Yeah, it's a shame symbols only have one single exoteric meaning.
You're like one of those Philistines who assumes IHVH=God of the bible, IHShVH= Scriptural Jesus, and a cross ALWAYS means Christianity. How'd I do?

I had no idea anyone else used that symbol at all. Who else uses it and what does it mean to them?

YHVH is the god the of the Bible. If there are millions of Jews praying to him, he will come into existence, if only as a powerful thought form.

So, if you call upon him, who do you think will respond?

With Ape as a leader it probably can't be worse than most modern lineages. Lodge of black ivory seems to be producing some real gnosis in its adherents and the ritual year hasn't even started...

If it's just random anons then it'll probably end in schizophrenia if it didn't begin there.

$15k for 8 acres with a kick ass tree.
"8.7 Acres *Approximately* in outlying north Joshua Tree. Dirt road can take you closer to the middle of the parcel. 360 Degrees of vast desert views."
Vacant lot.
Plenty of budget left over for a small house.
Couple of bedrooms, couple of bathrooms, a common room, a patio, and we can dig a root/wine cellar if we find some guy with the equipment that needs some quick money.

This is a good deal.

PS - you were asking me about Mpungo planetary correspondences.
They scoff but I'm still working on my amended Wheel of the Year.
I think I can work this until it's usable I just need to keep breaking it.

• MARCH – PISCES – WATER – NEPTUNE/JUPITER – PADRE TIEMPO
• APRIL – ARIES – FIRE – MARS - ZARABANDA
• MAY – TAURUS – EARTH – VENUS – MAMA SCHOLAN
• JUNE – GEMINI – AIR – MERCURY – BAKULU/EGUNGUN
• JULY – CANCER – WATER – MOON – MADRE AGUA
• AUGUST – LEO – FIRE – SUN – BRAZO FUERTE
• SEPTEMBER – VIRGO – EARTH – MERCURY – LUCERO MUNDO
• OCTOBER – LIBRA – AIR – VENUS - WATARIAMBA
• NOVEMBER – SCORPIO – WATER – PLUTO/MARS – CENTELLA NDOKI
• DECEMBER – SAGITTARIUS – FIRE – JUPITER – TIEMBLA TIERRA
• JANUARY – CAPRICORN – EARTH – SATURN – TATA NFUMBE
• FEBRUARY – AQUARIUS – AIR – URANUS/SATURN – SIETE RAYOS

To me this makes sense.

Anybody here from /k/ or /out/ - I need to know the average length of time for the estrous cycle of common wild game.
Deer
Boar
I'd like to refine my Wheel down to a Hunter/Gatherer calendar instead of an Agrarian calendar.
But I need someone with a little more Wild in them to give me some pointers.

>>19386175
A vasectomized European wild hog (Sus scrofa) boar was placed daily with pen-reared sows and the length of estrous cycle and heat period recorded. Thirty-four estrous cycles recorded for sows under crowded conditions averaged 23.8 days in length, 53 percent lasting between 21 and 23 days. Eleven estrous cycles recorded for sows individually housed averaged 21.8 days; 64 percent were 21 to 23 days in length. The normal length of the estrous cycle is therefore 21 to 23 days, but irregular cycles are common. Of 82 heat periods recorded, 44 were two days, 29 were one day, and 9 were three days in length. Thus the heat period is approximately 48 hours. Fertile boars were placed with captive sows and the breeding dates and litter birth dates were recorded. Two of 43 recorded gestational periods were discarded; the remaining 41 averaged 115.2 ± 2.3 days. The most frequent gestational length recorded was also 115 days, comparable to that of domestic hogs, and averaged only 1 day longer. The range of 108-120 was not as great as for domestic hogs, 80 percent of the observations falling between 114 and 118 days.

I'm a contractor and would be willing to trade labor for knowledge.

Also breaking ground on property is actually more expensive than you think. Just hooking up utilities (P/W/G) can cost upwards of 10k depending how far away the nearest utilities are.

Then there's the permits, etc

Unless you want to do rituals in a tent, and shit in a hole, I'd recommend buying a fucked up house to renovate.

Henre's was up earlier.
Go to bed when I said I was.
Wake up around 1 AM EST, dogs want to go outside.
Wander into living room talk to step mom for a second.
Let dogs out.
Fuck around in kitchen, drink water.
Let dogs in.
Come out kitchen, come in dining room, baby talk to dogs.
Look up at hallway - hall way light goes out at the same second. Huhn. Well then.
Head through open plan common room, down hall.
Make sure rents dog makes it to their room cause he's a nervous scardy cat that can't be left alone or he freaks
Girls and I go in my room.
Close door.
Walk past trunk.Nothing. Normal.
Walk past closest. Aura tingles in the area of my back between C1 and T4 vertebrae.
That's always how I know something is in the same room or around me.
This is really low grade.
I've had times when I felt it so strongly that I've panic''d and had the urge to run out of the room or area where I was standing.
I don't know if it's what other people mean when they say "I felt something touch me".
I never feel it in other areas like arms, etc.
Always only in C1 through T4 area,
Also, Exclusion Zone is open.
Pass through, lay down in bed.
Pups jump up on bed.
Start to fall back asleep.
Little pup wakes me up to go back outside AGAIN.
Exclusion Zone is closed now.
Nothing when passing closet.

