I bet he was the guy supposed to monitor the radar for other ships. The radar has an "idiot alarm" that sounds every minute whenever a ship is within 10 kilometres. In busy shipping channels the alarm ALWAYS goes off (even at 1:30 am). This tard probably deactivated the alarm so he could watch porn on his phone. When he realized that he just crashed a billion dollar ship he went and hid like a bitch.

Guy has psychological problems and the Captain was known for being a huge fucking asshole about crew well being. Apparently it's policy to keep sailors with any sort of psych issues contained to the ship, barred from going on land when in port, stuff like that. Idea is that's just gonna have people fester with their mental bullshit by themselves than risk telling anybody.
