The Adlet is a Inuit legend similar to a werewolf but with more of a supernatural origin.

According to the legend an Inuit woman living on the shores of Hudson Bay married a massive red wolf. Eventually she became pregnant and gave birth to 10 children. Five were small dogs similar to the red wolf and the other five were Adlet, disfigured hybrids combining the worst attributes of both parents.

The Adlet grew to maturity within a matter of hours and immediately tried to kill their mother. Their father attacked and routed the beast but he was mortally wounded in the battle. Their mother was heartbroken and fled the area after putting the puppies on a piece of wood and letting them float away until they landed in Europe.

The Enfield Horror.

It would fair to say The Enfield Horror has it's origins in ufology. Sighted in Enfield, IL in the early 70s it was described as having three legs protruding from a squat body, two very short front legs/arms and rough grey skin. Two Pink eyes, each about the size of a flashlight, on a face that is otherwise hidden in shadows.

The Enfield Horror is most feared for its tendency to approach isolated homes and spend hours scratching at doors and windows. When spotted the monster immediately flees usually in a leaping manner and been reported to traverse over fifty feet in a couple jumps.

A fun side note, the area of IL that the Enfield Horror is spotted in has a long history of UFO activity and other paranormal happening.

The Dundas Island Black Fly

It's a flesh-eating, bloodsucking, and very venomous 6-inch long fly that's said to inhabit Dundas Island, which is located just north of Prince Rupert. Natives refuse to travel to the island out of fear of them. Its venom is said to be strong enough to kill cows.

The Hodag.

First reported in Maine in the early 1800s the Hodag has been sighted almost everywhere in North America with dense woodlands.

Similar in the size and shape of a rhinoceros the Hodag is exceedingly dangerous because of its powerful claws, large horns and jagged dorsal spikes, which protrude from its spine and continue the length of its hooked, draconian tail.

Old Yellow Top was reported to be a 7 feet (2.1 m) Sasquatch-like creature that was sighted several times around the town of Cobalt, Ontario, Canada. Canadian locals gave the beast its name 'Old Yellow Top' after the blond patch of hair on its head. Descriptions of the creature by eyewitnesses closely resemble that of a Sasquatch; however, it has a blonde patch of hair on its head and a light-coloured mane, which is what has given it its name.

Alleged sightings have taken place over a 64-year period, with the first reported sighting in September 1906, occurring again in July 1923 and once more in April 1947. The last time it was reported to have been seen was on August 4, 1970 by Amos Latrielle, Larry Cormack, and others. They claimed that their group of 27 miners from Cobalt Lode Mine was driving down a road when the creature walked across the road in front of them, causing the driver (Latrielle) to lose control and nearly plunge down a rock cut.

The Armouchiquois.

As early American settlers began to expand westward into the Great Lakes region, they were met by Native Americans who warned them against angering the spirits of the land. In particular, the Native Americans referred to the Armouchiquois, a race of stubby humanoids with shrunken head and skeletal limbs who became enraged whenever disturbed by humans.

The Armouchiquois are diminutive and thin, each member of the race stands about three feet tall with most of the height coming from their disproportionately long legs.

When settlers would build near Armouchiquois land their settlements were often plagued by mysterious fires, kidnappings and slain livestock.

In Ohio folklore, the Loveland frog (a.k.a. the Loveland lizard) is a legendary humanoid frog described as standing roughly 4 feet (1.2 m) tall, allegedly spotted in Loveland, Ohio. A local man reported seeing three froglike men at the side of the road in 1955, and a police officer claimed to have seen a similar creature on a bridge in the city in 1972.

The Lake Utopia Monster.

Native Americans described it as a terrible, voracious serpent with huge jaws and jagged teeth. The creature has been observed since the humans settled on the lake but the most notable encounter took place is 1982 when the monster surfaced near a man's boat. He likened the beast to a giant submarine and said it seemed to be ill as it showed signs of confusion and listed to one side as it swam before it disappeared back underwater.

Hopkinsville Goblins.

The Hopkinsville Goblins first appeared on August 21, 1955, sometime after 7pm when they approached the farmhouse where Mrs. Lenny Lang-ford, her son Cecil Sutton and Cecil's family lived. The family were entertaining friends that night and a total of eight adults and three children were in the house when someone noticed a bizarre light outside.

The men went out to investigate and immediately came face to face with a group of creatures resembling traditional extraterrestrials, standing 3 feet tall with over-sized heads and extremely elongated arms.

They rushed back to the house to arm themselves when one of the creatures peered into a window. Cecil Sutton fired at it and claims to have hit it full in the chest but after rolling backwards through the yard it stood up and ran away.

Moments after the appearance of the first Goblin the farmhouse came under siege. At least a dozen of the creatures crawled around on all fours investigating windows and doors in search of a way into the home. Several were heard on the roof and one grabbed a man's hair as he attempted to flee. A few threw rocks at the home.

Over four hours went by before the humans managed to make a dash to their vehicles. They went straight to the police station and the police, PIs and the military arrived to investigate the farmhouse.

While the goblins were no where to be found they did find signs of the battle with several bullet holes in the walls and door.

Apparently there are still similar sightings in the area today but this is the most well known and the namesake of the monsters.

