Manly P. Hall's "Secret Teachings of All Ages" for an intro to many areas in the esoteric world and some history. I recommend Ouspensky's "In Search of the Miraculous." Gurdjieff had some interesting teachings that are less obscure than other sources. Jung has an interesting perspective on alchemy but you should read others on the subject (it was practiced physically also). Other than this Ophiel has some decent books.
