Does life exist underground on Mars?

The martian rover has many stories to tell of countless days travelling the landscape in search of...nothing. Just a vast lifeless landscape, maybe it can feel the activity beneath its tracks, longing for some sort of life to accompany it on this strange world. Or maybe I am just some CIA nigger and there isn't any life on that god forsaken hellscape. Or at least there isn't life anymore.

Complex microscopic organisms? Probably somewhere, likely contained within the ice around the caps

Lifeforms on the level with the simplest mammals? Highly unlike, unless they somehow evolved to eat rocks.

Intelligent lifeforms like humans? Nigh improbable based upon what we know about biological processes.

Is there still the possibility? Of course, but there's also the possibility dragons exist and they are just invisible.
