Funny story actually, But i often dream that my cats with me. Unfortunately, most of my dreams consist of surviving doomsday scenarios and zombie apocalypses, and often times my cat gets killed off despite my best efforts to save him. He doesn't sleep with me anymore.. he loves me to death but if i bring him into the bedroom with me and lay him down on my chest to sleep, He spazzes out like its the worst possible thing. but he will cozy up to me like crazy when im at my desk. He used to sleep with me every night for most of this life :\

My cat died protecting my house from a robber, too, and all my previous cats were very loyal and trainable pets. Also had a dream once that we were in a grocery store and he turned into a rat to sit on m shoulder and be less noticeable

He's never died in my dreams only once but I don't think it was really him--a spirit was feeding on several fears and terrorizing me.

He sleeps by me or on my chest every night and his purring helps me go to sleep
He gives me kisses and comes when I call him unless he's taking a nap in another room
Cats are great creatures and OP if you have the love and effort to expend I recommend adopting one
Cats require a little more time to bond with you than dogs but that bond is solid as steel when it's forged

A misconception you guy seems to be having is assuming these are nightmares. these are just normal happy dreams for me.