Really, you like the cardboard box and packing peanuts that you shipped in that are in the closet better than this big fancy thing I'm making for you?

I haven't tested to see if hallway bulb burnt out at the second I looked up at it, or if it still works and randomly went out for no reason.
Only switch to control that light is in the common room I was looking through - no timer or dimmer, just on and off.
Never had a sync like that in close proximity to a "touch" incident.

since noone else has said anything let this be a reminder that there are still human beings in this world who haven't experienced the world we take for granted, and who are actively separated from the hive mind of technological consciousness for cultural and sociological reasons.

These lucky humans will miss what certain occult societies would refer to as the "rape of Maat" or the "false dawn of Aquarius"

they will never see the "false light of Rahu" as certain tantriks call electrically generated light and they live entirely separate from the global economy that so many of us have created with our vision and waste

bless them, their minds and spirits, even if the "advanced" societies turn to dust they will remain in their aggravated suspicious state

I just tested the light switch to the light that went out on it's own last night.
I'm always the last one to bed and the first one up.
No one else has been up all night.
Switch was in the off position.
I turned it on and the bulb came on no problem.
I can think of other things that caused it, but there's still the scenario that the switch flipped itself to the off position or was manipulated to the off position with nothing that I could see anywhere near it.
Touche, Henre - I'm impressed.
And, of course, no video camera around.

So /omg/, I have a question.

I've always liked the idea of witchcraft, but I don't like how witchcraft so often intersects with issues of feminism and environmentalism. Witchcraft-as-ideology is something I've always tried to avoid. So I guess my question is, is it possible to be a witch without being a stereotypical democrat?
>>

I dunno, is it possible to eat vegetables without being a vegetarian? This isn't rocket surgery.

>is it possible to be a witch without being a stereotypical democrat?
Yes, it's called not being a Wiccan.

Although, you can't be a witch without being environmentally conscious. Witches draw their powers from the forces of nature; this is definitional.
>>
>>19388979
Ebony Anpu was an initiated Wiccan, y'know.
>>
>>19388970
The interaction of witchcraft with the feminine and the environment doesn't really look anything like mainstream feminism or environmentalism. It's most often absurdly sensible when you aren't burning down construction sites and making dangerous statements like how men and women are fundamentally different sides of the same coin.

It's pretty bad on most campuses. The root of the problem is that everyone under 25 is fucking retarded, even the exceptions, and coming from a sheltered suburban middle class doesn't help. Dykes with a PhD in critical theory and an axe to grind doesn't help either.

>>19389019
I agree fully. My point was that shifting the ontological foundation of the argument to that of uniqueness and exception ruffles feathers, but so do studies that highlight biological and psychological differences across cultures and shit on critical theory.

Being a recipient of an Anth degree from a supposedly "progressive" school, I never once heard the words: "cis, het, appropriate, deconstruction, feminist, progressive, oppression" or any of the other common accusations, and the only time we talked about Marxism was when our professors described how frustrating it was to operate in the early 70's when Marxist cultural theory was actually popular in departments.

The problem ain't the departments, it's the tumblr fuckwits who dropped out after paying too much attention to their SOC 151 TA.

>>
>>19389280
Out of curiosity, and not to be a dick, but what is the market value of an "anthro degree"?
>>
>>19389294
Depends on what your spec was, where you got it, prior experience, etc.

Lots of anth work being done in marketing, especially in novel foreign markets.

The only thing ling and bio are good for is getting a masters in ling or bio.

Cultural can get you positions as described above, and archaeo(mine) is slightly better; both of these specs can be used to get your foot in the door at most museums. Archaeo has the added bonus of being good for career in surveying.

I master'd in public admin as I want to run the museum, or at least have a high level curatorial position, but an MPA is good for all midlevel and higher public sector positions, and also private sector positions that require policy adherence (budgeting, HR, certain more complex operational facets).

Guess I'm just in a hive of scum and villainy. Former girl's school, soc department with a heavy focus on gender and no focus on anth, blue haired bitches with daddy issues everywhere, division 3 athletics, lots of marxist holdouts waiting to draw their pension.

