i have heard a lot about these things from slavic/romanian/hungarian folklore which could be best described as malevolent spirits that can cause people inconveniences, but never heard of one actually attacking or killing somebody
there is a ton of them, all are different shapes/sizes
anyone on /x/ ever encountered or heard of one?
pic related, it is a bagiennik

baba yaga is not particularly harmful tho
Croatian here. Got a story for you OP
>be my grandma in early 1930s
>her neighbor had horses
>one morning there's commotion at the neighbors
>everybody is gathered around their stable
>grandma got in
>horses had beautiful braids
>they were all tired and sweaty
>apparently fairies did it
>everybody is scared
>neighbor decides to spend the night in the stable
>found dead next day
Well that's it. I don't know if fairies are cryptids or whatever but it's only folklore related scary story I got. Grandma told me a shit ton of scary stories (mostly ghosts) one afternoon and got so scared of her own stories she started praying the rosary poor woman

OP here, i am slovakfag
we call these fairy-like things rusalka
they do weird stuff like this and also lure people to their deaths sometimes, in some folklores might even eat them
on a second thought, they are the only slavic mythical creatures known to actually kill and eat people
