There are different methods from my experience. I keep the objects in a brass vessel secured from the light with a binding sigil placed on the side and in a place where it can't be easily found until after the ritual work is complete then assuming it goes well I either release the objects back or use them in another ritual to anchor the person to the working so they can terminate it at their leisure.
