what evidence is there besides descartes' guess work that this thing does anything?

it also seems like it's 'natural' for it to calcify during puberty - even if you wanted to de-calcify, does anything suggest that drinking de-fluorided water, etc. will actually un-calcify it?

The guy who tried to remove his pineal gland using a power drill had died, so I guess it does something pretty important.
