From what I understand they are a type of apparition, in the same way a poltergeist is a type of ghost. They seem to feed on fear, sometimes make sounds. Don't necessarily prefer nighttime. Bring a sense of dread with them when they do come. Come in all shapes and sizes, from tall thin people to small hunched goblin shapes. One oddly common one was the Hatman. He was tall, stood in doorways (usually), wore a wide brimmed western style hat, brought extreme dread with him, and was the only shadow person to be seen with eyes. Usually in the form of red glowing eyes or glowing red dots for eyes. When you take dyphenhydramine you enter a state of delirium and he is a very common hallucination (maybe) on the drug. In the times I have done it though I never encountered him, or maybe I did, memory is terrible on that shit. He was also theorized to be a possible leader of sorts or higher ranking shadow person.
