put their hair in people's food

Has your cousin actually been taken hostage, or has your cousin merely taken an interest in its practices?

I haven't studied it much myself, but from what I've seen so far of magical beliefs, it does depend heavily upon the intent of the individual, yes.

He's dating a member of the family, and we think they are using (or at least, trying) to use weird occult shit to lure him into marriage so they can get his inheritance (which they have made big fusses about before)

Now that does seem like a problem, and probably less magical of an issue.
