Something I've never seen discussed in here are dream afterimages. I just dozed off and saw a cartoon image of a family and some relatives walking down a city street sidewalk. When I opened my eyes I saw the afterimage of that image on my bedroom wall for a second or two. How is that possible? I can see if you visually see something on TV, avert your eyes and see an afterimage, but since there is no light with my eyes shut how did an afterimage of my dream show up on my bedroom wall? Pic related is similar to the afterimage I just experienced (minus the wheelchair guy and everybody was walking toward the right). There was a man, woman, two kids I think and an Aunt (maybe) in the rear with curly blonde hair who stuck out the most. Anybody else have experiences similar to this or know what can cause this? Just curious

I agree see a psych, this is hallucination, how old are you OP?
>>
please see a doctor OP, I've heard about visual hallucinations like this from a friend of mine who is currently studying to be a psychiatrist(?)

please consult a pediatrician OP

OP here. I just looked up this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_release_hallucinations

It mentions that "The most common hallucination is of faces or cartoons". That's kind of scary, but my eyesight is perfect. I'm not old, but I'm not young either. I've never needed to wear glasses my entire life. I don't have diabetes, memory loss issues, see smudges or spots, or do hallucinogenic drugs. This was just the first time I experienced this. It also seems rarer than I thought. That's also a bit perturbing.
>>
do you have light hypersensitivity, OP?
I have the same thing and I always just scolded it off as light still being kept in my eyes somehow after I stopped staring.

OP again. Sometimes when I wake up after a good night's sleep and my TV is on which also acts as my computer monitor, if the screen background is white, sometimes it feels overwhelming and it blurs out the words and makes it difficult to read them but I'm fine after a few minutes. I don't have dyslexia but pic related kind of feels like what I see on the screen except the white part is super bright. I just can't make out what I'm reading for a few minutes unless I zoom in. Actually this hasn't happened to me in a good while, but that's the only light sensitivity that I've ever had. I tend to have dry eyes a lot so I just chalked it up to that. I've never had this issue at any other time.
