Anons I need a little help and I think this is the best place to ask

When I was a kid I saw a movie. From what I remember it was a slasher movie with a scene where this guy is wearing a mask (I can't really remember the look of the mask but it was a humanoid face with a smile/surprised look).
A few scenes I remember are where the masked individual is walking through a huge crowd of people and some guy falls down this pit
The second scene is in a small room and the masked guy is ripping open body bags with a knife and a victim is hiding in one
It haunted the fuck out of me as a kid and I've been dying to find it again. Can any of you guys recognise the movie from my vague description?

Shit plot. Shit acting and a kid who genuinely had it fucking coming. And no fucking atmosphere or scares anywhere...just that annoying prick begging for a slow agonizing death that failed to come.

I won't ruin the rest, but that shit scared the EVER LOVING SHIT out of me. I fucking jumped up and tried to run out of my room, fucking banged my knee on my dresser. I also remember the knapsack scene in Audition scaring me as a kid so much that I stopped watching the movie because of it. I was also afraid to sleep with my feet hanging off the bed because I thought that bitch would come from underneath and lop my feet off.

I honestly miss being a kid and being irrationally scared by horror movies and shit. I can't enjoy them as much now that I'm older because I'll nitpick everything about them. The only thing that really scares me or makes me uneasy is shit like SAW...not because it's actually scare, but because it's realistic HUMAN ON HUMAN shit. I mean I enjoyed Insidious but the odds of some redfaced demon tipping through the tulips to fuck my shit up are slim to fucking none, but the odds of some autist drugging me and putting my dick in some kind of bear trap to "play a game" is pretty likely...especially where I live.

Here's my two cents on this movie because nobody asked:

It had potiential. You can tell the director/producer wanted a movie more reminicent of a classic horror movie, but the investors didn't want that. This scene is not unlike some iconic scenes from movies like invasion of the body snatchers and jacob's ladder. But they went soft as baby shit with the ending. That kid should've died. They should've all died. And the book should've went to a thrift store or school library.

I don't know what possessed me to eat Grandma's awesome lasagna while watching Faces of Death near the end when they show the aftermath of meaty human remains of the PSA 727 crash in San Diego back in 1978. That fucking creepy arm reaching up and suddenly closing the door made my skin crawl so bad when i saw this movie as a teen. Sure the whole movie is constant body horror, but that one part legit spooked me. Youd have to be a sick fuck to come up with this movie btw.
