Sorry for all the questions, but it's the only way to gather more information. I believe I have made a fairly solid hypothesis. With the dream, I believe that you are worried about your dog being hurt or killed while you are away. And with what happened on the street, you may have had a possible mental breakdown from stress/anxiety. It was dark and that is not your favorite thing, also mixing with you worrying about your dog, that could make you see/feel shit. The darkness probably was playing tricks on your eyes to start with, then paranoia and anxiety made you see another person with your dog. I think that you are mainly scared for your dog's safety in another person's care.
