A kid who liked to tell ghost stories once brought to show and tell a leatherbound book titled "The King in Yellow". As the class passed it around, he described it as a famous fictional play, and said that the book we were holding was an author's attempt at writing what the play would be. I read the first page before handing it on. There was nothing weird on page one, but the fictions that describe the play concur with that. I wanted to read more, but this was way back in kindergarten show and tell. I had to pass the book on to the next kid. Sadly, I have never since found another copy, and when I asked two years later Ghost Story Kid said he didn't know what happened to that book. It belonged to his parents or something. He didn't know where they kept it and couldn't give it to me anyways.

The King in Yellow is way cooler than the Necronomicon. Fite me.