Pretty widely considered a UFO related event considering the appearance and eerier glow they gave off.

Mokele mbembe is kinda unknown to most. It's a sauropod like creatures living in the Congo and is aggressive with seemingly poisonous meat

The Devil monkey is a Wild primate like creature seen mostly across the Eastern sea board and Appalachian Mountain range. It is said to have very similar movements to a Kangaroo, with very dark fur, standing from 3 to 8 feet (tail to nose) with long, muscular legs.

The Dungavenhooter.
It's a big ass crocodile with no mouth and huge nostrils. It's known for attacking drunk lumberjacks, jumping up and down on them until they turn into a gas, then inhaling them.

Florida anon's thread died before I spotted it so I'll add one for them: The St.Johns River monster, affectionately knows as Pinky.

The Grumble Clanger.

It's a little known Welsh cryptid, was mainly talked about hundreds of years ago when men worked in the mines or up in the woods.

They resemble humans but are emaciated and look like they're on the brink of starvation. Long thin, spindly hands and rotting flesh.

Men would be warned not to go near an unusual smells and to not investigate unusual noises.

They like to trick people, mainly the weaker ones since they will never pick a fair fight.
They'd stalk logging groups and pick off the ones with illnesses like it could smell the sickness.

I've never seen 'em written about online, but the part of Wales I'm from, you can ask any of the old timers, and they'll all have had a grandpa who worked in the mines or whatever that's had an encounter.

Not seen as much nowadays since there's no miners really, and less loggers. But sometimes we get tourists talking about them in the pub.

The Thetis Lake Monster

The first recorded sighting of the Thetis Lake Monster occurred on August 19th 1972 when two teenagers on the shores of the lake observed a humanoid form suddenly rise from the water. The terrified teens fled the lake but the beast pursued the pair and lacerated one of the boy's hands while attempting to grab him.

The boys immediately took their harrowing tale ot the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, who were so impressed with the sincerity of the witnesses that they launched a complete investigation in to the attack. They found little evidence to corroborate the boys story, but just four days later, two more witnesses were frightened by the monster and the RCMP were forced to increase its efforts. But after weeks of vainly searching the lake and surrounding area the RCMP quietly halted the investigation.

While the creature was described to have many fish like qualities, rough scaly skin, gills, and large webbed feet I wouldn't be surprised if the witnesses were mistaken and spotted something similar to Bigfoot. It's fairly common to hear reports of Bigfoot swimming and the lake is located in British Columbia which has it's share of Bigfoot sightings.

Here is a small list of Bigfoot-ish creatures through the United States.

Chicken Man
Sighted in Oklahoma during the 70s Chicken Man was the nickname for a large humanoid creature blamed for raiding several chicken coops.

The unidentified assailant always attacked late at night and tore through wooden doors and chicken wire to reach its prey. It left the coops littered with feathers and pools of blood and was known to consume several dozen fowl in a night.

Victimized farmers discovered huge footprints and several misshapen hand prints. The attacks went on for over a year.

A bigfoot researcher investigating in the area claimed to have sighted a large apelike creature in the area several years earlier and had left food for it regularly. Eventually after a failed attempt to capture it in a trap he stopped leaving food for it and believes that with a deformed hand and sudden lack of free food it resorted to attacking chicken coops.


The Fouke Monster
Made famous by the pseudo-documentary The Legend of Boggy Creek the Fouke Monster was described as having large hooked claws, three toed footprints and an extremely haunting cry.

It's been sighted for decades in the swamps of Fouke, Arkansas and has gone on some notable rampages before disappearing for long stretches of time.

Check out the film if you haven't, it's pretty good.

Momo
Extra frightening for a Bigfoot type creature Momo is well known for its tendency to approach children and young adults. Sighted since the early 40s around Missouri and Louisiana Momo is usually described to be larger than most Bigfoots standing around 10 feet tall and is covered in exceedingly long hair with slender fingers and a three toed foot.

Blamed for dismembering numerous cows and horses, Momo has also been sighted with dead dogs and sheep under its arm and even grabbed a small boy before being frightened off by his aunts and family dog.

Aswangs are physically much more like humans at daytime; they only change their appearance at night when they feel they are in need of food. It has been said that if an aswang married a human, upon their wedding, his or her mate would become an aswang as well but rarely can they reproduce. The couple may hunt together at night but will go in separate directions, either to avoid quick detection or because they do not like to share their food.

This is only semi-related, but I figured I'd ask it here. When I was in elementary school, I would always take this book about cryptids in the US and Canada out. I loved that book, but I can't for the life of me remember the title. I want to say it was something like "American Monsters", but I've had no luck finding it. I believe the author's name was David Cohen; his last name was definitely Cohen at least. It had a bunch of different monsters in it, including Momo, the Fouke Monster, the Honey Island Swamp Monster, Ogopogo and Manipogo. There were illustrations at the beginning of each chapter of the monster in question and they were fantastic. (The Honey Island Swamp Monster drawing always creeped me the fuck out.) It was an older book, probably published in the 60s or 70s. Does anyone have any idea what the book is called?

Kasai Rex is another relatively unknown cryptid from africa. Supposedly it's a large tyrannosaurid or allosaurid.
