But some sentience, surely. These words you are reading now were in a very real sense reflected by the light from my fingers--albeit through quasi-rectilinear wave shapes that heavily distort the original image. If these words are affecting your own consciousness in ways that you would otherwise not have expected to be, then they are in the moment of reading this sentence demonstrating their (partial) sentience.
