Hey /x/,

Just finished David Lynch's Eraserhead and Donnie Darko but when something more intense. Any movies you guys have seen that have made you uncomfortable? Accepting
Hollywood level movies to home recording style. It can be bloody.
>>
May be a stretch but end of evangelion
It is improved when you watch the anime series, though you'll have to wait until episode 15 or so for the disturbing psychological stuff

Try "The Incident." New on Netflix.

A reviewer described it as "A really dark Groundhog Day as directed by the ghost of Rod Serling."

That's pretty damn accurate. Same guy did another good movie, also on Netflix called, "The Similars." It's like a really great episode of The Twilight Zone. There's a comedic twist to it that sort of lightens the mood from disturbing, but it's still plenty disturbing.

I think this director's going places.

not sure if you know this movie, but have you seen the Animatrix? Is it like the part where the humans begin project Dark Storm and fuck up the robots? that part makes me anxious man

It felt like the writer started out trying to write a prog rock scifi concept album, but decided to make it into a movie instead. I kept expecting Peter Gabriel to step out dressed like a daisy and start singing.

Also, try Bone Tomahawk. It's a modern western (2015 I think) with good characters and dialogue. when the horror actually starts its such a contrast to the slow burn leading up to it. Probably the only gore that I've ever really been disturbed by.

Rewatched it again today and it's as good as ever. Do you think it could possibly be in the same "universe" as Twin Peaks/FWWM? Seems to be some similarities to me
>>
>>19208612
It was actually first intended as a spinoff based on Audrey Horne, so that might be where the similarities come from.

in club silencio, two of the female actresses from Twin Peaks are sitting in the crowd together. Alongside the dirty men figures appearing in the last few episodes of Twin Peaks as well as
the one in Mulholland Drive, i think it is safe to say that they are in fact in the same universe.

Also, Mulholland Drive was intended to be Audrey goes to Hollywood so there's that.

Zardoz is A+

Watch all of Lynch's stuff, new season of Twin Peaks is better than any expectation I could ever have.

Jodorowsky movies, Santa Sangre is my favorite but Holy Mountain and El Topo are great.

Lucio Fulci's movies are FUCKED UP, even though their titles are generic. City of the Living Dead was... jesus, one death scene still haunts me.

The scene with the Giant floating in the air was definitely in Club Silencio. The picture of the nuke next to Henry's bed in Eraserhead in connection with Part 8 and Gordon's picture of the same nuke leads me to believe they may all be in the same "universe."

Martyrs fucked me and my friend up so bad that we didn't talk to each other for a week.

If I had to recommend something it's Season 2 of American Horror Story. They put so much crazy shit in Asylum that I was shocked how well all the themes meshed and came together in the end.

Aliens, demons, zombies, Nazis, an insane asylum. It seemed totally random but made sense by the last episode.

The other seasons are hit and miss.

I have a feeling you will like Beyond the Black Rainbow, OP. Other Anons have recommended it, too, I see. It has awesome music and visuals. Here is the trailer.
https://youtu.be/nWF0bBKhe6o

I've seen some short movies by Takashi Ito on youtube. They're pretty disturbing and intense, if kind of repetitive.
https://youtu.be/05Y2uVtLl0Q

You can try David Lynch's Inland Empire. It's pretty long, I watched it in hour segments. There is a vague semblance of a story, but I mostly enjoyed that I felt like I was on the verge of panicking most of the time. Lost Highway is pretty good too.

Also, there's Twin Peaks season 3 episode 8. ;)

I recommended it already in /co/, but Belladonna of Sadness is an acid trip in animated form. Also Perfect Blue and Paprika, or basically anything Satoshi Kon.

/x/ needs to watch Benedek Fliegauf's film "DEALER" !

it's the most disturbing film I ever watched. It's not a classical "horror film" per se, but it's existential horror. It's about nihilism and determinism. YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT
>>

yeah it is(lain) unfortunatly the ending sorta falls into the trap most surreal/abstract stuff does and is just has this way to "open-ended" and "the endings what you make of it" tier ending

> martyrs
A lot of horror movies are so full of cliches that you forget them in a week. Martyrs isn't one of them.
It's insane. It's a splatter, a travel into fear and madness, and the worst part is the contempt of human life. It's very well done. I watched it with my friends (20-25yo) and we were so scared we couldn't sleep. It's not a movie you can forget. Sometimes we joke about it: "let's watch an horror movie" "what about martyrs?" "Fuck you" (and then we watch a shitty comedy)

"Brick" is an awesome movie. It was a nice surprise. It's like they set the movie "Chinatown" inside a High School...