Undergrad anything is almost universally worthless. It's little more than prep for a graduate degree outside of a few fields.
>>
>>19389306
>midlevel and higher
So usually on the order of GS 6 through GS 10, but a rigorous undergrad with a touch of prior can get you to GS 6 for most like entry level museum/archival/cultural positions that aren't just sweeping floors or front desk/docent.
>>
>>19389307
>hive of scum and villainy
Don't get me wrong, they exist, if your school is shit, but if you're in a top fifty that has a solid graduate program (like you SHOULD BE ANYWAY) that shit doesn't fly.

>almost universally worthless
Yeah that's really a shame, they should either cut spec. reqs and merge with general associates, or add a year and a half by vocational/research focus and at LEAST get you prepped for grad like some accelerated programs do.
>>
>>19389306
So it's not worthless like I assumed. Thanks for the info.
>>
>>19389321
Anthro grads in all four specs perform VERY well in law school, fwiw. Anthro is a research and logic based discipline that forces you to be 'good at everything' as the sphere of study is literally everything a human can do, from shit to talk to forging complex metalworks.

An anthro degree is, at minimum, far more marketable for sort of general office type work than an undergrad in psych AND soc combined. You get all the stats and research of those two plus usually a tangible skill and interpersonal meditation.

The same thing as with all the others. The first few months would be a time of exhilaration and enthusiasm, infused with a sense of brotherhood and camaraderie. A lot of practices will be undertaken, their results shared and discussed. Everyone will be nice to each other, since every new face is new and strange and therefore manners must be observed.
Then, as time goes and the social dynamic and hierarchy becomes structured, and people get accustomed to each other and stop acting like polite pedestrians, the open club turns into a cult. The alpha male and his clique, who will become the inner circle, will form a certain dogma and sanction certain practices. Some people will start protesting this; as a consequence, splinter cults will form, each coven or conclave or temple throwing shit at its neighbour. In the original group, the former friendly and nice people who weren't cunning enough to grab the top will start gossiping about and backstabbing their fraters and sorors to win the approval of the superiors. Often they will shittalk about the head, but when the the big honcho will grace them with his appearance, they will play the Olympic game of who gonna lick his ass faster. Of course, practice will take a secondary role; in most cases, the revelations from the trances and spirits will be fabricated to fit some personal agenda. In short, expect the same primate politics of your classroom to take place. Time will pass and it will become one of the many forgotten cults of the postmodern phase of Western esotericism.
If you wanna start an a occult society no matter for what lofty reason, never - never, even for a fraction of a nanosecond - forget that, despite all the experiences, trances, communication, conversations, nirvanas, whatnot, humans remain human. All too human.

Is who counts as "The Good" entirely arbitrary? Admittedly I'm something of a Catholic who's more or less interested in developing a deeper spiritual connection to understand things like Communion on a whole new level.

So essentially I would have lying spirits to worry about, would they be attempting to disrupt the ritual? Possess me? Haunt my home?

As for opening an aethyr, admittedly I'm new to occultism so I'm not entirely sure what this would entail, basically a bridge between worlds would be open in my home or something?

But why would you have an open club? and why would you start with no structured hierarchy?

Also some lit-ass shit has come out of cults that were hot fire for a while then crumbled. I'm not sure it's even a mark of failure for a structure to collapse when its time is up.

So, a LOT of traditions talk about plant spirits, and lore of them particularly surrounds psychoactives like mescaline, i.e. imbuing everything (or the user, depending on perspective) with the "cactus spirit." SO, are there any traditions about Opium/Poppy spirits? Particularly as relate to addiction to the substance? I was thinking about Burroughs talking about addiction (His "Wouldn't you? yes you would..."refrain) and how, even when people can get past the physical aspects of withdraw, even after many years of abstinence and alleged 'recovery' from physical and psychological addiction, people seem more often than not to go back to it.

I seem to remember actual opium/opium hash balancing with other drugs a bit better.

The equinox of the gods which occurs every 2500 years or so is the precessional equinox of the zodiac, when we switch from one astrological age to the next.

The aeons, however seem to not super link up to that, as you've said.
>>
>>19389950
Pardon me, 2100 years. Duquette on the subject-

>The Great Astrological Year lasts approximately 26,000 years and is divided into 12 periods of approximately 2166 years corresponding to each of the twelve signs of the zodiac
>Because the Sun does not quite make it back to its starting point each year, it appears to slowly regress backwards through the zodiac at the rate of one sign every 2166 years.
>This is why the Age of Aquarius follows that of Pisces, which followed Aries, etc.
>>

Ok yeah... I guess maybe I was conflating that with the procession of Aeons. For some reason I was thinking Crowley asserted that the Equinox of the Gods is when the Aeons shift... In an edition of the Equinox.

>>
>>19390008
Liber O has tons of good stuff in it, as well as Magick: In Theory and practice. or you could hit up Thelemapedia or Regardie.
>>
>>19390006
I'm pretty sure he refers to both of these things, separately, as the Equinox of the Gods. But the aeon of Osiris theoretically lasted a shitload longer than the 2000 years of the age of Pisces did, although the "dying God" fish bit really did culminate for those specific 2000 years.

