Not sure about specific spells, but he help fishermen fill their nets with fish. A common thing to do is a fisherman will pull in his net, and throw one fish back "or sometimes a small, low value coin" as a way to thank the hà bá là gì.

The hà bá là gì isn't generally worshipped, but he is sometimes prayed to for a bountiful harvest or for boats to pass safely along the river. Sometimes he causes boats to sink or crash if he is displeased, so the prayer is seen as necessary.

When the hà bá là gì takes the form of an old man, he is generally regarded as kinder and more benevolent. He is said to walk through villages and along roads late at night healing the sick and elderly, and also on the hunt for thieves, which he is said to drag them back to the water, return to his monster form, and devour them.

I said he was primarily evil on my previous post, but my aunt lives with us (she is full Hmong) and said he is more neutral, sometimes he helps, sometimes he causes chaos. Chaotic neutral I guess.
