Try reading some atkinson for a esoteric approach and some cialdini and carnegie for egzoteric. Their books should put you into a right perspective about this. Also learn how to breathe properly and apply some deep breathing before approaching a target, this usually helps a lot.

I wish I knew some good books on how to manipulate people but I've yet to touch on it. I'm almost certain there is something in there somewhere, you just need to get in deep with human psychology.