I kind of think about it like the stellar, zodiacal equinox of the gods is sort of a microcosmic, physicalized form of the deity-based aeonic equinoxes.

As someone who has been obsessed with the social structures of cults, intentional communities, and utopian communes for many years I'm going to have to strongly disagree with this anon's hyper-reductionist approach. These organizations fail for all sorts of reasons. In the case of the Utopian movement of the 19th century a lot of them failed because they weren't financially viable, they didn't produce enough income to sustain the lifestyles of those involved.

In the case of more mystically inclined cults a lot of them fail spectacularly because they create their own reality tunnel and lose touch with the consensus reality of the society that surrounds them. For example, Osho actually thought he could get away with the largest bio terror attack in American history. Manson really thought he was the king of the underworld, until that same underworld betrayed him.
The case of the Solar Lodge is particularly interesting because while they did get on the wrong side of the law for numerous reasons, some of them legitimate (kidnapping), and some silly (drugs) one could argue that what did them in in the end was a failure of spiritual leadership, not grounding, as evidenced in this post:
>>19389649

There is an element of truth to the fact that jealousy and human power dynamics often plant the seed of ultimate failure. While I wouldn't say that the Hawk and Jackal lodge necessarily "failed" if you talk to people who were in that same general social circle about it they still tense up and act cagey, almost twenty years later. Despite Ebony Anpu's best efforts and the crazy number of "exercises" he was given to purge jealousy and get people outside their comfort zone I suspect he fell into the old Osirian trap of patterning his personal fascinations and foibles into the cult itself.

The mark of a successful cult is, in my opinion, whether or not the current continues after the "prime movers" are gone.

>The mark of a successful cult is, in my opinion, whether or not the current continues after the "prime movers" are gone.
I always wonder if you could run a cult in lieu of prime movers. The ad-hoc nature of CS seems to work, considering the main group is no more and yet here you all are. What really interests me is the concept of a group that isn't, where you have no stake, no status, and no sense of belonging because the group itself doesn't functionally exist. It would theoretically weed out some of the power dynamics and ego based status drama and replace it with contract negotiations and ego-based unions.

good ol Wavy Gravy and the Temple of Accumulated Error

really underrated figure of the sixties counterculture imo. The Hog Farm did two things right:
-they had productive land that contributed to the communal financial well being. Hollywood Celebrities still pay crazy dosh to send their kids to the hippy camp there. I've noticed every long lasting large commune uses their land to make money

-They cleaned up when they were getting bad attention. Everything is very "Family friendly" over there now

it's generally better to stay on the side of the government if you're trying to make a pleasant oasis within the confines of their jurisdiction. There are countless cautionary tales in this vein.

>a group that isn't

I've really never seen anything like CS before and I would absolutely love to hang out with them (in their current visible manifestations) both for personal spiritual reasons and to see what their social dynamic is like.

I suspect they get around a lot of the drama issues by keeping their circle VERY tight. A quadriga is effectively a four spoked wheel where the leadership shifts every year. Even in their more public manifestations I'm sure you really have to prove yourself before you're considered worthy of entering a High Saabat.

>it's generally better to stay on the side of the government if you're trying to make a pleasant oasis within the confines of their jurisdiction.
I guess it comes down to whether their jurisdiction includes all (((private property))) in "their" country, or just "federally owned" (in theory, owned by the people who comprise the country) property.

>>19390165
In my experience elsewhere, that's what makes it work. You have a tight inner circle that's small enough to manage but is really a collective of independent operators with a common goal. Outside of the original group, which was a group within a group within a group that was affiliates with a group that was a splinter of a group, it functions more like a freedom fighter cell than the arm of an organization. For all intensive porpoises, CS doesn't exist as anything other than a boutique publisher.

Wow. I can't even get together with ONE other person to sync Workings an sheit. I gotta say though, the "Spirit initiators," far from what I used to believe, are a very real thing. I have had REPEATED instances, time and time again, where I have a certain dream, or prepare a rite in such a way, then find out down the road that, far from being an original idea, this information has been passed down for centuries, generations, etc. but I had never seen it prior to my insightful moment. It's easy to see how, for those who aren't straight-up charlatans, one might think they are in contact with some kind of Secret Chiefs, especially as a lower-level initiate, when in fact it is nothing near such magnitude for anyone other than themselves... if only it were more difficult to be led astray.

Spare described "Zos" as the human body and mind, and would later adopt the term as a pseudonym for himself. Biographer Phil Baker believed that Spare derived the word from the Ancient Greek words zoe, meaning life, and zoion, meaning animal or beast, with Spare also being attracted to the exotic nature of the letter "z", which rarely appears in the English language.
