Intergalactic travel
Will it ever be possible?
That all depends on whether we can move matter faster than the galaxies that are moving from one another.

The galaxies aren't moving at all. The space is just expanding.
>>19312266
By the time we could even create a craft that technologically advanced, space would have expanded too much.
>>19312266
Technologically: Yes.
Politically: No.
There is plenty out there that wants to eradicate anything that is not itself.
>>19312266
It already is.

The math says it may be possible but even the most "practical" theoretical models require absolutely ridiculous input energies. For example, the alcubierre "warp" drive model, widely considered the most "probable" solution to faster than light travel, requires around about the mass of jupiter equivalent of negative mass energy at its MOST efficent revision. Keep in mind negative mass enery hasent even been definitely proven to be a thing, much less do we even have an idea on where to start figureing out how to make it. Truth be told, ftl travel is more or less just mathematics loophopes and wishful thinking at best. As for non ftl meathods, it may be possible to accelerate to sizeable fractions of the speed of light in "reasonable" time useing a black hole powered drive that converts the radiation from the black holes decay into thrust. You know its a bad sign when the more "probable" option involves mankind somehow figureing out how to manufacture black mother fucking holes. and even if it did hypotheticaly happen in our lifetime it would take tens of years just to get the nearest star other than the sun that way. But if you really really wanna settle, there are plans in the works to build very tiny solar sail powered probes and useing an enormous laser powered by its own nuclear reactor to give them a boost up to a good % of the speed of light. The idea is that these tiny probes could send back data which could seen by people who were alive to see them launched. If you dont mind the potential 15 year delay or so. See you in 2040 or whatever

I'm fairly certain that we've cracked FTL before we manage to create artificial black holes, anon.
