Typically most spooky footage is recorded on a potato device at 144p to make it seem "legit" and not Hollywooded, but a lot of people have smart phones now, so taking your potato to record some sooper spooky stuff is getting a bit obsolete.
If you had a highend smartphone or camera would it be better to record at 1080p 60fps or 4k 30fps to capture something paranormal you saw? Like if you were investigating a haunted house, hunting a bigfoot/cryptid, see a UFO, etc...
I would assume something like seeing a UFO would be better to be recorded in 4K since it is usually far away, and higer resolution would make zooming in sharper.
60fps video might be better when hunting some sort of creature because of shaky cam.
Just wanted your opinion. Wanted to start looking checking out haunted places and recording in case something actually happens.
I don't film a lot of stuff, but I'd guess the best way would be to figure out how much footage you plan to take and how much room is in your phone. Then use the best resolution that won't fill up your phone before you get a chance to record something cool.
So.... why not recording in 720@60p which has an acceptable size?
you can't really record 1080p60 in low light conditions neither 4k30 unless you have something that can generate a good amount of light pointed at the thing you are trying to film

That is true. Guess a flashlight would be needed. But would get rid of some of the spookiness.
Theres a cool app on IOS called "RAD VHS"

I have a 256 GB SD card. But a lot of 4K footage would eat that quickly. Especially if I try to record everything.

Using a filter would just make the footage look fake and discredit it. If I wanted to I can always use a filter after recording the video.
I'm just trying to see what would be the best way to record "real" evidence of paranormal stuff (if there is any).

I do a youtube channel focused on spoopy stoof.
I use mostly 720 at 30fps
Mostly because 60fps eats memory space so quickly and makes the videos huge, resulting in lengthy uploads on my very slow connection.
The quality of 720 is still good enough for anything that matters.
IR capable cameras are expensive and usually lower quality than non IR because the nightvision is kinda a gimmick on cameras that can use it.
I have 1 nightvision camera that does 720 but its irrelevant most of the time since the low light shreds clarity, even with an IR lamp for added IR light.
Plus, IR is mostly a "ghost hunter tv show" gimmick and has no real relevance to parapsychology research.
In my opinion, get a canon vixia r800 or a good action cam like a gopro, although my action cam is a sony - wish I woulda went with go pro, use what works for you though.
The most important part of recording spoopy stuff is the same as nature photography.
The HARDEST AND MOST IMPORTANT PART is to BE THERE to click RECORD.

Thanks for the advice! Recording is always better than word of mouth.
